New York – Kevin Reilly, Chairman, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX), today unveiled the FOX portfolio of content for the 2014-2015 television season to the national advertising community during its annual Programming Presentation at the Beacon Theatre.

“Our portfolio of content this year reflects the biggest investment in programming we’ve ever made,” said Reilly. “FOX is redefining the network experience on our air and as a 24/7/365 platform, with distinctive series, addictive event dramas and can’t-miss live specials that will deliver broadcast’s most youthful audience at scale.”

Origin story GOTHAM and touching, coming-of-age series RED BAND SOCIETY are the two new dramas set to debut this fall. GOTHAM traces the rise of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and starring Academy Award-winning actress Octavia Spencer (“The Help,” “Fruitvale Station”), Dave Annable (“Brothers & Sisters,” “666 Park Avenue”) and a charismatic cast of fresh faces, RED BAND SOCIETY is a provocative, inspiring and, at times, comedic young ensemble drama told through the eyes of a group of teenagers who meet as patients in the pediatric ward of Ocean Park Hospital in Los Angeles.

The new comedy premiering this fall is MULANEY. MULANEY stars Emmy Award-winning writer and comedian John Mulaney (“Saturday Night Live”) as a rising stand-up comic trying to take his career to the next level, and the friends and mentors who lift him up, hold him back and push him around. The multi-camera sitcom boasts a cast of comedy all-stars, including Martin Short (“SCTV,” “Saturday Night Live”), Academy Award nominee Elliott Gould (“M*A*S*H,” the “Ocean’s 11” franchise), Nasim Pedrad (“Saturday Night Live”), Seaton Smith (“Totally Biased with W. One new unscripted series debuts in the fall: the groundbreaking social experiment UTOPIA, which asks, “Does a perfect world exist?” From unscripted mastermind John de Mol (“Deal Or No Deal,” “Fear Factor,” “The Voice,” “Big Brother”), and based on the Dutch hit of the same name, UTOPIA is a bold new series that moves 15 everyday Americans to an isolated, undeveloped location – for an entire year – and challenges them to create their own civilization. Will it be ultimate happiness or utter chaos?

The world of ancient Egypt – a time of magic, Pharaohs, gods and thieves – lives again in HIEROGLYPH, an adventure series from creator/executive producer Travis Beacham (“Pacific Rim,” “Clash of the Titans”). The epic fantasy follows a notorious thief who is plucked from prison to serve the Pharaoh, forcing him to navigate palace intrigue, seductive concubines, criminal underbellies and divine sorcerers, as he races to stop the downfall of one of history’s greatest civilizations.

Created and executive-produced by Hart Hanson (BONES), offbeat comedic crime procedural BACKSTROM centers on Detective EVERETT BACKSTROM (three-time Emmy Award nominee Rainn Wilson, “The Office,” “Six Feet Under”), an unhealthy, offensive, irascible – albeit brilliant – detective who is brought back from exile to run the Portland Police Bureau’s Special Crimes Unit (S.C.U.).

Based on a best-selling novel and brought to life by suspenseful storyteller M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense”), WAYWARD PINES is an intense, mind-bending 10-episode thriller starring Academy Award nominee Matt Dillon (“Crash”) as a Secret Service agent on a mission to find two missing federal agents in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID. Every step closer to the truth makes him question if he will ever get out of Wayward Pines alive. The series stars Becki Newton (“Ugly Betty”), Zachary Knighton (“Happy Endings”), Nate Torrence (“Hello Ladies”) and newcomer Meera Khumbhani.

Created by and starring Will Forte (“Nebraska,” “Saturday Night Live”) and directed by Chris Miller and Phil Lord (“The Lego Movie,” “21 Jump Street”), THE LAST MAN ON EARTH is a new single-camera comedy about the life and adventures of the last man on earth. PHIL MILLER (Forte) was once just an average guy who loved his family and hated his job at the bank – now he’s humanity’s last hope. Will he ever find another person alive on the planet? Would hoping that she is a female be asking too much?

A new animated comedy from FAMILY GUY’s Mark Hentemann and Seth MacFarlane, BORDERTOWN is a satirical look at the cultural shifts taking place in America. Exploring family, politics and everything in between with a cross-cultural wink, the series centers on two very different families living in a fictional Southwest desert town on the U.S. - Mexico border.

