If I was the age I am right now in 1976 I would be interested in having Donna for a sugar momma LMAO

Yeah Donna was nice , classy, had a job and was pretty too! Fred was older and well Fred was Fred! I think she was a really kind hearted woman that saw the good in people and thought she could be of help to Fred, being that she was a nurse ( think she was a nurse , right?) . You see that a lot, women that have stuff going for them, going with a guy that is not their equal at all. It's the nice girl trying to tame/change the bad boy.

If it were these days, Donna probably would be going for Lamont. The older women /younger man cougar thing!!! LOL!!!!

And on a side note, the actress who played Donna , Lynn Hamilton also was on the Waltons! She played a neighbor named Verdie. Same type of character too. A really nice, kind hearted women. Wow, she must have been busy, she played both rolls at the same time! And I believe Sanford was on NBC channel and Waltons was on CBS , so she couldn't just walk over from set to set. She wasn't on every episode of either show, but still, having to learn her lines from both shows and go to two different studios!

Bonnie I see you are a fan of 70's sitcoms and was wondering if you like the Jeffersons?

I will get over there eventually!!! :)

With the Jefferson's I was disappointed when they left All in the Family.:( That episode when they were leaving and Louise came over to say goodbye in the kitchen. That touched my heart! I always liked the Jefferson's better on All in the Family than on their own show. But, like I said, I do like the Jefferson's show too. And Lionell, the original (Mike Evans) was REALLY hot too!!!:happyface Than they got a new Lionell, but Mike came back at the end of the series, right?

My top fav 70's shows are

Brady Bunch, Sanford, Chico, Good Times, Alice (I haven't posted there yet) Three's company. :)

Hi TVFactfan! As much as I love the 70's I have to say I think my heart belongs to the 60's a little more.:) I LOVE my Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, Gilligan's Island, Bewitched, Mr. Ed, Dennis the Menace! :) But than I also love the 70's shows that I listed before too. Even some 80's and 90's . These days , not so much. I don't like modern day comedy too much! :( If I watch something recent, it is Investigative Discovery (ID TV crime) or TLC (love my Honey Boo Boo)!!! :) ;) I started a thread on HBB, and nobody replied yet!

Face it, Fred has that Beat-cool class about him... obviously she was charmed by him, who wouldn't be?

After all, the guy was a reclusive genius, obviously Redd Foxx playing himself!

Fred would be really fun to hang out with. The type of guy you would like as a friend. I'd like to have a few beers with him, watch the Lakers but IDK if I would want to be his girlfriend though?

I never saw Lamont as actually hating Donna, did he?

Ah... poor Fred, hit with the old "We can still be friends..." ego bruiser.

We have seen this plot on many shows where the son/daughter does not like the idea of their parent dating anyone other than their other parent. So in other words, Lamont did not like to see his dad with anyone other than Elizabeth is mom.

Early on Fred and Donna planned to get married and Lamont hated the idea. He thought Fred was too old to get married again and that Donna bad intentions. Lamont referred to Donna as "The Barracuda" and the rift between them was fierce. As the series progressed, Lamont mellowed and accepted Donna. He even was complimentary of her in later seasons.

I never saw Lamont as actually hating Donna, did he?

In early episodes he resented her because he thought Fred was trying to replace his mother. He warmed up to her later on and was very friendly to her.

I think ppl can date who they want, not all women desire the same thing, nor do all men.

Yeah Fred might be fun to hang out with IF HE LIKES YOU, lol but if he doesn't you're going to be the butt of a lot of cruel insults.

And Lamont didn't like Donna at first b/c as another said, he felt she was trying to replace his mom, and he didn't like her coming into the house trying to take things over. Donna DID have a take charge nature, and it rubbed Lamont the wrong way b/c Lamont also like to be in charge.

Another thing I'm wondering though, in an earlier episode when Lamont tries to move out on his own, he gets an apartment and the woman who plays Donna is his landlady, and she and Lamont get into a big fight over Lamont's girlfriends being there. I just wonder do you think that woman was possibly supposed to BE Donna, and maybe that's what started the initial conflict?
