View Full Version : When people ask "what do you have planned for your birthday?" and you say...
TVFactFan 06-07-2014, 08:11 PM NOTHING, does that sound pathetic?
I find myself always lying and making up sh*t to not sound like a loser. My family used to do the birthday dinner thing from 2004 to 2011 but for some reason it stopped in 2012. All my friends either relocated or got married and I am single. And since I am not a party person what exactly would I be doing?
Mr. Television 06-07-2014, 08:22 PM I haven't done anything for my birthday in years. As you get older you realize birthdays are for kids. lol

Sol; there's no need to lie and make up stuff. It doesn't sound "pathetic" if you say nothing. Just tell them you're not doing anything because of all those reasons you said and I'm sure they'll understand. Lots of people don't do anything for their birthday.

do what makes YOU happy man - screw what anyone else thinks.
...and next time a girl asks you what you are doing on your birthday, take the hint and tell her "taking you out for dinner."

That's some imagination you have there, lol. Just make sure you keep your stories straight.
And no, you don't sound like a loser by doing nothing. Our lives usually get smaller as we get older.

I don't celebrate my birthdays, so telling someone I'm not doing anything is no big deal. Maybe when I hit a specific #, like 60 (which, God willing, will be in a few years) a party might be nice--but even if THAT didn't happen-no biggie.
I don't think having nothing going on makes you a loser. If you really want to celebrate, do something real nice for yourself, like a nice meal at a fancier restaurant. But since your family did have a tradition thing going on, I can see how you might feel a little let down.
P.S. I like RobyRob's idea--might be a good way to get a date with a gal you like. Also, doing something for someone else on your birthday makes you look kind of nice.

But why would I treat a women to dinner on MY BIRTHDAY?

Well I was saying that I don't have anyone in my family taking me to dinner on my birthday anymore
robyrob 06-08-2014, 11:09 PM But why would I treat a women to dinner on MY BIRTHDAY?
wouldn't you rather have a nice night out with an interesting woman than staying at home feeling sorry for yourself?
TVFactFan 06-08-2014, 11:11 PM wouldn't you rather have a nice night out with an interesting woman than staying at home feeling sorry for yourself?
No I rather an attractive women come to my apt on my birthday and we order dinner and play afterwards:wave:
Wawwie 06-08-2014, 11:19 PM But why would I treat a women to dinner on MY BIRTHDAY?
That's true. Yes, I think a man should pay for a date, but not on his birthday. If a woman asks you out on YOUR birthday, she should pick up the tab. It's your special day.
comedyfreak 06-09-2014, 05:53 AM I say nothing because no one asks, it's just another day for me.
Race's Girl 06-09-2014, 07:10 AM That I'm going shopping
MickeyMac 06-09-2014, 01:15 PM At this point all I care about is being blessed to see another birthday. Since this year I hit the big 4 0, I may do something.
TVFactFan 06-09-2014, 01:47 PM Looks like I have a plan all of a sudden
A girl I met online has offered to take me to a place called "carmine's" in Manhattan for my birthday.
TVFactFan 06-09-2014, 01:59 PM Correction my fantasy of having dinner in Manhattan on a saturday night has been changed. Instead we are going to the Carmine's in Alantic City.
I will get to Manhattan some day

she already made the reservations so it is now official, Atlantic City.
I am still kind of disappointed about Manhattan though. I know I sound like a spoiled brat lol
mets82 06-10-2014, 03:39 PM BTW, Happy Birthday!!!
It doesn't sound pathetic if you don't have anything planned for your birthday. My mother always wishes me a Happy Birthday and I spend the day with her but I haven't had a real birthday party in about 20 years or so and I'm only 32. :(

I'm 56 and I haven't had a real b'day party in so long, I can't remember the last time I did.
OH Nuts! 06-12-2014, 07:50 AM But why would I treat a women to dinner on MY BIRTHDAY?
Because on a special day like this, it makes you look extra thoughtful of others. Not a bad thing to do with a girl you REALLY want to date.

Carmine's is on 44th Street west of Broadway near my old office. It's OK, but you can do much better in Manhattan. It's a tourist place.

JamesG 06-23-2014, 11:30 PM I'm glad you had a good time down in AC. I need to go back there again. The last time I was there was summer of 2011. I stayed overnight at Showboat.
I ate at the Hard Rock Cafe and Rainforest Cafe. Did you get to do Ripley's Believe It or Not?
When I was walking the boardwalk I saw that they have the strip club Lace down there now, but I haven't been to that one. They also have this cool little place that's sort of like a Haunted Attraction where you see some show and get to lay in a coffin.

It was some girl behind us on the boardwalk saying she felt Hard Rock was overrated lol
I never been there to judge
TVFactFan 06-24-2014, 06:35 PM That's a really expensive restaurant. My mother and her husband have gone there. What did you order to eat?
I saw the prices and you are right. Lol. I had shrimp and pasta
JamesG 06-26-2014, 11:59 PM I just saw an article saying that SHOWBOAT is closing.

Many people are going to more closer/cheaper places like the Indian Resorts (Mount Airy, Mohegan Sun) and the casino in Queens, NY.
mets82 06-27-2014, 02:30 PM I'm only 32 but I dont like Ferris wheels or roller coasters. I know a lot of people my age like those things and they did when they were in high school and college but I never did.

we don't go on Ferris wheels because my wife doesn't like heights (yet she loves coasters somehow), and we don't go on roller coasters because the safety bar always presses right against my ribs and causes extreme pain due to an old injury - last ride I was on was the kid's Top Cat car ride at King's Island
Kate From CT 07-11-2014, 02:07 PM I love AC. I hope to go back again.
Mace Dolex 07-11-2014, 02:46 PM I just turned 38 in May and I don't do anything special for it, to me it's just a normal day, yeah I'll get a relative texting me and my parents wishing me a happy B-day but other than that it's all nothing to me, I don't have any friends either so I never go out for drinks and stuff.

All I got was a $75 gift card from my mom LOL
