Well...ok i don't usually get teased at school and this is not exactly being teased but today at school for a late birthday present my friend matt (who just HAPPENS to be a boy) gave me a gift certificate for my birthday, and some of my other friends are giving me a really hard time about it. they keep insisting that he likes me, which he doesn't because he's my FRIEND, and it's really bugging me, even though I don't think that they all know that even if i keep telling them to stop. it's really annoying and i hate it ughhh anyways...no, i don't usually get teased..yeah i agree with you lisa...it seems that way usually--if you don't tease other people they'll leave you alone. and i hate to tease. but, even more i hate to be teaseD.

(If you guys are all totally confused by now, I don't blame you...just thought I'd let you know.)

When I was younger I used to picked on all the time. I hated it. Around 6 I was picked on but it didn't effect me emotionally and around the age of 9 I was just carefree and really didn't get made fun of and if I did I would just brush it off. When I was almost 12 then that is where the problems started. I got made fun of for 3 straight years and it hurt me really bad.. It took me a long time to overcome butGod helped me through.

One thing I learned from the situation is to be sensitive towards the needs of others and understanding. I like to joke around but if it is affecting someone else, I stop. Seeing someone else in pain is not a cool thing. It has also taught me to care a great deal for others. I like fun, but think it's not too funny when one is having fun at someone else's expense.

I get teased for being like the only white girl in 7th grade. It really busts my bubbles because to me race or sex doesn't matter. People think they can shove me around because I'm the only white kid. They crack on me and call me Casper. What adds to it is I'm extra pale, [I guess it's the Irish in me] and so I'm like powder white. I hate being teased because race shouldn't matter to anyone at all.

I don't pick on anybody but I'm picked on. All because I'm a little bit overweight and everybody else is fairly thin.

When I was younger I was constantly teased because of my speech impediment,
of my lisp problem(which is now fixed)
and of my weight. Sometimes people picked
on for no apparent reason, but over the
years I got use to it. These days if someone picks on me, it doesn't faze me,
I'm use to it.

That is SOOOOO not true, and I don't even see how anyone could think that!

People who never make fun of anyone get picked on all the time!

As for me, I was picked on from like 1st grade thru maybe 6th or 7th. Around 6th or 7th grade was when I just stopped paying attention, so maybe I still was but I didn't care.

I don't remember being picked on much in high school, though I was not a "popular" kid.

And well, no one really gets picked on in college that I've ever seen, so it's not a problem anymore.

Amen to that! :)

I was picked on ALL the time in school. I was always the new kid (my dad was in the military so we moved alot)

I was teased for my accents, I was even teased for not knowing english properly (I was practically raised in Japan. I learned how to speak over there so I knew Japaneese better then English. I was in speech for years to learn to speak properly)

I never let any of it bother me though. I guess because I was a military brat, I had tougher skin then most people my age did.

I made my own friends and just ignored all the other people.

Wow. Can you still speak/read/write Japanese? I would love to be able to speak Japanese. My roommate is half Japanese and whenever we have a school break, he works various translating jobs and gets paid very well for it. And he got to travel to Miami, Denver, and some other places I forget, all on their bill!

It sounds like what they did to you was out of plain ingnorance. I hate that. I assume the other students were black? Although I'm the same color, I was always teased because I spoke proper for a 12 year old and look back and think it was stupid for the others to do. It's dumb to people on the spot like that. Actually the ringleader who would start it actually came to me a year and a half ago and apologized to me for he had done to me. Everytime he saw me later in years he would feel kind of funny talking to me because he wasn't sure whether I was still mad about what happened but told him that I forgave him. It took me a long time to overcome but I'm better now and much happier and him coming to me sharing really help close the chapter on my life. Wow! This is some deep stuff.

I got picked on a lot at school. I wasn't exactly popular and I was pretty quiet. I guess cos I never really stood-up for myself the bullies just saw me as an easy target. When I was 13 I had really bad acne so I got the usual "pizza face" jibes - I got hit over the head with a chair one time cos I had spots! Makes a lot of sense, huh?!!

Ya know what, I take that back! I can't believe I said that!

For the most part it is true, but actually two of my current roommates were teased in college. And teasing in college can be brutal.

We all lived on the same floor of the same dorm freshman year. My one roommate, I'm not sure why he was picked on, I guess maybe because he was a computer nerd and his two roommates were dumb jerks. One night they threw a bucket of water on him while he was sleeping. Because his bed was all wet he slept in the cupboard the rest of the night. Other times he had his computer messed with. That's all I remember them doing to him, but there was probably more.

