Is it because of what you post about your opinions, it was TOO graphic, or just because you're cleaning-up your site and accidentally took their name off your friends page...yet will still talk to you?

View Full Version : Anyone get unfriended on Facebook? MrCleveland 07-24-2014, 08:23 PM Is it because of what you post about your opinions, it was TOO graphic, or just because you're cleaning-up your site and accidentally took their name off your friends page...yet will still talk to you? Penny Lane 07-24-2014, 09:03 PM I have un-friended certain people who blabber on an on about their politics. I have my own views (which I keep to myself) and I didn't join Facebook to talk politics.ohno: I don't take part on the politics boards anywhere. It causes hard feelings and arguments. There is enough negative crap going on in the world without having to hear that. MickeyMac 07-25-2014, 02:25 PM I try not to unfriend people, but i did have to do that because people refused to stop posting smart assed remarks on my page when it came to politics. I try to stay away from that topic, but occasionally I will make a politcal post. No regrets, because the interesting thing about politics is you will find out who your true friends are when you make known your views. At the same time I have been unfriened by people who did not agree with my views. Didnt shed any tears over that. Vahan 07-25-2014, 02:49 PM Luckily, no. Vahan 07-25-2014, 02:52 PM Losing friends over politics is indeed tough. As someone with no political affiliation, I find it impossible making friends with the far-right. I noticed that they hate people who: 1) Do not vote with their pocketbook. 2) Still have cable TV (someone even called for those who still have it to be slapped!). 3) Are not a fan of Golden Age Hollywood. GARFIELDKOOL 07-25-2014, 04:03 PM Yes, I've been unfriended by a bunch of people, or some just delete their page. Sometimes I go back and see if a person has unfriended me or deleted their page especially if I hadn't seen them on there in a while. Like MickeyMac said, I try not to unfriend anyone. But the only person who I unfriended was my niece who I really don't like. She makes vile comments about everything and negative comments about family and announces what she's going to do if someone "F--ks with her." I don't need anyone like that on my Facebook.....family or not. retrofan05 07-25-2014, 06:16 PM I have been unfriended by a few people, but don't know why. I am not overly political on FB, nor do I post a lot of controversial stuff. I can understand deleting someone if you have a problem with them personally, but if you just don't like what they're posting, why not just unfollow them? I have unfollowed several people because I don't like their posts whether political or otherwise, but I still like them as a person. It's just as easy to unfollow someone. You will no longer see their posts, but they won't be offended because you still have them as a friend. MrCleveland 07-25-2014, 06:17 PM I don't unfriend either, but when someone unfriends me...they refriend me only because they were cleaning-out their FB page. I rarely post anything dumb...especially when it comes to politics! Someone unfriended me because she thought I was TOO closed-minded (She lives in L.A. and I hope to never cross her in my life)! There's just more to America than The East Coast, West Coast, and Chicago! There's just more to America than The East Coast, West Coast, and Chicago! She does not speak for people like me. I live in L.A., and I am NOTHING like her at all. comedyfreak 07-26-2014, 05:50 AM I have been unfriended by people who don't want to be in contact anymore and I have unfriended people I don't talk to anymore, and recently dumped all my farmville friends since it was only for the game and I don't play anymore. I have very few non family friends I kept that I still have contact. icecream 08-02-2014, 05:00 PM I've been unfriended by three people in the last month, my friend count has gone down from 701 to 698. Facebook has a policy of not notifying someone when they've been unfriended but I wish they did, would save me time trying to figure out if it was someone important. GARFIELDKOOL 08-06-2014, 04:15 PM I just got unfriended by a guy that works for my company. He had co-workers on his friends list and he posted a position that was open and he put the hourly rate that it was paying. One of the higher ups got word and he was talked to about it and was advised to take everybody off his list who was a co-worker. Plus, a few months ago we had to sign this sheet about posting on social media during company time. I will unfriend someone if they start talking crazy TVFactFan 08-06-2014, 08:44 PM Yes, I've been unfriended by a bunch of people, or some just delete their page. I don't why I added my mom lol I unfriended my brother Retro4Life 08-06-2014, 08:47 PM Not that I know of, but it's possible, I really don't check my friends' list that often. I AM going to cull my own list a bit, though. In the early days of my account, I confirmed some folks that I really didn't know that well, and honestly, am not that interested in. I'm sure the opposite is true, too. Why people request friendship of folks they barely know is beyond me; then you get 'guilted' into confirming or risking 'hurt feelings'. I think they should call them "acquaintances" rather than "friends" because that's closer to the truth. GARFIELDKOOL 08-08-2014, 07:10 PM I don't why I added my mom lol I unfriended my brother Why did you unfriend your brother if you don't mind me asking? TVFactFan 08-08-2014, 11:59 PM Why did you unfriend your brother if you don't mind me asking? because he was not responding to nothing I said in his thread so after a while I said, "**** it, DELETE Family Ties Forever! 