I have a full time job and a part time job but the full time job i have is letting me go soon and my last day will be July 12th because the company decided to hire a contractor cleaning company to replace the housekeepers and porters. This is happening at every apartment building because the company has a lot of apartment buildings. My job position is a porter and i'm kinda sad that they're letting me go because i wanted to retire from this job. I had been there almost 9 years. I went to a job interview yesterday for a cleaning company and they're looking for a porter at a apartment building and the apartment building isn't that far from where i used to work. I'm also gonna be getting paid a little bit more than what i was making and i don't have to work weekends. I had to work weekends at my other job but i only worked 2 hours on Saturdays and Sundays.
I was surprised i got the job yesterday because when i had called the company before, they told me the job had been filled. But when i called back a few days later, i was told the guy that was hired got a job somewhere else. So the job opened back up and i was happy to here that. I'm glad i got this job because i didn't know what i was gonna do. The contractor cleaning company that's coming to my job was gonna offer me a job as a porter at a commercial building making more money than what i'm making but the supervisor hadn't called me yet to let me know if i'm gonna be offered the job. It's so hard to find a job especially when you're a black man and i know ya'll think the color of your skin doesn't matter when you're looking for a job but i don't agree. Racism still exists towards black men when they're looking for a job because if that wasn't the case, there wouldn't be a lot of black men unemployed. White men and foreigner men can get jobs before black men can and that's a reality.
Foreigner men especially hispanic men are now the new slaves on their jobs because they're getting paid a low salary and they're so happy to be working that they seem not to care about that. That's why i'm being replaced at my old job because the company only cares about saving money and they don't care about their employees. So they bring in a bunch of hispanic men and hispanic women to replace me and the housekeepers which is so typical at general labor jobs.
