I thought The Great Indoors had potential, it was certainly better than some of the other sitcoms on CBS at the time. The show struggled and never really caught on with the audience, it's a mystery to me.

The Cool Kids should have been a big hit. There is an old saying, "a camel is a horse designed by a committee" and The Cool Kids are a living example of that old expression. This series should have been "The Golden Girls" for the baby boomer generation. Rather than structuring the show around a homogeneous group of people they tried to pull in as many variables as possible, that's why it failed. I agree they should take another run at it, this could be a Friends, a Seinfeld, The Big Bang Theory or The Golden Girls if someone with a creative vision puts it together.

I know that Vicki Lawrence played Thelma 'Mama' Harper for decades but she just seemed way too young and vital to have been believable as someone living in an assisted living retirement home (and it didn't help that she played the character closer to her own offstage persona than making much if any attempt to play her as an older person who'd have needed to have been in one of those institutions). Truly, it might have worked had they cast a woman who was at least willing to appear and act like someone old enough to have been in that kind of facility.

I loved The Cool Kids. Vicki Lawrence is a great actress but I agree someone else should have played her role.

Vicki Lawrence was just fine on The Cool Kids, so was her persona. I wouldn't have wanted anyone else playing her part.

I also liked The Cool Kids, and thought it deserved at least another season or two myself.

I must be old for only a few shows listed I have heard of on this thread.
