I remember Bob Denver talking about a spin-off of Gilligan's Island where he married Mary Ann and the Professor marries Ginger and their kids get ship wrecked. Don't know if that would have ever been a good series, but it would have been fun to see them try.

i think it would have worked - there were plenty of shows in the 80's with much worse premises

I think the producer(s) of Gilligan's Island really missed the boat by not having any romances on the original show. It would have made it much more realistic and I think more fun. They didn't need to have a big focus on the romance, but again, it would have added more realism. I always thought it was odd that all these people were on an island for such a long time and no romances ever developed!

It would have worked if there had been romances.

Being in a relationship would have helped Gilligan to mature a little bit.

Instead, we got the three TV movies where he hadn't grown up at all. I would have loved to see Bob Denver being given the chance to play a more adult Gilligan.

I think it would have killed the show like it killed every other show. See Get Smart and I Dream of Jeannie.

A remake/Gilligan spinoff would have been the worst idea in TV history except that TV is so full of the worst ideas in TV history it would be just another train wreck.
