* Maj. Frank Burns: Larry Linville or Robert Duvall
Larry Linville - Much more unlikable than Duvall, thus just the right Frank Burns, a character who should get no sympathy if played correctly!
* Maj. Margaret Houlihan: Loretta Swit or Sally Kellerman
Sally Kellerman - Kellerman, by a... urm... nose.
* Lt. Col. Henry Blake: Roger Bowen or McLean Stevenson
McLean Stevenson - By far more depth and humor in Stevenson's take.
* Capt. John McIntyre: Wayne Rogers or Elliott Gould
Elliott Gould - Gould by a long shot though probably not Rogers' fault, the changes in his character and scriptwriters leaning to Alda held him down.
* Capt. Benjamin Pierce: Donald Sutherland or Alan Alda
Alan Alda - After 11 years, Alda literally seemed to /become/ Hawkeye, or Hawkeye became Alda... who can tell?
* Tim Christopher as Father Mulcahy
