I was told if you have your tv set up with a HDMI cable you CAN"T get closed caption on your tv. My cable company Comcast said you can get with coaxial cable and another type cable cord, but not with HDMI. You go up one step in picture quality and you lose something else. Sometimes the phone will ring and I will want to see/hear the tv show. Any thoughts.

That is unfortunately correct. If you have a DVR, though, they come with a CC option. Need to google your DVR's model to find out how to enable that option, though... it's usually not a simple "Options > Closed Captioning > On" approach to enabling your DVR's captioning. :(

It also means you won't be able to view DVDs or Blu Rays that come with a CC option. But if they have a subtitle (different from CC) option, then yes you will be able to view that no problem on a TV that is using HDMI cables.

It sucks pretty hardcore and I wish there was a more universal CC option on HDTVs, seeing as I am a deaf person who relies pretty heavily on CC/subtitles.
