View Full Version : I don't have the DVD yet but I am confident this is the worst ep of season 3
TVFactFan 07-01-2014, 09:49 PM "Deprogramming of Arnold Horshack"
This fool is walking around in a robe the entire episode acting like a nut because he joined some religious commune
This maybe the worst episode of the series
treky 07-02-2014, 12:51 AM yes, I agree Sol. I remember when that one first aired back in 1977 thinking even then that it was stupid.

That ep shouldn't be on DVD or syndication
Skywalker 07-03-2014, 05:17 PM Barbarino in Love(2 Part Episode), A Novel Idea, A Sweathog Christmas Special, and Class Encounters of the Carvelli Kind are the worst episodes of Season 3, IMO.
The worst episode of the series is actually a Season 2 episode "There Goes Number 5" which was basically a backdoor pilot for the Arnold Horshack character. The Sweathogs are hardly in the episode and as bad as the season 4 episodes were, they weren't half as bad as that episode.

Kind of wish Ron Pallio left the show instead of Vinny and Gabe

Don't agree about Barbarino In Love especially part 1 which has the hilarious "Sweathog Performance" of "Geepers Creepers"! Deprogramming of Arnold Horshack was terrible though!

I will only watch it on the DVD because I paid money for it LOL

My favorite was Freddy "Boom Boom" Washington. :)

It's a ep with Freddie and Vinny doing a dance move together which has Gabe and Mr. Woodman staring at them in shock
Don't know the name of the ep, don't know what season. All I know it was not season 4 because TV Land didn't get up that far. So I am thinking one or two

I have a very vague memory of that.
Did Juan Epstein dance with them? Maybe I'm thinking of an entirely different episode because I also remember singing.
MikeLutton 07-13-2014, 02:07 PM esptein Madonna was one of my favorite episodes. when Epstein painted a nude on the wall outside the school and used Mis Kotter face and some other girl body

No it was just those two and they were slapping each other's hands while dancing
The scene took place in Mr, Kotter apt

Season 4 would have been a lot better without Horshack. Some of the worst episodes from that season are the ones where he had a major role like when he develops a drinking problem and when he falls in love.

To me the show started going downhill in season 3 because a lot of episodes started taking place outside of the classroom. I'm not really a fan of 2 parters in general, and with the exception of them singing that song, I thought it was pretty boring.

Speaking of which, did you notice how many sitcoms had the same plot of a character becoming an alcoholic, then they hit somebody and realize they need to stop? Good Times had a similar episode around that time where Thelma's husband starts drinking, then hits her, then stops. And a few years later on Family Ties, Elyse's brother (played by Tom Hanks) does the same thing, only this time he hits Alex.

They played part of it at least. I know they played "Arnold's Drinking Problem."

That was in the episode that just aired on MeTV - "The Return of Hotsy Totsy".

On the new "Complete Series" DVD the "There Goes Number 5" is labeled incorrectly. It is labeled as "Whatever Happened To Arnold, Part 2" for some reason.
I agree with your other choices of "Worst Episodes" of Season 3. Especially "A Novel Idea".
