Comic-Con: MTV’s "Teen Wolf" Renewed for 20-Episode Fifth Season

MTV made the long-awaited announcement to a room full of screaming fans at San Diego Comic-Con. The 20-episode fifth season will be split in two parts the way the supernatural high-school series aired in Season 3, which also was super-sized (24 episodes).

Seasons 1, 2 and 4 each have consisted of 12 episodes running continuously.

Tyler Posey, along with co-stars Dylan O’Brien, Tyler Hoechlin, Holland Roden, Shelley Hennig and Dylan Sprayberry, as well as EP Jeff Davis, were on hand for a panel Q&A in the show’s fifth consecutive showing at Comic-Con.

Here's some info from the panel.

- Newly beta’d cast member Dylan Sprayberry will be a series regular come Season 5.

- On Stiles and Malia’s Relationship:

“They’re unique,” Shelley Hennig said.

Tyler Posey asked if they will ever have have sex, and Hennig responded:

“Of course they will but, thanks to Jeff Davis, they have a rocky road ahead of them.”

Jeff Davis added, “The secret of Malia’s “parentage will cause major issues.”

- Tyler Hoechlin On Derek’s Big Change:

“Derek hasn’t told everyone about his whole ‘I’m losing my powers’ debacle. He’s going to have to figure out who he is when he’s not a werewolf. It’s being a human, moving on and finding your identity.”

- Jeff Davis On Lydia's Struggle To Find Her Identity as a Banshee:

“One of the things we’ve really enjoyed about crafting Lydia's arc is that we can do it slowly. We can do it over seasons and seasons. It’s a struggle for her to master her powers, and we’re going to see in the next two episodes how she struggles with that.”

- The gang is also changing the rules of the dead pool game by making their own list of assassins to kill.

There’s “a lot of decision-making” in the coming weeks, Davis explained. “A lot of character arcs are coming to a finish. One of the last lines Peter says is, ‘It was my bite that changed your life; it’s my bite that can end it.’”

(Spoiler alert: Peter was in full wolf makeup when he made that threat.)
