Perhaps what I'm about to say may be common knowledge already, but Jack and Karen were the real stars of this show, not Will and Grace.

Jack and Karen had all of the greatest laughs. Yes, Jack and Karen were shallow people, but at least they didn't hide it. With Will and Grace, they were shallow people who pretended to be the good guys, when most of the time, they were just as shallow as Jack and Karen, if not, moreso.

Here is my assessment of each character:

Will - I think most of his "jokes" flop hard, and his 'game show host' voice (you know the one) he does all the time isn't funny in the least. He thinks he is better than everyone else when he is not.

I think Will was really obnoxious at the end of season 3. For starters, he acted like he was embarrassed when he was dating Scottie, that 23 year old who worked at the video store, because he thought Scottie was too young for him. I guess he never thought what it might be like for Scottie and the flak he probably got from his friends for dating a then 37 year old. Who cares where he works? And then in the very next episode when his friends cancel the scuba trip, he acts like them putting their daughter Hanna on the phone was the greatest inconvenience that could belabor a person, he tells Hanna her parents are losers, then hangs up the phone on her (a young child) after a few seconds. WTH? If I called my friends losers, I would fully expect them to ditch me.

Grace - We know she's a liar, a cheater, and a stealer. Her food obsession is borderline crazy ("She'd eat her own foot if there were Parmesan cheese on it.") IRL, she'd be 300 pounds and have diabeetus. She also isn't very ladylike. She's also incredibly self-absorbed and tends to make decisions without taking into account how other people might feel. She's also a mooch. We've all known people like that IRL (those who constantly live off others) and those are the kind of people we disassociate with. She was the head of her own company and didn't need to rely financially on Will all the time.

Jack - I hated how Will constantly acted like hooking up with Jack was the grossest, most unthinkable thing that could ever happen. IRL, Sean is 6 years younger than Eric and more muscular. Eric is a catch, but Sean even moreso. You could tell in "Lows In the Mid Eighties" (one of the best episodes, btw) that Jack was really devastated when Will told him he wasn't interested in him that way. Jack was there for him when he came out and was a true friend.

Karen - funniest character. I find her generosity to be outstanding. I like her love/hate relationship with Rosario. She tends to be right more often than Grace gives her credit for.