What if a hospital was your high school, boarding school and summer camp rolled into one? What if it was the place where you fell in love for the first time and made friendships that lasted a lifetime? And what if it was all weirdly hilarious and the most fun you ever had in your entire life? This is the world of RED BAND SOCIETY. From Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, starring Academy Award-winning actress Octavia Spencer (“The Help,” “Fruitvale Station”) and based on the award-winning Spanish series, “Polseres Vermelles,” RED BAND SOCIETY is a provocative, unconventional and, at times, comic high school drama told through the eyes of a group of teenagers who meet as patients in the pediatric ward of Ocean Park Hospital in Los Angeles. The series is part comedy, part drama, with a tone that’s unique unto itself. Twelve-year-old narrator CHARLIE (Griffin Gluck, “Back in the Game,” “Private Practice”) is in a coma in the hospital. Charlie’s friends and fellow patients include JORDI PALACIOS (Nolan Sotillo, “Prom”), a 16-year-old who illegally crosses the Mexican border into California to seek out treatment at the renowned hospital. What he soon discovers is that it’s not his illness that’s going to change his life, but his new friends. Also at the hospital is LEO ROTH (Charlie Rowe, “Neverland,” “Pirate Radio”). At 16, Leo is charismatic and independent. But after living at the hospital for a year, he’s starting to lose his way. When he’s forced to room with Jordi, he’s angry and resentful, until he realizes they are more alike than he could imagine. The pediatric ward is run by NURSE JACKSON (Spencer), a caregiver with a take-no-prisoners approach to getting these kids through the most difficult part of their lives. Overseeing much of the treatment in the ward is DR. JACK McANDREW (Dave Annable, “Brothers & Sisters,” “666 Park Avenue”), the country’s top pediatric surgeon. Also attending to the patients is the naïve and gullible Nurse BRITTANY DOBLER (newcomer Rebecca Rittenhouse), who allows the kids to get away with things they probably shouldn’t. Suffering from cystic fibrosis, 16-year-old Dash is determined to live every day as if it’s his last. Although many young patients who are seriously ill make complete recoveries, that day seems a long way off for these teens. And as they confront questions of life and death which no one at that age should have to face, a kinship based on these shared experiences is created – a bond represented by the red hospital bands issued to them upon admittance. When a young boy is found dead on an idyllic beach, a major police investigation gets underway in the small California seaside town where the tragedy occurred. Soon deemed a homicide, the case sparks a media frenzy, which throws the boy’s family into further turmoil and upends the lives of all of the town’s residents. Welcome to GRACEPOINT, a new 10-episode mystery event series based on “Broadchurch,” the U.K.’s critically acclaimed hit crime drama. GRACEPOINT is an expansion of the original series, introducing new characters, identifying new suspects and threading new storylines through the gripping narrative. Leading the investigation is Detective EMMETT CARVER (David Tennant, “Broadchurch,” “Dr. Who”), who has just arrived in Gracepoint to fill a high position in the town’s police force. That job previously had been promised to Detective ELLIE MILLER (Emmy Award winner Anna Gunn, “Breaking Bad”), who, in light of the tragedy, must put any resentment aside and work the case with her prickly new boss. Wayward Pines is the only thing that peaks my interest.

Hieroglyph sounds good, it should have made the fall schedule. Gotham doesn't sound like my type of show but I might give it a try because of the boy from Touch. the 7:30 killed Futurama when it was joined in progress, but I think they will only be airing Bob's Burgers on the non NFL doubleheader weeks, the OT will be on between the end of football and the Simpsons like it has been the past few years, recemt non-animted half hour shows on Fox Sundays haven't lasted long, probably just filler until Bordertown is ready, the 7:30 slot when they don't have football just seems like a time to air things Fox has already sold to Adult Swim/TBS

Based on the look of this schedule, if The Simpsons's original run did end in the next two years, then there may not even be a good replacement animated series ready to take its place. I mean, Bordertown is yet another animated family comedy that could potentially have the cliche of a "floating timeline" if it ends up being a long-runner. I just think The Simpsons can practically be gone from new episodes permanently at anytime.

they haven't had any hit live action comedies on Sunday in the last decade, I'll expect they'll be cancelled or moved to the pre-Simpsons slots when Bordertown is ready, anyone remember "The Winner" "The War at Home" or "Sons of Tucson"

I might be interested in Mulaney, it has Martin Short, game shows, and Seinfeld writers. If I watch it will probably be on demand, don't want any part of Family Guy and will be on against Resurrection anyway.

I think Glee should stick for all 12 episodes rather than 13 on its upcoming season and The Mindy Project should start with 14 episodes rather than 15 on its upcoming season and then add 5 more to make it 20 and then finally 22 or 24.

I think the final season of FOX's Glee can practically take any spot on the schedule come midseason, whether it's on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or even Friday. Also, if it was me, I should have had the final season of Glee consist of 16 episodes, but considering the amount of people hating the show, 13 (or 12) sounds fine.

12 episode order is the best request for now.

The new reality series Utopia is already being seen as a massive failure. It underperformed on its two-hour premiere on 7 September: a 2.0 rating in the 18-to-49 demographic and 4.63 million total viewers. In week two, the series's demo rating sank to a 1.0. Stiffer competition from other networks means this series's demo rating may get even worse.

I didn't know that it was actually intended to air for 52 straight weeks.

I heard that the FOX execs are patient with Utopia and likely want to keep the show going until the network's baseball coverage starts in October before making a decision on it, though it is possible that Utopia may end up being the first cancellation of the 2014-15 season.

i only know Utopia from the clips they showed on The Soup, but it seems like probably one of the stupidest ideas ever - you can't form a Utopia with the least desirable, dumbest and most useless people on the planet; you form one by getting RID of those people.