My other roommate is bisexual, and he was BRUTALLY teased ALL of freshman year. He wasn't even out of the closet back then, but still, I hate to give into stereotypes, but it was fairly obvious he was gay/bisexual. The boys on our floor were absolutely awful to him. The would psychologically abuse him every single day by saying mean things to him and shouting things at him really loud so the whole floor would hear. One time, he was in the bathroom showering and they stuck a mop handle in the door so he couldn't leave the bathroom. Being the resourceful guy he is, he just kicked out the crate in the door and crawled out! I say good for him, but he got teased for that even, because he broke the door, which bothered all the other guys because they might get in trouble. Another time they sprayed the fire extinguisher into the bathroom while he was in there so he had to wade through all the gunk to get out. Another time they ripped the soap dispenser off the wall and put the white gooey soap all over the walls of the floor, and said it was his cum. Geez I can't even remember what all else they did to him, but it was bad. We ended up having to have like floor meetings about it, and it was basically all the girls and my poor friend vs. all the other boys. He basically flunked out his freshman year and I don't doubt the torture he was subjected to was a part of it.

Isn't that sad and pathetic for a bunch of college aged kids to act that way? I guess I forgot all about it since it's been so long since I lived in the dorms.

I can still understand most of it, but I can no longer read or speak Japenese. When we came back to the states, my parents put me in a special speech program to relearn English and forbade my siblings from speaking Japanese around me so that I could learn English. My brother still speaks it and when he does I can understand it, but that's it.

Yes. Your correct. All the other kids are African Americans and Puerto Ricans. I can't understand anything anyone says because it's all in Spanish. They make fun of me and swear at me in Spanish. Luckily, I can swear back in another language, but I mean face it. Swearing doesn't get you anywhere.

Anyways that was OT- I also get picked on for being, well, I'm not trying to brag at all, but the smartest girl [gradewise] in 7th grade. It's not me assuming this, because my teachers say right in front of the class "Karli is the only one not failing". And honest of Gosh I hate it. I'll be walking down the hallway and everyone will be like "Here comes the know it all!" And it really gets on my nerves. There are so many smart kids in the 7th grade, but none of them care. They don't do their homework, study, or anything. It's too bad because many could excell. But my point is I hate being labled "the Smartest One". I may be smart gradewise, but in other areas I'm not smart at all.

And the lil bit** was like sreamin at the lunch table that I wanna be exactly like Jinny Exstead...which is such a lie!!! I admit...I wanna be an inspector...but I have b4 I even KNEW about TD...and I wanna live in an apartment...b/c...they r easier!! Geezus...all I said was I don't want kids!!! She hasn't even seen the d@mn show!!! There have been other things also. I think it is b/c I m different then I was in 5th grade. I have a lot more 'tude and I m a lot more wild eva since I went into middle skool. She hasn't changed at all...and I guess she thinks I m too different and she teases me. I dunno...o...and then there is this gurl named Monica...my BFF's friend. She is awful...I won't even go into it...

1st-8th grade I was teased for being the smartest in my class as well. It was a little bit annoying, but it hurt alot less than other things I was made fun of for. At least being made fun of for being smart made me feel a little good about myself....

First I got teased about my British Accent, my glasses. Then they just wanted to be mean so they moved on to my hair, clothes, etc.

People, there isn't a single person I know that was teased who ever teased somebody theirself. Unless you are talking about friendly teasing which really doesn't count here.
People tease meanly because they want to make themselves look good, and to stay in or become part of the "in crowd".

Oh, I've been teased. If it's friendly enough, I can shake it off and not get too bothered by it. I mean, I'm used to being teased by my siblings and family, but that's never really mean-spirited. I get teased about getting good grades and trying to speak properly. I've gotten used to most of it, but sometimes kids go too far. This one boy was bugging me constantly about my grades and practically harrassing me about them. My older brother talked to him. That kid doesn't bother me anymore.

When I was still in school I always got teased about my curly hair too. Now everyone tells me how lucky I am to have it. I was very tomboyish as well. I guess that comes from growing up with 3 older brothers. I often wore their hand me downs and was mistaken for a boy much of the time and was teased endlessly about it all through school. I must admit I was guilty of teasing other kids to myself look better but I outgrew that in a hurry and even became good friends with one of the girls that i used to pick on. College was a lot of fun though but I wouldn't go back to Jr. high or High school for anything. These days whenever I see kids on their way to school or getting on the school bus I literally feel sorry for them because I wonder if they're having as rough a time as I had.

In grammar school, I was teased. The guys would tease me because I was good at sports, or whatever. But they were the biggest hypocrites, because the next day, we would all be laughing about something in class.
But by 5th grade, I guess we all sort of "matured".

Even though I wasn't teased in middle school, I felt really oppressed. Like I couldn't do anything drastic to make myself stand out.

Now in high school, most people ignore one another instead of insulting each other. If there's anything, there's "**** talking" behind people's back. Oh, there's a lot of that. And most of it, is among "equals"( if you know what I mean).

I think I have people laughing before they can think about insulting me.

