Yes. I received the same email yesterday.

My only hope is that they have VOD's of the cases already featured.

I didn't but I'm so excited that they're upgrading the website. I can't wait to see it!

I'm really hoping we can use this new website to get more people involved again, and get fans interested in a possible revamp that's properly executed.

If you look at what UM did in it's prime...all the cases they solved....we need to get there again, if only for the people it brings closure to.

Perhaps I'm wrong but I'm guessing both yourself and Kane at one point or another emailed the production company and they retained your email addresses on file somewhere. That is assuming neither of you have changed your email addresses from then until now...

A reboot of the website is interesting stuff as it was mentioned above getting some VOD content would be optimal. I doubt it but I got my fingers crossed nonetheless.

Edit: If they do add some VOD content I hope they include some "Final Appeal" content and the infamous Todd McAfee segment. I heard this finally surfaced awhile back. Were we ever able to confirm the unidentified scenes from the opening montage were in fact from this segment?

I was actually able to see this episode shortly before all the UMs were yanked from the forbidden site. Which unidentified scenes in the opening montage are you referring to? I could check them out and see if it rings a bell, though it was over a year ago.

Yes, I've e-mailed them some questions about the show over the years. For example, my information about the Final Appeal episode airdates came from them.

Yes. The scene showing the man raising a rifle was from the Todd McAfee segment. There was a re-enactment which showed McAfee arriving home at his trailer while the burglary was in progress. He jumps out of his truck and pulls out a revolver to fire upon the the burglars. Unfortunately, they shoot first - with the rifle.

I still never found out the source of that one clip of the biker-looking guy in the leather jacket running around the side of a building only to throw up his hands when he encounters two police officers with drawn guns.

However, I think it is likely the scene originated from the Gus Hoffman segment, as you suggested. Upon watching it more closely, a biker resembling the guy in the intro can be seen in the re-enactment where the bikers confront Gus at the house.

Possibly, this was one of the men arrested for Hoffman's murder. However, if the original intent and purpose of the UM segment was to capture John Stelle, but he was arrested before the UM segment could be aired, as you postulated, the segment would have been pulled back for editing and revisions.

I know one of the scenes Dante was talking about is a scene in which a man shoots a gun next to a trailer. The guy kind of looks like Mo from the 3 Stooges. It was indeed from the Todd Mcafee segment.

Your guess is correct. I emailed UM about six years ago and they have kept my email address ever since.

At this point I'd settle for a working website revamp lol. It seems to be having issues already. It's down.

UPDATE: Homepage is back up, all other pages still down.

UPDATE 2: All pages back up.

I don't mean to sound like a downer, but me neither. I'm not sure what the aim of the site is. If it's some sort of attempt to test the waters for producing new episodes, I think it should at least be stated that that's an idea floating around. I think that would more effectively enthuse viewers than simply neatly re-organizing the information on the old site and allowing people submit news links.

I just subscribed to their YT. They don't have any content uploaded yet, and as far as I can tell, they only have 6 subscribers so far.

All of this Unsovled Mysteries talk has gotten me missing the show. I'm gonna set a series recording on my DVR to record the episodes off Lifetime.

Yep, just saw that! I've been following the Lacey Gaines case since I first saw it on websleuths.

I'm glad UM YT is putting up stuff like that on their channel. Very much needed, imo.

Weird, I have hassled CMP over the years and didn't get the email. I also remember subscribing to their list.

I'm actually excited about the revamp now with YT. Hopefully they upload complete seasons soon although it's probably a long shot.

from unsolved.com/faqs:

"Q: Why can’t I find Unsolved Mysteries on YouTube, Netflix or Hulu?
A: Due to guild restrictions in place when the show was created, we cannot allow segments to run on YouTube. For episodes to be available on Netflix or Hulu, those services would have to purchase the episodes."

And here I thought Unsolved Mysteries was one of the most requested Netflix shows.
