I Love Lucy has had a long successful run in syndication, and has also been prominent in home media, with releases on VHS, DVD, and even a LaserDisc release. Now, of course, the newest home media format is Blu-ray, and CBS is releasing, for the very first time, the first season of the series on Blu-ray, in I Love Lucy - Ultimate Season 1. The six disc set contains all 35 episodes of the first season of the series, along with a ton of special features. Unlike those previous releases, though, Ultimate Season 1 gives viewers the opportunity to watch the series in perhaps the best quality it has ever been presented, along with all of the original opening credits, closing credits, commercials, and the special features included on the previous DVD releases... and some new ones.

"This is one of, if not the, best home media releases of a TV series ever."

Agree or disagree with our reviewer?

I was really thinking about not buying this until I read this glowing review. I just placed my order with Amazon! I can't wait to see the original episodes with commercials and all!

Fantastic review! I received my copy today and what I have seen has been fantastic, and I agree that this may be the best release of a TV show ever.

Completely disagree with the review minus the main menu graphics. The episodes have a LOT of grain in them. I don't know what blu ray you were watching but it wasnt the IIL one....Yes the specs and debris are gone but the grain on the episodes is off the charts. I'd rate the video 2/5 and not the 5/5 you gave it.

You are going to be disappointed. I wish you had waited for the price to go down a bit more. I got mine on sale but still feel it was NOT worth the 59 dollar price.

I hope I am wrong about you being disappointed. I will say no matter how grainy the picture is the episodes are still so darn funny.

I'm supposed to receive this today! I can't wait to test it out. I'm especially looking forward to watching the "full" episodes with the original commercials---I never thought in a million years I'd be wanting to actually watch commercials!

I received my copy today! So far I have watched the first 3 episodes and all I'm going to say is...I'm not disappointed but at the same time I'm not blown away with the quality.

I already have all six seasons so I can't justify buying another set which costs even more.

OH Nuts!

I'm with you; my $130 DVD set of all the seasons, plus the hour shows, is plenty fine for me. But some that the bells and whistles of Blue Ray, so to each their own!
