Eve Plumb was trying to survive apparently LOL

She was trying to distance herself from her Brady Bunch role and I believe at the time the Variety Show started she was busy portraying a Teen Prostitute in Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway.

She is a great actress and she can prove she can do more than be Jan Brady.

Hey it was work and I credit her for doing it...not a bad commercial or job by Eve either. (& BTW I thought the BB variety hour was really forced & lame..so this commercial was by no means a "step down")

Eve was the smartest of the cast members to have NOT done the Variety Hour. It is consistently voted one of the worst series of all-time.

Agreed. This commercial was a paycheck at least. I am surprised though she is portraying just an employee and not giving some kind of Eve Plumb endorsement of Burger Chef.

I don't understand why people call The Brady Bunch Variety Hour one of the worst shows ever. I have to give the Brady cast credit. They really stretched themselves on that show and it seemed somewhat challenging for them. I appreciate the effort they put into it. How can anybody call TBBVH the worst show of all time? Surely it's better than the Kardashians.

Well I wouldn't say that....but the Bradys earned their paychecks for the Variety show. Hey, it gave them a chance to do something out of their standard genre. I wonder why more shows haven't done this when you think about it. Cancel a series and bring it back in a different genre. TV would be more interesting that way. And don't forget The Brady Bunch kind of did a drama with "The Bradys". So that means there was a Brady sitcom, a Brady variety show, and a Brady drama. You would think more shows would do this. If there's a hit drama and after it ends its run, bring it back as a sitcom, and vice versa. That way you get more life out of the characters, more work for the actors and more money can be made all around. Milk the cash cow more than once.

I agree with you, I've seen worse shows. I bought the Brady Bunch Variety Hour book and Susan Olsen signed it and thanked me for buying the book, she's a sweetheart.

I loved Burger Chef. You could sit at the counter on a spinning round stool covered in orange vinyl. I remember a nice lady actually filling the paper pouches with french fries, not like the half-empty stuff you get lots of times today at burger places.

It was a popular franchise and they did a lot of merchandising, including things like frisbees and beach balls. I'm sure Eve was well-compensated for her work.

Yea originally it was as a series of specials. I think it aired in the Hardy Boys timeslot.

According to Susan Olsen and Mike Lookinland, she was trying to distance herself. They also said that she was hot property at the time because she was doing the movie about the prostitute. So, it was not just the commercial but other things came into play. This weekend on the east coast is the Brady Bunch convention but she will not be participating in it although she lives right here in New York but the others will be there including fake Jan.(Geri Reischel)
