I have to agree that Put On A Happy Face is one of the funniest episodes of the series. It appeared that the cast really enjoyed it also as they all seemed to be having a good time.

You blog is a highlight of the week to read. Well thought out, well written, and the subjects are fantastic. Thank you for covering MTM ... and yes, "Happy Face" is the highlight of the season. It is fun to see our perfect Mary have a not-so-perfect streak!!

I enjoyed "Put On a Happy Face"; seeing Mary deal with things going wrong was hilarious.

However, I'd pick one of your also-rans, "It's Whether You Win or Lose", as the best ep of this season. Perhaps it's because I'm a journalist, but the scene at the end when Ted butchers Japanese Minister of Finance Ideko (sp?) Kawasaki's name is still well-remembered in newsrooms across the country. And I still chuckle at Lou saying, "Why should Ted care if they devalued the yen?!"

Also loved Lou calling in Gordy and ordering him to change the weather so Lou could go on his trip to Vegas; Lou's description of the snow that caused the cancellation of that trip; Mary setting up the poker game; Gordy trying to explain poker to the dim-witted Ted; Marie coming over to Mary's apartment in a panic; and Mary being "banished from this kingdom"! Great, and real, office humor.

Other eps I loved from this season: "My Brother's Keeper", with its fantastic ending, and "Farmer Ted and the News", with the great scene when Mary sees Ted doing his commercial on late-night TV and calls Lou.
