Has anyone here ever felt that they were born in the wrong time period?

Yesteryear was better, not so many false people running around. Familys were stronger... Neighbours, towns, and the country was stronger because folks believed in each other. People would stop if they saw someone stranded, you could let your kids walk along the road without worry,etc...

I kinda wish it was still the 80s,MUCH BETTER TIME!! (In almost every way)

I hate the way the world has become,NO QUALITY,THE CHEAPEST GARBAGE THEY CAN MAKE.... EVERYONE IS OUT FOR $$$ AND THEY DONT CARE ABOUT DOING GOOD ANYMORE....

My question is: HOW MUCH WORSE IS IT GONNA GET??

Many Times!

I wish I was born in the 30's or 40's...I would've enjoyed all the stuff in entertainment from 1930 to 1999.

If there was only a way to go back in time as a holograph...maybe 20 years from now....

I should have been born in 1960. Instead, I was born in the late 1980's.

I'm just glad I was born on October 2nd, being the huge Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock Presents fan that I am I couldn't have been born on a more perfect day. :D

I feel like that a lot. My brother used to (still does, I guess) make fun of me, he said I was born too late. I've always been ten or more years behind the times. I think the standard of living in my house now is in the 1970's.

And to add to my post, I should have been born in 1960, here in America. Preferably here in the Los Angeles area, where I currently live. When I was born in the late 1980's, I was born all the way at the crossroads of Western Asia and Eastern Europe. I have no memory of that time, as we all moved to America immediately.

I was born in a great time! I have lived through the 50's, 60's, 70's. They were very good times for me! The 80's and 90's weren't bad either. The 2000's? Not so good!:D

My grandparents and parents lived in the 30's. Not good. The Depression. No jobs, no money, The "Dust Bowl". My grandma has told me stories. It was Hell! The 40's was better even though WWII was going on. Prosperity started coming back after the war. We who were born in the 50's benefited from the post -war prosperity.

The 50s seem like a nice era; the music, clothes, movies, etc. I went to high school in the 70s, and that was a fantastic time. I'm happy the way things worked out.

I've felt like this many times, actually. I wasn't born way too late, maybe just a little. I loved growing up in the 1970's, but frankly, I don't care much for the direction the world has taken since then.

Seems like the culture is just not in synch with me at all, or vice versa. I'm not a person who likes things fast paced, I don't care for long or frequent travel. I like long conversations and looking at the clouds or taking a long walk; just placid, Mayberry type things. Today's culture is so hyperkinetic I feel lost a lot of the time.

Ethics? I'm not perfect by any means, but I'm shocked by the extent to which ethics don't even seem to enter the equation for most people. It's a horrendously selfish time, I think, and the wretched economy doesn't help at all.

As to pop culture, I REALLY try to like newer offerings but so much of it is ripoffs, remakes, reboots, or out and out steals from previous works I can't get into it. The few original works out there, particularly in television, are so cynical and negative I walk away being depressed after viewing them.

I miss the 70's a lot. My guess is I would miss the 60's a lot more.

When I was living in the 70's, I always felt that I should have lived in the 50's. I would collect records and listen to 50's radio stations all the time. I loved the music. I still do. Of Course I loved Happy days and American Graffiti. lol OK I know that was in the 60;s but a lot of the music was earlier and besides it was pre-Viatnam. lol Nowadays I get quite nostalgic for the 70's. Maybe you don't appreciate an era until it's gone. I think both eras are better than todays though.

Sonny, I think that's an important distinction to draw that many seem to forget. When we talk about "the 50's" we really mean the time up until about 1964. If you look at the hairstyles, clothing, culture in general of 1960-1964, it's basically just a continuation of the 50's. It's only in 1964, with the arrival of the Beatles and other British bands, plus the escalation of the Vietnam war and the emergence of the counterculture movement, that what we now think of as "the 60's" really began.

Same with the 1960's. I always think the 60's really lasted until about 1973, when Watergate hit and the "Me Generation" came into vogue. Til then, the 70's were just more of the 60's.

In the early days, when you make an call to a company or , hospital, you would get a warm voice saying, this is XYZ company, Shirley/Fred speaking, may I help you=. Now you get push button if you want this and then you wait sometime 10/15 minutes. . The automation is awful.

If there was a time machine that could take me to the '60s or '70s I'd still take it, and I'd love to experience the culture and music of that era firsthand. But I'd want to come back too. There's still beauty in the world today, and if I were born 50 years in the past I'd miss out on 50 years of the new stuff. By living today I get the best of both worlds in that I can always listen to older music and relive memories of the past.

I get that there's a lot of disgusting events in the world today but for some reason I'm optimistic about the future. Despite everything there's always going to be good people out there.

5-7 years ago the world shifted for me, most ppl and things seem lifeless now and void of substance. One word replies when you try to reach out, Facebook just memes and emojis, no real conversations, you reply to someone's comment and usually never hear back, or if you do it's one word and they act annoyed if you try to engage in a convo. I think technology has a lot to do with it, no attention span anymore
