I have been watching the show for the last couple of days and I am seeing a lot of things that makes me believe that the actors of the show had some sort of connection to each other.

First we have John Lawlor (Phyllis's boss) who winds up playing the headmaster in season 1 of The Facts of Life along with Charlotte Rae who guest starred on Phyllis once. I don't believe they appeared in the same episode but that is an awesome coincidence.

Now let's speed up to when Cloris Leachman takes over for Charlotte Rae on The Facts of Life in the final years and connect the dots.

This may be too far fetched to wrap your head around and false but I am just stating my theory. I never watched this show when it originally aired and it was rarely on TV in syndication so I am a new fan of the show. Rhoda and The Mary Tyler Moore Show have aired several times in syndication but this one is pretty much forgotten. I guess having 2 seasons and less than 100 episodes is the reason it isn't syndicated that much.

good analysis. I didn't watch enough of phyllis or FOL to know that the guy played her boss and the headmaster on FOL

John Lawlor wasn't Phyllis' Boss,he was Harriet's Boss,(the other secretary) Phyllis' Boss was Dan,played by Carmine Carridi.

I always liked Phyllis better than Rhoda. I had a chance to watch most of the Phyllis eps back in the 1990s if I remember right. Funny and engaging!

And I'll add that Cloris was an underrated beauty. If you've ever seen the episode of Lassie where she's wearing a military-style uniform with skirt -- WOW! Hot woman.

I remember when Nick at Nite aired Mary Tyler Moore, Rhoda, The Betty White Show and Phyllis on Sunday nights, good times. Why cant they do that now?
