Last week I was watching a 1985 re-run of "The $25,000 Pyramid" on Game Show Network, and Betty White was on, touting a "new show on Saturday nights with Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty" (it's so cute hearing it being talked about modestly as a hopeful new show), which Dick Clark of course said was called The Golden Girls.
And then when the second half of the show started he mentioned the show to Betty again and said "and you're going to do it in Miami?", and Betty responded, "Well, we're flying down just to do the main titles, but we're doing the show here".
Wow! Has anyone else seen that episode or heard anything about this? Just think how different the show would have been had we been introduced to "the girls" each week strolling along the Boardwalk, cavorting on the beach, shopping in town---can you imagine? lol :)
