Just wondering WHY hard work is looked at as a good thing and WHY ppl even say it's good for one.
Usually when there is an older person who's worked hard all his or her life they are totally worn out, body falling apart, can hardly walk, aches and pains every where, sore back, etc.... that is IF they live to be old.
But when there's an older person who's not worked at all much, they are usually in GREAT SHAPE usually ache and pain FREE, can walk well, and usually live to a ripe old age.
I've known several ppl in my life who have lived to be over 100, and their secret... no hard work!
But the ppl I know who have worked hard all their lives are usually doubled over with a walker at age 70.

I've done both so far - worked hard and came home worn out and now have trouble with my feet and back.
So I switched to an office job, where I was so bored I had trouble staying awake.
I guess the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Shouldn't hurt to do sth you really feel passionate about, so that work doesn't feel like work.

I have worked hard. It does wear you out. And I sometimes still do. I try to work smart not hard. But that is sometimes hard to do when your boss wants it done their way.

Hard work is NOT good for you. Productive work that pays extremely well without risking your health or your life is what's good for you.

I tend to think the phrase "Hard work is good for you," came from not loafing. Whether you are cotton ball lifter or a fisherman, doing something is good for the mind. I do believe the young should do the physical work for a while. How many roofers do you know that 50+. Your body should take only so much. No one will say at age 80 I should have kept on roofing. Also choose different jobs. Just don't do physical work, use your mind too.
