On the hunt for obscure shows and TV commercials that are not out there yet I obtained a giant collection of about 90 some vhs from late 80s - early 90s. so far all I've watched is some older SNL skits from 1990 and one of the main event episodes with Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage...we shall see what I find worth keeping. Let me know whats out there from 89-95ish thats being sought.

That is awesome! Of course, being a Disney freak please be on the lookout for The Torkelsons, Flash Forward, Ready or Not, or Ocean Girl episodes!!

Sounds very fun, I hope you find a lot of good stuff.

Most of the tapes if not all are films taped off HBO, network channels, TNT...etc. I do not think any episodes are going to pop up but there are commercials for short-lived television shows, and I'm hoping maybe I am going to get some rare commercials that even have it popped up on YouTube... a lot of these are available on there already. ALF/Hogan Family promo, old Roseanne promo, etc. right now the tape I am watching is of TNT's old monstervision marathons and it's a marathon of the outer limits. pretty neat to see it since my family wouldn't have even had tnt for a few years, but it looks like a lot of this has already been archived and is available on YouTube or general information with a Google search.

this would be so much easier if I just had a big list of all the television shows that are available in the tradeing circuit. :(

In my opinion, you should save everything. Anything that is on Youtube can be deleted at any time. (It's good for the rights holders, but bad for others.) I've seen it happen repeatedly. Also, I don't mind having the same airings from different affiliates. It's kind of interesting.

The whole "trading circuit" thing isn't entirely true. I have some specific recordings that were not traded often or even at all.

Please, please, please. If you have some Color Honeymooners episodes, please let me know. Thank you. The ones that I am looking for the short sketches from the 1968-1969 season as well as "The Incredibel World of Ed Norton", that unlike the rest have not seen the light of day since the 60s/70s

Sorry, I saw that you said that the footage you acquired was from the 80s and 90s.

There was a recording of The Parent Trap from late 80's (or early 90's) Disney Channel. All commercials were on it. The problem is I currently do not have anyway to put these commercials online except via a cellphone and that isn't feasible at the moment. Also, I checked and most of the promos on my tapes are on YOUTUBE with a quick search for old Disney Channel Commercials. I found an episode of the one hit wonder "Babes" from 1990 but quality is iffy and a quick search also shows the whole series is out there for trade already.

If someone has a trade list (only looking for obscure shows that lasted one season or two mostly) I might just give them the VHS for a DVD or something...whatever we could work out. PM any discussion about it I guess.

The commercials would have to come either before or after the movie because Disney Channel did not air commercials in between shows or movies until 1997.

I am looking for two episodes of Nashville Now that had Sha Na Na appear as guests. One episode I think was from 1993 which had Chico Ryan on the show. He and Lennie did a duet and he did the Polka Dot bikini song. Especially looking for that episode.

I just received another 120 or so tapes from the same person. Now, the only network tv series I have found on the tapes so far are a few Wonder Years episodes, Home Improvement, one Doogie Howser episode, and ALOT of General Hospital and One Life to Live? episodes. I personally am not saving these because as far as I know these series are WIDELY available on DVD and complete, better quality episodes are out there from other traders.

Babes (1990) is the only one that really struck me as obscure and neat to own an episode of.

They also have taped ALOT of tv movies and such....Wonderful World of Disney airings of Flight of the Navigator, Pollyanna, etc.

early 90's commercials as well from WGN, TNT, TBS...but again..nothing of real importance or that I couldn't locate with a YOUTUBE search.

I'll keep my eye out though for of note things.

^I'm not a fan of soap operas by any means, but you want to hold on to those, at least for a little while. I do know that traders are sometimes interested in those. They are also somewhat rare since the episodes usually never get rerun. There was a soap opera channel called "Soapnet", but that went off the air. The episodes could be hard to categorize though since most have THOUSANDS of episodes and AFAIK no episode titles.

And some traders like anything with original commercials.

Latest tape has a tv airing of the Buddy Holly story film , an episode of Comic Strip: Live , and Party Machine with Nia Peeples. Taped in 1991.

Networking airing of tv movie, "People From Acrossed the Lake" on the next tape.

Tape after that had two cinemax films. The 1990 Oprah with Patty Duke, and Family Feud after that. All with original commercials.

- also 1997 USA tv movie, The Stepsister. With commercials.