08-09-2014, 09:33 PM My sister goes through cycles where she unfriends me. She has even blocked me. There's no reason for it. She does it because she knows it hurts my feelings. A former teacher who used to be a friend of mine unfriended me in August 2012. I sent her a friendship card in the mail. She got upset and decided she didn't want to be friends with me. All because it was a photo friendship card and she thought the picture wasn't a good one of her. The picture had her, another teacher friend of mine and me in it. I thought she woudl like it. I was wrong. BachelorCat 08-10-2014, 01:06 PM I called Casey Anthony a name on Facebook, my brother's wife took exception to it (THAT WORD) and sent me an email to stop things like that because my relatives were reading it. I blocked her, deleted the comment, and she unfriended me a few days later. My family seldom reads anything I post, and almost never comments, even when it's something that they'd like. My sister won't join Facebook because her daughter posts things she's afraid to see that make my worst efforts look like Christian Scientist quotes. Lately, I've stayed away from inflammatory posts and topics. Wawwie 08-10-2014, 01:57 PM I don't why I added my mom lol I unfriended my brother That's funny. TVFactFan 08-10-2014, 02:20 PM That's funny. I use the word mutherf* a lot when posting about sports and my mom sent e a text saying...."do you really have to use that word on FB? lol I told her don't read my posts on Mondays starting in sept because I will be using that word a lot lol IllinoisTVFan 08-31-2015, 09:58 PM Mods, I hope it's okay to bump this because I didn't want to create an identical thread. Anyway, this is something bothering me. I haven't posted that much on Facebook lately but did post an update on my health. I talked about me recovering from erythrodermic psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. I wasn't looking for sympathy, just explaining where I've been because a few asked. I noticed after that I had several unfriendings. One was an old friend from high school. We kept in touch but a few years ago got religious so we didn't talk as much (I'm religious too but some of his views were too much). Another was an ex who I remained friends with and even helped with his resume.several months ago several others unfriended me, including an aunt that didn't like that I didn't date dads. Probably because that type of stuff should not be shared on facebook IllinoisTVFan 08-31-2015, 10:22 PM Other people do so I see nothing wrong. I wouldn't even have posted it if a few were wondering where I was. The one friend I see unfriended pretty much everyone from school. Now if you are talking about have a cold that;s fine but not no serious health issues TVFactFan 09-03-2015, 12:14 AM I recently quit Facebook. I found the site to be depressing (too many memories and easy access to people from your past) Also Facebook became boring for me as well. Not if you become a member of facebook groups visaman666 09-03-2015, 02:55 AM I found it boring, because most people would post the same old, repetitious and trivial, crap over and over and OVER again! . Oh, like on this website? GARFIELDKOOL 09-03-2015, 09:37 AM I use the word mutherf* a lot when posting about sports and my mom sent e a text saying...."do you really have to use that word on FB? lol I told her don't read my posts on Mondays starting in sept because I will be using that word a lot lol Solomon seriously, if you know your mom is on your list, you need to know to clean it up to a certain extent. Sports or not. It's called respect. My brother's daughter unfriended him a while back because she was cussing and he told her about that, so she unfriended him because of that. Not saying you to unfriend your mom, but that's how my niece handled it. 80sTrivia 09-04-2015, 06:56 PM I haven't unfriended anyone, but I have unfollowed a few over the years, people who tend to post endlessly about the same thing! Unfollowing is much easier and saves hurting anyone's feelings. A few people have unfriended me over the years, but their reasons are their own, I suppose! So many of my friends on FB I met on other forums and message boards I've been a member of over the years. Those forums aren't as active as they once were in the pre-Facebook heyday of forums, but we all maintain contact on Facebook, which is great! I also enjoy adding new friends, though! TVFactFan 09-04-2015, 09:26 PM But on Facebook it was a different kind of "trivial and repetitious crap". It was more egocentric. I enjoying Sitcomsonline again. There have been a couple of members on this site that have made this board interesting again. I am glad that I am back  Also, as I mentioned earlier, there were too many reminders on Facebook, too many memories (that I wanted to walk away from) I wish all of my friends on that site nothing but happiness, but I had to move on. Facebook was literally (and I know this sounds ridiculous) making me sad :( And I hate death and health annoucements on FB TVFactFan 09-04-2015, 09:27 PM Solomon seriously, if you know your mom is on your list, you need to know to clean it up to a certain extent.