It reminds me of one part of the plot of Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, a planet decides that the only way to save their civilization is to send their entire population off to find a new planet. They divide the population into three groups that will travel on three different ships. Into the first ship, the `A’ ship, would go all the brilliant leaders, the scientists, the great artists, you know, all the achievers; and into the third, or `C’ ship, would go all the people who did the actual work, who made things and did things, and then into the `B’ ship would contain all the public relations executives, marketing consultants, advertising people and other fields considered to be useless ‘middlemen'.

However, the actual plan was just to load up all the useless people in the "B" ship and send them off into space never to be seen again.

(and just for reference, that same "B" ship eventually crash-landed on a small blue world, the 3rd one orbiting around a yellow star deep in one of the outer arms of the Milky Way, eventually known as 'Earth')

Utopia seems like the kind of show that would've been huge 12 or 13 years ago when Survivor was at its peak and those types of "exotic" reality shows were the biggest thing on network TV. The concept is pretty dated at this point, and I have no idea why FOX dedicated so much of their fall schedule to it.

FOX is a bit of a mess right now, the fall of their mighty singing competition has completely screwed them up. Dumping X Factor was the right move (albeit one done a year too late) but they should've replaced it with more inspiring scripted stuff, not another cheap reality show. Their only real hope is that Gotham is a big hit (which it should be).

They are starting from scratch in a new way. We already know about the financial crash in FOX.

1.) We know that Glee lost Cory Monteith in the wrong time due to too many buildup conflicts which caused him to die.

2.) We know that American Idol Season 2 finale was a letdown of this show.

3.) We know that The Mindy Project was too in hurry to eliminate both actresses Anna Camp and Amanda Setton. Then too many broadened differences were building up to quick along the way and what made it worse is the big problems about hanging onto young white females in its main cast.

4.) We know that So you Think You Can Dance should require a petition for a 12th season before time runs out. The season 12 finale should also have ONE winner again.

Now everything's fixing up at the same time, so let's get it on!

^^Um, American Dad has already moved to TBS, remember? Starting October 20 (which is a Monday). I suspected that the reason for this network change was to make room for new shows, especially animated ones such as Bordertown. Mulaney ended up being put on AD's old timeslot. I suppose you'd rather see AD stay on FOX, but right now, that'd be impossible.

I can't believe how bad Mulaney was. It's nothing like Seinfeld, Martin Short could do a lot better, and the "game show" wasn't much of one.

I LOVE John Mulaney's stand-up but I didn't like his show at all. It could get better, but I doubt it'll be given the time.

This is a good time resurrect Enlisted, because not only it fits to pair up with B99, it is also a perfect fit for the FOX Sunday NFL schedule.

I don't care if Enlisted is going to become a fallen victim or not competing about Sunday Night Football in America, which is airing on NBC.

Fox Cancels Red Band Society

Fox has opted not to order more episodes of freshman Red Band Society beyond the original 13-episode order, which will wrap production in mid-December. The network has stopped short of cancelling the hospital teen drama starring Octavia Spencer, which will air two more episodes, tonight (Episode 9) and next Wednesday (Episode 10), Dec. 3, before getting off the schedule. It is unclear when the three remaining episodes will air.

I think Octavia Spencer might be too strongly talented in Red band Society. There could be a chance that this show might find a new not-knowned actress who can play Octavia's current role better.

FoxBC has announced that Wayward Pines will premiere globally on May 14, 2015.

It should be noted that the show's debut will take place two years after it was first picked up to series, and over one year after filming was completed (Filming of the Wayward Pines series took place between August 2013 and February 2014). Also, FX Productions is producing the series.

I still don't like that number of Glee's episode-order for its sixth-final season, it is considered too imbalanced. 12 should have been a better number than 13.

Bad reactions like these are the reason why you cannot launch a good new live-action comedy on the Fox Network these days without everyone bashing it and forcing everyone who dies like that new show to take it personally.

I actually liked The Last Man on Earth. It has generally favorable reviews on Metacritic, and I actually watched last night's episode (its third).

So much of this episode's strength stems from those opening scenes, that play on the notion of reality versus illusion.

New Girl has been renewed for a 5th season, 1st live-action comedy on FOX to hit 100 episodes since Malcolm in the Middle.

I think Empire needs to move Tuesday Nights because FOX needs something strong to keep alive on its Tuesday Night block.

Bad reactions like these are the reason why you cannot launch a good new live-action comedy on the Fox Network these days without everyone bashing it and forcing everyone who dies like that new show to take it personally.

I actually liked The Last Man on Earth. It has generally favorable reviews on Metacritic, and I actually watched last night's episode (its third). I love the show myself

But this show isn't dead yet because it is moving to a private online streaming type of network as confirmed.

My mom and I are enjoying "Wayward Pines" very much. It's kind of good knowing it's only 10 episodes so it's not a long commitment. The story is interesting and actors are doing great.

I'll watch 5th Grader for now but would much rather have more seasons of The American Bible Challenge.

Yeah, now we know that FOX has completely reduced its teen entertainment marketing, due to its low ratings cause.

FoxBC has apparently decided not to order a second season of Wayward Pines. A promo has indicated that next week's installment (its 10th) will be its last one — the series finale.

I was beginning to like it. Matt Damon gives a great performance. I will buy it on DVD.