I've been picked on for a while, but for various reasons:

Elementary School - being skinny and short, talking to imaginary people (power rangers, Star Trek, etc.)
Middle School - liking Star Trek, acne problems (went away, thankfully), designing an imaginary world (a collection of designs, drawings, and stuff I do for fun), having morals and not joining the in-crowd
High School - (Currently a Junior) - Liking Star Trek, liking classic comedies, still liking cartoons, favoring Nintendo, hating profanity (same effect - I use words like Jenkies and Groovy, and get teased for that) , not giving in to peer pressure, following the rules

It's gotten better since I've started giving weather reports over my school's PA again (I did it for 3 years at Middle School) and after appearing on local TV (for doing the weather, I got a 2-minute segment!), but I still get picked on some. But, does it matter, nope. I will not become someone else just to be popular! :)

In elementary I got teased all the time for getting good grades. I was labled the "smart girl" (Nobody called me by my actual name, it was horrible). If I got a question wrong, everyone would gasp and say "Oh my God! She was WRONG!" I mean, really, I don't want to be conceited but I got a hell of a lot more questions right than most did, and they just made a huge deal about it when I got one wrong. In fifth grade, last quarter, I broke my straight A streak by getting a B+ in math. I was teased unceasingly for it. I wanted to hit some of these people. Maybe that's one reason I feel I've failed whenever I get a B on something. I don't know.

Anyway, in junior high and now in high school, I'm never teased to my face. But trust me, I know people make fun of me behind my back. They still talk about something I did in sixth grade! God, why can't they just let it go? That was three years ago. I yelled at a teacher, and, I'll admit, it was an extremely stupid thing to do. I know that, I'm not stupid. But really, I think I've MORE than made up for those stupid three words I screamed at a teacher by practically being mute for the last three years of my life.... If you guys could just observe me for one school day... I don't talk. I never raise my hand, I never willingly talk to people. When I do have to talk, it's in a voice barely above a whisper and no one can even hear me. In elementary school people made fun of me for practically everything that came out of my mouth, so I did the stupid thing and just shut up. And they STILL won't let go of something that happened so long ago. Sometimes people can be so ignorant.

It's not that bad sometimes though because I've known most of my classmates since kindergarten. Even though they'll tease me, I think I'm kind of respected. Most kids don't swear around me or anything like that...except for the ones that have known me a long time and know how to get on my nerves.

I have been verbally abused by people all my life, and give derogatory “nicknames” by people. One I hated was being called “Barney Rubble” by various people since I am a large, blonde haired man. Complete insult. The last guy who started to call me this I got in his face and told him quietly but forcefully not to call me this or else. Because of this, I can’t watchThe Flintstones or even see still pictures of it.

Some people called me a name in high school. I suffered in silence. I should have been forceful, got in their faces, got into fights. This is what they seem to understand only. So I have to risk getting hurt, risk being suspended from school or even going to jail to get my respect.

Lastly on the 1990’s, I was in my mid 20’s living at home with my parents, working a job I disliked (and co-workers calling me the Barney Rubble *****, including one guy who said it in front of co-workers I should have smashed in the face, with me losing my job and going to jail) on drugs and just hating life. To make things worse, there was a horrible boy in his early teens and he would call me names under his breath when he and I were in the front yard. Mostly “Pillsbury Diughboy” or “Michelin Man”. I literally wanted to murder this person (and a few others in my past) and have fantasies of doing it slowly with the aid of a blowtorch. Really this kid didn’t know who he was messing with, a large adult, living at home, on (street) drugs, working a job I hate, no girlfriend and hating life. After one more petty insult from the little motherfkkr, I saw his fat mother in the garage and confronted her angrily and told her if his son ever called me anything again, he’s dead (an empty threat). I thought years later I should have called his high school and claimed he had a gun and threatened to shoot it up and he must be stopped now! But that might have been traced back to me. I am not violent but have violent fantasies about those who have caused me harm. I think it is interesting there has never been a serial killer who targeted people from their past for revenge. It’s hard to get away with that now anyway because of all the cameras we have now.

If I had children, I would teach them that life is cruel, mean, angry and crazy and the key to survival is to fight, hold your ground and don’t let anyone take your respect or your ass. I however do not have children and mostly I have accepted and mostly happy with this outcome. Why would I want to subject someone into this awful World, with all of its worries and pain, just to grow old, get sick and die. Fear of death. Life is so short but we humans spend all of our time screwing each other over, backstabbing each other, playing petty games on each other, controlling people, chasing money until the day we die to the point of lying, screwing and in some instances sickening and killing people to get it. The World can and does drive people to the edge of sanity and people who shoot up a school, their place of business or anywhere else, I get it, I understand. This is why so many people numb themselves with alcohol and drugs, to numb themselves from reality. Being sober is facing reality and no, the answer isn’t forgiveness, it’s fighting back and keeping what’s yours. That would be what I would teach my children.
