So I'm watching the episode 'Coming Of Age' in which Kimberly who will turn 18 will be inheriting a trust fund to which she decides on going to Europe to stay with a family because she feels the need for independency, at the end she agrees to going to Paris but by next episode there's no mention of it, what gives?

Another episode from season 6 'The Boyfriend' has Kimberly going out with a guy named David to which Drummond doesn't approve but David's brother Michelle has the sneaky idea of telling Kimberly to tell her father that she's moving in with Michelle but in reality it's David's apartment she'll be living in, at the end Kimberly can't stand lying to her father so she comes right out saying that she and David are engaged.

And then nothing happens, curious enough this was the 14th episode in production order but was aired as the season 6 finale, and if we're to go by production order the next episode would be when Philip meets Maggie which was aired as the 13th episode. So what gives with these plotlines? was Kimberly going to end up getting married or did her falling out with producers due to her pregnancy just nix the idea?

It could've been that, but maybe the producers were aware that they were letting go of Dana Plato and were looking for different ways to write her out of the show (sending her to Europe, giving her a fiancee, etc.). They could have also moved that 14th episode to the end of the season because Dana Plato was already let go at that time and they needed to spread out the remaining episodes that she was in.

It could also have been what was typical of sitcoms - changes are made to a certain character, but by the next episode everything returns to the status quo and no mention is made of it again (my favorite example of this is the Three's Company episode where Mr. Furley takes in a stray kitten, and after that episode the kitten disappears and no one mentions what happened to it).
