"Glee's" Final Season Trimmed to 13 Episodes

As "Glee" limps to the end of its six-year run, Fox has trimmed the musical's final season order to just 13 episodes, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

The reduced order was widely expected, especially after "Glee" was left off of Fox's fall lineup during the upfronts earlier this year. The show is undergoing a reboot in its final season, moving to a new location to be announced.

In 2013, Fox picked up "Glee" for two full seasons. However, its fifth-season was cut to 20 episodes, and the original order for the sixth season was 24 episodes.

I suspect that it's getting the short episode order because its ratings/viewership have ht all-time lows during the 5th season. Anytime you have a U.S. scripted network TV show sinking below a 1.0 in the 18-49 demo and 3 million viewers, that's a sure sign that it'll soon be gone from original episodes permanently. Also, most people have stated that they have been hating Glee so very badly.

More likely we still hate fired FOX member Kevin O'Reilly continuously because he's the one who messed both this show and The Mindy Project very badly.

Fox Networks Group chairman Peter Rice took the stage on his own at the network’s executive session at the TCAs this morning.

He addressed why "Glee's" final season only has 13 episodes.



“I think Glee is one of the great shows in television history. It touched so many hearts and brought social issues to the forefront, and it burned so hot and so fast.

It’s been on for over 100 episodes now and six seasons, and we want it to go out in a way that celebrates it. And we thought that finding 13 episodes and compacting it and doing it in a straight run was a better way to finish the show.”

I would prefer either 12 or 16 episodes for Glee.

The episode order should be 12, not 13. 13 is too much of an imbalanced number.
