The events of June 17, 1994 included a Howard Stern fan pranking Peter Jennings (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLmoqbR3gto) on live TV. PLUS: Al Michaels recalls (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKV1SHVZybw) that famous prank call.

This has nothing to do with sports, O.J. was long retired when this occurred.

What are you talking about!? So because O.J. wasn't playing pro football anymore, it's not relevant to sports!? The bottom-line is that O.J. was primarily known as a Hall of Fame running back for the Buffalo Bills (rather than playing Nordberg in The Naked Gun). O.J. was just prior to this, a commentator for NBC's NFL coverage. Plus, much was made about how the Bronco chase corresponded w/ Game 5 of the '94 NBA Finals on NBC (who did a split screen). I guess we can't discuss the recent passing of Tony Gwynn in the sports board either, since he hadn't played pro baseball in over 10 years

It's amazing how someone can totally misunderstand what I meant. The incident itself had nothing to do with sports. If OJ were still playing football at the time of the chase then I would consider this to be a sports story but like I said he was long retired and his football career was irrelevant when this happened.

As far as I know Tony Gwynn didn't knife 2 people to death. His passing from cancer is unfortunate but my thread about it is in the proper forum. If you don't think it is then contact TJ or Janice and tell them to move it. If OJ were still playing football at the time of the incident then I could see it being a sports related story.

IMO the thread should be merged with this one but that's not my call.

Again, I must reiterate that the chase went on at exactly the same time as Game 5 of the NBA Finals. If you were watching the game on NBC (NBC's coverage is further emphasized on ESPN's 30 for 30 program June 17, 1994), then chances are that you're affiliate split the coverage of the game and the chase.
And I still absolutely don't understand your logic or rationale that because O.J. had been long retired (even though he was most famous for being a pro athlete, retired or active), then it by default isn't at all, remotely sports related story.
