There was a young female college student who was murdered. I think she wrote for the school paper or a newspaper. She reported the rape of a girl by a fraternity (I think that is right). She was threatened many times but still reported it because she thought it was worth it even if it helped one girl.
Her Mother did most of the talking on the interview. I remember her saying "I'm Obsessed with it." I think this happened in the mid 90s. Do anyone know what I am talking about and was this ever solved???
Thanks

Yes. That was the case of Brook Baker, a journalism student at Vincennes University in Indiana. It was solved. The man who murdered Baker was a roommate of a man she had been dating. I don't think the reason behind the murder had anything to do with the article she wrote; the dude was just a sicko (who also had murdered another Vincennes student, IIRC).

You mean they don't still show that one 8 times a week on lifetime?

Yeah this was released as part of the "Bizarre Murders" DVD set that came out around a decade ago (wow has it really been that long?). Sad case, I remember a few years back we did a poll on these forums about some of the most attractive people ever featured on UM and Brook Baker was pretty high on my list. Very pretty girl who unfortunately became the target of a deranged stalker/murderer.
As I remember the guy's name was Brian Jones and he was either a friend or a roommate of a young man who dated Brook Baker. Jones became obsessed with Brook Baker and eventually raped and murdered her in some type of bizarre homage to the movie "Curdled" (I think that was the title of the movie anyhow). Basically the crime scene that Jones left in both the Baker case and the subsequent murder of another Vincennes student was right out of the movie. Because the crime scenes were so similar it lead authorities to believe that the same perpetrator was responsible for both murders and they were eventually lead to Jones who I believe got a life sentence as part of some sort of plea bargain.

Yes this was a very sad case and it turned out none of the theories presented were correct. The fraternity, the potential roommate, and the creepy landlord were all not involved here. I remember even her female cousin was considered suspicious for hiding information, which never got answered.
I always thought the landlord angle was terrifying and I can see why cops considered it, considering he entered her apartment when she was in the shower and watched her through her windows!

Brian Jones has tried that angle as well. I read one of his appeals and he tries to implicate the landlord as the murderer of Brook Baker.
