There's an Encore cable station that airs episodes of Murphy Brown and Night Court back-to-back every weeknight, unedited and commercial-free (it's like having DVDs broadcast into your home!), and I was stunned last night when JAH was mentioned on Murphy Brown!
It was a 1992 episode entitled "Winners Take All", and the FYI news team (i.e. Murphy, et al) go to the Museum of Broadcast Arts to receive an award. When they're back in their green room before the ceremony starts and they'll go on stage, the emcee of the event (a guy with the museum) is talking with them, and he goes into a spiel of how much loves TV, and FYI.
And he says to FYI executive producer Miles that he still remembers the first time he saw FYI in 1977,
"You premiered right after the very short-lived and vastly-underrated Mulligan's Stew, which starred Lawrence Pressman as Michael, Elinor Donahue as his wife Jane, and Julie Anne Haddock as---" and here he pauses as he waits for Miles to finish the thought, but Miles just stares at him blankly, so the guy excitedly finishes: "Melinda!" :lol:
And what's great is these are not my emphases, he was actually so excited saying Julie Anne's and her character's names! :lol: I couldn't believe it! I had recorded it so I had to rewind and catch it again, lol.
