So what did everyone think of tonight's episode?

I thought it was great!

I really enjoyed learning more about the characters, especially since some of them have been neglected, like Galant (sp?) and Susan since her return. Also I was pleased to finally learn the story about Abby and med school, because I was confused over that because I kept hearing she was in med school or had applied or something like that but I guess I missed other episodes that mentioned it so I was lost about that. Also I finally found out where Luka is from, lol. Don't mind me, I'm clueless...

I really enjoyed seeing Abby and Susan get closer, and I hope they pursue that friendship, because those are my 2 favorite ER characters!

Oh yeah and the opening was HILARIOUS! I was laughing so hard when they were looking in that bag and playing with the toys, and then when Susan saw the dildo in Weaver's locker and had to try not to laugh!

And I am glad Susan and Carter broke up, I just cannot see them together. Too bad I probably won't be seeing her with Mark either *siiiiigh* :crying: Oh well...

All in all I give this episode two thumbs up!

What do *you* think?

I thought that episode was hillarious. Especially when Weaver opened her locker... oh my Gawd... me and Britt we laughing SO hard...

anyways, the fencing thing... corny. I thought it was. But I'm actually glad to see Susan and Carter brake up. This is where the Carby is supposed to come in.

But all in all, I thought the ep was pretty good.

Last night's show was the best in years. Getting away from the hospital for an hour and seeing blood flow from duelling and hearing some gutsy stories about the characters was amazing! I saw a competive side of Carter I've never seen before.

Definately one of the better episodes in awhile. I enjoyed this episode, especially the fun that Abby and Susan were having. They make good friends. Susan had me laughing practically the whole time.

It was good to find out more about the med student too. I really like him. I hope he becomes a well developed character on the show. I think the producers would be smart to continue to focus on these 5 characters.

Yeah, when Abby was first on the show she played a med student who had previously been a nurse. When her ex didn't pay a tuition bill she was forced to take a semester off and she never went back. (I think because the writers needed a nurse to take Carol's place). There was also an episode where Luka flashes back to his past and what happened to his family. It's a good episode but very sad.

What happened to Luka's family?

Also I have a few more questions about Abby if you don't mind. I'm just wondering if they ever talk about why she got a divorce and why she developed a drinking problem. Also, like when she did she have a drinking problem? I don't see how you could have a drinking problem in med school and be second in your class.... I had always thought they just referenced her drinking problem as something that had happened in the past...was it something that developed while she was on the show.... I hope TNT starts showing more recent reruns sometimes so I can see some of these more recent episodes I missed....

 It really annoys me that so many people hate Susan simply because the writers made a bad decision to hook her up with Carter. I didn't like them together either, but Susan is a great character in my mind, and I wish others would have an open mind about her too, instead of not being able to see past the hate of her being with Carter. Besides, they broke up... (and she's only a few years older than him anyway...she's only in her mid 30s for God's sake, it's not like she's 45 or 50!)

I mean if you don't like then you don't like her, but in my mind a better reason to hate her would be over some personality flaw, or because she annoys you, or something, not simply because she was with Carter for a short time.

Let's see…. Luka told the story of his tragic past to a bishop he befriended and it was all shown in flashbacks. Luka's wife, son and daughter died in the war in Croatia. A bomb struck their home one day while Luka was out. When he returned, he found his family badly injured and tried to save them but his efforts were not enough. He still feels enormously guilty over their deaths. I found it very heart breaking to watch. It really gives you a better understanding of Luka.

Abby's drinking problem occurred sometime before she appeared on the show. We don't know much else about how it developed. We found out about it when Carter, fresh out of rehab, attended an AA meeting and was shocked to see Abby there too. He needed a sponsor and Abby became his sponsor. I know they also covered why she got divorced but I don't remember the details. Maybe someone else remembers more about her divorce.

But think about it.....she was a doctor when Carter was a med student. She dated Greene then. That's would be like if Greene started going out with Lucy (RIP)

Its hard to beleive in this day that agism still exists against women over 30. If Carter was 35 or 40 and dating a woman 25 no one would be expressing the disgust and revulsion they show toward Susan's character.

She was a 4th year Emergency Resident when she left the show (season 3). So that means in the first season she was a 2nd year Resident while Carter was a first year intern. I'm fairly certain she started her Residency as soon as she got out of med school. They are only separated by like 3-5 years, if that.

