Laverne & Shirley aired its last episode ever. I am not a fan of what it became in season 8 and especially loathe the finale, but it was still a sad occasion. :(

View Full Version : On this very night in 1983... Roxy LaTour 05-10-2014, 08:42 PM Laverne & Shirley aired its last episode ever. I am not a fan of what it became in season 8 and especially loathe the finale, but it was still a sad occasion. :( Mr. Television 05-10-2014, 08:56 PM What's sad is that I don't even remember watching that episode then. I abandoned it earlier in the season. :( comedyfreak 05-11-2014, 03:33 AM I remember it and it went out with a whimper RIP Laverne & Shirley :( king of comedy 05-11-2014, 06:46 AM What was the last episode about? comedyfreak 05-12-2014, 06:46 AM Rhonda enters Cowboy Bill’s in a panic telling Frank that she suspects Carmine is about to commit suicide. She says he’s packed all his stuff, turned off the gas, and disconnected his phone. Just as the two of them are about to run to try to save Carmine, he walks in and tells them that he’s decided he’s getting nowhere fast and that he’s moving to New York to try his luck on Broadway. Carmine says his goodbyes to Frank and Rhonda and heads to Laverne’s. She’s excited that she can finally afford to buy the water bed she’s always wanted, but, when Carmine tells Laverne he’s $100 short on funds, she loans him the money from her bed fund. They say their goodbyes. Carmine arrives in New York and attends a casting call for the musical Hair. He immediately befriends a man with whom he goes halfsies on a room. Carmine and the rest of the dancers perform their musical number for the show. Carmine and his new friend check the part list to see if they got the jobs, and they both have. It was as if this were meant to be a backdoor pilot. Moondance 05-13-2014, 10:36 AM What's sad is that I don't even remember watching that episode then. I abandoned it earlier in the season. :( The show went downhill after Shirley left. MacLeaper 05-13-2014, 12:30 PM It was a hard situation because Cindy Williams left the show and then Laverne suddenly didn't have Shirley there to have adventures with- and with the show called "Laverne & Shirley"- it really couldn't work without both of its main characters. But they tried to make it work because the show producers still had a contract to fulfill for episodes. It's sad that the series had a dismal finale- maybe if Cindy Williams could've been convinced to make a guest star appearance at Laverne's wedding- that could've made for a nice ending to the series. Oh well- it is what it is- I'm just glad it's all finally on DVD so that I can watch the series in full!:) Roxy LaTour 05-13-2014, 03:45 PM They shoulda just given Cindy whatever she needed that last season and gone out with some class. She earned more than enough for them, they could afford to make some special allowances. In the end I suspect it came down to egos, which SUCKS. |
