Nickelodeon has canceled "Sam & Cat" amid behind-the-scenes drama with stars Ariana Grande and Jennette McCurdy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Nickelodeon will not be producing more episodes of Sam & Cat," a network spokesperson told THR in a statement. "We are very proud of the show and its very talented cast and we wish them all the best."

McCurdy and Grande have reportedly been feuding over salary negotiations since Grande's music career has launched dramatically after the series debut.

Ariana Grande addressed the cancellation on Facebook Sunday.

"I want to thank Nickelodeon for making a childhood dream of mine come true, for being a family to me, for being so accommodating and supportive of my multitasking with my music career, and for of course introducing me to many of my fans however many years ago," she wrote.

There's no word on whether a final "Sam & Cat" episode will wrap up any story lines.

Creator Dan Schneider is already focusing on his new series, "Henry Danger", which is scheduled to debut in the fall.

I fully expect Nickelodeon to come up with a NEW!!! spin-off starring Dice from Sam & Cat and Sinjin from VicTORious! as two wacky kids that get thrown together through a complicated and thoroughly unreasonable series of events, and now they live together, fight crime, work as part-time school teachers and are also pop-stars.

Only Nickelodeon could bungle their most popular show so badly to the point that it wouldn't last beyond one season.

The should have spun off Freddy and Gibby instead of Sam.

I agree. Those 2 were more likeable.

They need to remove this show from the Choice TV comedy list of the upcoming Teen Choice Awards 2014 and get replaced by another TV comedy show right away!

Sam and Cat were in the opening scene together and after that they had separate stories and no sign of Goomer. Sad ending I guess there was conflict between McCurdy and Grande.

Sam & Cat started off like a guaranteed success, combining two of Nickelodeon’s biggest characters into one crossover series with instant fan interest. On the surface, everything looked perfect, strong ratings, built in audiences, and a concept that should’ve worked long term.

But as the show progressed, things behind the scenes became more complicated.

In this video, I break down the full story behind Sam & Cat, from production challenges and shifting schedules, to the cast’s changing career paths and the broader environment surrounding Nickelodeon at the time. While the show appeared lighthearted on screen, the reality behind it involved multiple factors that impacted its direction and eventual ending.

We’ll also look at how Ariana Grande’s rising music career, Jennette McCurdy’s personal experiences in the industry, and ongoing production issues all played a role in shaping the show’s short run.

This isn’t just about why the show ended, it’s about how multiple pressures came together at once and changed the course of something that once had massive potential.