It would not be the same as Greene dating Lucy because not only is Greene older than Susan in the first place, by the time Lucy came on the show you have to add another 7 years to how old he was in the beginning. Greene and Lucy were probably separated by over 10 years....

Oh and Susan and Mark never dated....

And I agree with cablejockey about the ridiculous agism...

Thanks alot for all your help Lynn. Now that you describe it I do think I've seen the episode about Luka's family, but I don't remember it well. I was probably doing homework or something like that when it was on and only half paying attention.

I was looking at the TNT schedule and was pleased to see that they are going to be starting season 6 in April. The first episode Abby was in is going to air April 30th, so hopefully I can just catch all the reruns and get caught up on the holes I'm missing about her. Only thing that sucks is I'm supposed to be out of the country starting on like April 28th and through all of May! Grrr.....I know I shouldn't be complaining that I get to take a vacation, and I'm not....it's just such a bummer that all the shows I wanted to see are going to air when I'm not here! Why couldn't it be off like one month! I'm going to have to try to have my dad tape every episode for me if he can....it's gonna take like 10 tapes!

I thought this was a very good episode. I'm glad the writer's gave Susan and Abby a chance as friends. They were great and funny together. I hope to see more of that between them. I'm also glad Carter and Susan broke up, because I love Carter and Abby together. Look forward to more episodes concerning these five characters in the future...

There's no need to point out to me why Carter was jealous. Just exactly how daft do you think I am anyway? Even if you never watched the show before there was enough information in this episode to figure out why he was jealous.

Anyway, I really don't think they did. Mark loved Susan but she didn't love him. (Or at least not enough to stay in Chicago for him). When she left the show he went running to catch her before she got on the L-train to tell her he loved her.

There's no doubt there was long-standing sexual tension between the two, and at one point Carter spread rumors about them having an "affair," but I didn't think they ever actually dated....

I am pretty sure they didn't ever date in season 2, because he got divorced late in season 2. The beginning of season 3 Susan left for a vacation in Hawaii, and she left the show just a few episodes after returning. I believe they did mention Mark's feelings for Susan in her return episode, but I don't remember them specifically referencing them dating.

Perhaps someone else here can confirm or deny once and for all whether or not they actually dated.

But it's nice of you to single out the one line I may have been incorrect on instead of addressing the age issues I raised, the fact that she's only a few years older than Carter and that it's not the same as Mark being with Lucy.

Just to inject my 2¢ here on the matter...

I LOVE debates like this that can be settled so simply. :D If you want to know whether they dated or not the answer is no.

http://www.epguides.com/ER_1994/

NO WHERE in the epguides does it say they dated, and that is an extensive list of all the episodes of the show.

Have a nice day!

Cool, I'm jealous. Sounds like lots of fun. I have been to London and Scotland but not the rest of Europe. I would love to go back again and visit more of the countries. It was such a great experience.

this was by far the best ER episode ever. I know someone mentioned it already but as soon as I saw them in that class room I said to myself the breakfast club..... only because it is one of my favorite movies.

Thank God susan and carter finally broke up.... they were dating for 4 months, they never went out and did everything. Go figure, now I am hoping carter and abby get together :)

p.s. what movie orhow is that picture of maura from I love it .

OMG! I lerbed it. I'm SOOOO glad Carter and Susan broke up. TIME FOR SOME CARBY ACTION, BABIE! Sweet, mama, sweet.

The fencing scene was... stupid. But Carter is such a damn adorable hottie so any scene w/him in it is worth watching.

I thought it was hysterical how they opened up the ladies bag and took stuff out and messed around. The dildo in Weaver's locker... CLASSIC!!!!!!

I think we had some blind Carby action in this one. Any of my fellow Carby's sense it????

CAN'T WAIT TILL NEXT WEEK!!!!!!!!!!

No, actually they didn't. Back in the first seasons, Mark had feelings for Susan but she didn't really reciprocate them. That was a LOOOOOOONG time ago, though. In the episode "Union Station" [season 3] when Susan got on the train to leave for Phoenix, Mark caught up w/her just as the train was about to leave Union Station and he admitted his true feelings for her. She said that she knew how he felt, but that he was just her best friend... and then she said sorry. Then they impulsively and romantically kissed and Susan told him that she'd never forget him. Then she hopped on the train and as it was moving away, she popped her head outta it and yelled "I DO LOVE YOU!" Mark was like "What?" and she repeated, "I LOVE YOU!" and then said "Bye!" and then Mark raised his hand slowly and waved her goodbye.
