Forgive me if this was already posted but I just came across this and my heart broke. I always felt so bad for Gilbert. Not only was he poisoned by his wife, his son was taken away from him for many years.

Apparently now after fighting so hard to find Jonathan, Jonathan assaults him and blames him for his mothers arrest. So sad. Sounds eerily similar to the baskin case, where the children were most likely brain washed after being stolen by their grandparents. I hate that horrible criminals can just brainwash children like this and convince them that the parents who are searching for them are the bad guys. UGH.

He has other criminal charges I believe too. His mother did a number on him. A good upbringing is vital to becoming a man IMO.

I see that Jonathan was sentenced to a year in jail followed by probation for assaulting his father.

In OTHER news, Elizabeth Fuentes was denied parole (http://www.smdailyjournal.com/articles/lnews/2014-02-05/woman-who-poisoned-husband-denied-parole/1776425117685.html) again earlier this year. Can't say that I'm shedding too many tears over that one, especially considering how Jonathan turned out. Talk about the ultimate brainwashing of a child...

The combo of getting his mothers genes and having been raised by her seems to made him a monster too. Tragic. Yeah, I think I heard this awhile back. Odds are he will be in and out of prison for most of his life. Sad

Wow I never knew this and this is a case I saw several times on lifetime and thought that Gilbert would be able to move on. Sadly it appears this idiot ruined his life...children don't know any better but to love their parents sand when they find out the truth it can be hard. but this guy shouldn't of beat on his dad like that.

Gilbert needs to cut this guy out of his life son or not. Unless he is actually serious about getting help for his anger & addiction issues of course. Otherwise you fear the son will finish what the mother attempted.

Yeah that's just sad it was already one of the saddest cases ever featured without the son attacking his father. Just shows the importance of good parenting. We saw a lot of wack jobs over the years ruining the lives of their children. Maybe grounds for a "who's the worst parent/grandparent" thread if there isn't already one.

What a ungrateful *******. Hopefully Gilbert can move on with his life without his deadbeat son.

I remember how heartbroken he was when he appeared on UM. "If she wants to leave, that's one thing. But to take the kid?"

Just awful.

Charming and brilliant fellow. I see he became a gang member and brainstormed that a guy wearing a blue shirt just had to be a rival gang member, necessitating a three-man assault.

Jonathan was sentenced to 4 years in prison for that assault and the incident violated probation regarding the attacks on his dad, triggering a concurrent 5 year jail term.

I wonder if when he was taken into custody by the bailiff, his mother was standing by yelling, "He's got Jonathan! That man has Jonathan!"

Heh.

Considering how Jonathan turned out, that man should have kept him.
