View Full Version : Jack was considered a business owner for 2 years and by time the series ended he
TVFactFan 07-26-2014, 03:09 PM had not saved up enough money to transition from that small apt to a bigger apt or a HOUSE?
He transitioned to another apt over top of his store? He was always promoting he had his own restaurant but never had anything to show for it like
a car
a house
Isn't more money supposed to lead to a upgrade in life? And that apt he moved into over the Bistro was smaller than the one he was living in with Janet and Terri lol
He went from a 2 bedroom apt to a junior 1 bedroom lol

If we're to believe he dated as frequently as he did and of course the man always paid back then......a man could have no money easy. Plus don't forget he was a Baby Boomer. As we're learning these days Baby Boomers didn't save for the future.

But you still have to save, you just can't date and date and not have any money left over
I asked out 4 girls this weekend and they all had something else to do. They had no idea that I was not able to date again until august 9th LOL
My dating for July is OVER

Dating is expensive. I think they gave the impression on the show that Jack dated more than he could afford to. If you're going out several times a week, you're broke. I can believe him spending his money as soon as he gets it.

I have a date in about a hour and it's at starbucks so that will be no more than 10 bucks tops lol
I think it would get expensive if you hit it off with someone and keep seeing them LOL

Yep. Jack probably didn't just get his dates coffee. We're talking fancy restaurants and expensive alcoholic drinks. Do that 3, 4, or 5 times a week and see what kind of financial situation you'd be in.
JackJanetChrissy 07-26-2014, 07:58 PM In the Season 8 ep "Now You See It, Now You Don't" Jack mentions saving all of $7 in the previous month. New businesses don't start making money until at least year 2, and even then you are lucky if you are making anything beyond breaking even.
Factor in the swinging dating life, and you have a guy with zero savings account. Jack always struck me as a paycheck-to-paycheck kind of guy.
TVFactFan 07-26-2014, 09:44 PM I spent $8 on my date tonight:lol:
Now I know that will increase if there is a 2nd date lol
Dianne3 07-28-2014, 04:18 PM Jack not having a car was not at all realistic.
Did he bus as the owner of the bistro?
Say Jack took all his dates to a fancy restaurant, how did they get there?
by foot, bus, taxi ???

Well on one date in season 8 Jack drove the lady's car but that was the only time I remember him driving on a date. Oh and when he took out Roper's neice in season 2
JackJanetChrissy 07-28-2014, 09:48 PM Perhaps he borrowed Larry's car a lot? Larry probably charged him for the service.
Maybe meeting at The Regal Beagle was his go-to dating spot. And the trio apparently didn't live too far away from the beach and the pier, in which case....he did a lot of walking.

They lived in a BIG CITY, so it was possible to go on dates without a car

This is the type of problem I'd encounter with my ex-girlfriend, I was always pressured that the man had to pay for everything and I just couldn't afford it with my minimum wage salary, thank god we've broken up because it would've been a real nightmare had the relationship continued.
That was 6 years ago and I haven't had a girlfriend since, ....so now I have all that extra money to go buy comic books and action figures!

In the 4 years we were going out no nothing really, except for maybe some booty if you count that as a gift. :D
Dianne3 07-31-2014, 06:57 PM Jack dated a lot of shallow girls.
Not all girls would even consider going out with a guy if he didn't have a car.
In the very first restaurant episode, Jack does mention to Larry, "who knows, maybe I'll be buying a car from you."

This girl just rejected me this morning because I don't have a car. But in this case I am not bothered because when I sent her a message online I had no idea she lived 53 minutes away LOL
So even if I had a car that is too damm far
