Upon finishing season two, I have come to realize that I like the shows more that don't have someone arriving on the island. I like the shows where they have to cope with or overcome something themselves like when Gilligan finds The Eye of The Idle and wishes for ice cream just before five gallon ice cream containers come floating along in the lagoon.
So here is a two part question for you: Do you prefer shows with guests arriving on the island or shows without?
The second part of the question is, who was your favorite guest and why?

I prefer shows without guests. I like it when it's just the seven of them. GI is one of the rare shows where I like every character (even if I like some more than others) and where none of the actors stands out as the weak link.
I'd have to say my favorite guest is Duke Williams. Sure, he was pretty much a frat boy and all, but I thought he was funny and actually would've tried to help get the castaways off the island (if he hadn't of gotten amnesia).
I also liked it best when it was mainly the original castaways. But some of the guests were okay. My favorite guest was Duke Williams (Denny Miller) then Boris Balinkoff (Vito Scotti).

I don't like any of the guest-stars, because none of them helped the castaways get off the island. Oh, wait.. then there wouldn't be a show!

As a rule I prefer episodes where it is just the seven on them, with no guests. However, the occasional guest popping up was a nice change of pace, especially if it was a particularly funny actor or actress. I also liked the occasional appearance of natives/headhunters.
One question I would ask you - do you consider the imposter Gilligan, the imposter Mr. Howell and the imposter Ginger to be quest stars? ;-)
I think the funniest guest stars were Phil Silvers, as Harold Hecuba and Nehemiah Persoff as El Presidente Rodriguez. I also am fond of the episode in which Richard Kiel pretends to be a ghost to frighten them off the island so his country (Russia??) can use it for their own secret base.
However my all time favorite guest is the lovely actress Midori, who played Kilani, the native girl Gilligan rescued from drowning and became his slave.

I prefer the episodes without, but I do enjoy the ones with. My favorite guest is Hans Conried as Wrongway Feldman.

Always prefer the episodes that don't have a guest. I really enjoy watching the castaways only! Watching the original characters was usually so much fun, they really didn't need to have guests on the show IMO.
