"Game of Thrones" To Get Real Queen on Northern Ireland Set

So much for all those Starks and Targaryens muddling up the blue (and red) blood on the sets of "Game of Thrones".

Now, the hit HBO show is getting a real queen, England’s Elizabeth II, who will sail onto the set in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter next week as part of a three-day visit to Northern Ireleand, her official Twitter feed announced this morning.

"As part of the visit to Northern Ireland The Queen and The Duke will tour the @GameOfThrones set in the Titanic quarter #Belfast #GoT"





The show shoots on a number of Northern Ireland sets for at least some of its key scenes, such as those at The Wall and the Eyrie.

No official word whether the Queen is a fan of the show, or whether she’ll bring her favorite dragon.

Queen Elizabeth II Visits "Game of Thrones" Set, But Doesn't Sit on Pretend Seat of Power

Queen Elizabeth II paid a visit to the Belfast set of "Game of Thrones" Tuesday, touring the series’ vast armory, perusing its racks of lavish costumes, and meeting actors including Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Conleth Hill (Varys), and Rose Leslie (Ygritte).

The real queen of seven independent Commonwealth countries did not, however, attempt to gain control of seven fictional kingdoms by taking a seat on the show’s fearsome Iron Throne — a chair constructed by a thousand surrendered blades, “heated white-hot in the furnace breath of Balerion the Black Dread.”
