That's great, but on standard defination or old 4:3 sets without the ability to change aspect ratio, 90% of all of Cozi's shows are stretched to 16:9 and have letterbox on the left and right side of the screen instead of top and bottom or even on all sides called postage stamped. I know about TV, worked in it for over 32 years in production, I have emailed COZI/NY several times as I receive it since launch from Time Warner Cable NY/NJ.....They never respond.......

Make Room For daddy at least airs full screen, but still stretched......there is no reason to show old shows in the wrong aspect ratio, they were not shot in 16:9 or HD.

And I understand that the standard old TV square is square, but I don't see the excitment of watching even a new game show or talk show in 16:9 and being able to feel like I'm in the audience as everything is further back, or seeing the camera men......why is this so popular?, TV shows are not movies, especially talk shows, game shows, etc. Compare it sometime, watch Jeopardy on standard and then HD....what do you gain on the sides?

Anyone that can shed light on the COZI situation? Or am I the only one....COZI is the only station of my over 1000 stations that looks like this, and I also have Antenna, MeTV, GetTV all perfect 24/7 direct feeds.

Thats good news. I will say it seems like Cozi TV is making some inroads on classic tv. They have a decent lineup right now.

I'm hoping my NBC Affiliate (WKYC) gets Cozi TV real soon...I like this show!

I've also e-mailed them about that but never got a response.

Thank you so much!!!! I was beginning to think I was the only one, as none of the "experts" here, cable company or COZI have given any explanation, I have been total ignored except now from you!

I can take watching full screen stretched versions, but left and right letterbox happens on no other channel. Call me old fashioned, but since 90% of what I own on DVD or watch is old...I hate new 16:9 disposable TV's and the picture is not as clear, it is pixeled....There is nothing like a TV with a screen made of glass!....I only have standard aspect ratio TV's and am extremely annoyed I can't even buy one anymore......C'mon record players and vinyl records are coming back and respected.

I am well versed in technology and have a over 30 year TV in perfect condition with no actual inputs, yet have 2 DVD recorders hooked up to it!

I've had Cozi for about 6 months now. You get used to it. I have a tv where you can make it wide screen, but I usually don't even bother.

It's too bad that they do that. If they didn't I'd watch them; they have a lot of shows that I'd like to see.

It's a shame I don't get Dish then, plus no Cozi affiliate where I am. :-(

I dont like how Cozi presents there shows with the black boxes but you get used it. As long as the episodes are not choppy or edited, its fine with me.

This doesn't do me any good, I would have rather it come to Antenna.

I didn't think we had Cozi on Dish so it's a nice surprise to see this new-to-us fetv has it on channel 82. Great too that the picture is better than MeTV and they're putting the show on at 5pm. That's a good time of day for it. I haven't seen Run For Your Life in years and they have that on Friday nights. Marcus Welby is on daily too. Haven't seen that in many years. Good job by Cozi/fetv.
They're putting together a pretty solid schedule with better picture quality than the standard definition on MeTV and TVLand.

I didn't expect anything, but this looks like a pretty good channel that's worth watching. This channel is already better than TVLand.

COZI makes no sense in its presentation especially for a classic TV channel that runs shows shot in the old standard aspect ratio 4:3 and for many of us that mainly watch old shows, I don't need 16:9, I want a glass clear screen and a TV that doesn't need repair or needs to be replaced after a year!

Sorry OT for above paragraph.......Had hope for "The Dick Van Dyke Show" but no it has the letter box black bars screen left and right and of course just like everything else is run stetched, yet the promos don't? All of COZI's shows on standard 4:3 old TV's run stretched, but why do some run full screen yet stretched like Charlie's Angels, Make Room For Daddy, yet Real McCoys and Dick Van Dyke are unwatchable stretched and not full screen.

It's a Mess! and I feel nervous not COZI while watching childhood favorites!

thoughts?

I'm watching the Dick Van Dyke Show on channel 82 with Dish and I see no problem with the picture being stretched unnaturally. Is anyone with Dish having that problem?

This multi layered topic has been discussed and confirmed by other posters in another thread. The issue only happens on old 4:3 TV's who get COZI directly full time 24/7 through a provider, and not through the newly added DISH TV channel 82 which you are actually watching FETV (Family Entertainment) so when you are watching through an affliate, all bets are off, so no sense asking respectfully.

I don't like widescreen either. If I want to see something in widescreen, I'll go to a movie theater. In my home on my TV set, I want fullscreen. No cropped widescreen garbage with black bars at the top and bottom.

I also try to avoid DVD's produced in widescreen. As a Bowery Boys fan, I'm aware that Warner Archive has been releasing the Bowery Boys on DVD. The later movies from 1953 and forward were originally filmed in widescreen, Warners is putting these movies on their DVD's in that same widescreen format. Thankfully, I have all the Bowery Boys movies uncut in fullscreen format, TV airings I recorded years ago. So as far as I'm concerned, the "purists" at Warners can keep their widescreen garbage.

I doubt many people are using old 4:3 TVs as their main TV. It seems a minor complaint, because it effects so few, to knock a new channel that is offering some quality programs for a large percentage of its audience. Can't get 8-track tapes anymore, either.

Respectfully I don't get into silly back and forths, but you mentioned 8 tracks, i could say factually vinyl records are hotter than ever now then in the past 20 years, so..........?

Meaning formats have a shelf life, RCA selectavision discs, laser discs, Beta format, so yes I get it, can't buy VHS either...so what?......Now it's bluray.....but except for greed do 1950's TV series need to be re-re-re-leased on bluray?

the point was the old shows were shot in 4:3, not 16:9 widescreen and factually old TV's that weighed a ton, lasted over 20 years, because they were made better and in a wooden cabinet. As a consumer, If I can buy a record player, I should at least be able to buy a 4:3 Glass screen TV instead of buying a piece of plastic that if my child puts his finger on the screen he can create a video trail and most are meant be thrown out when they break within a year!

Half the audience and viewers don't even know how to work their modern TV's and watch shows stretched, either up and down or left to right.

I'll end with your own 8-track mention, which was just a format that ended when cassettes took over, luckily after being ignored for years, our shared love of classic TV here isn't treated like the 8-track, as we can still buy them on DVD and when I see them on the now never dreamed of new classic TV channels, I expect to view them as they were filmed.
