Hallmark Channel’s "When Calls the Heart" Renewed for Second Season

Hallmark Channel has given a second season pickup to "When Calls the Heart", its second original scripted series which stars Lori Loughlin, Erin Krakow and Daniel Lissing.

It follows the renewal for a second season of Hallmark’s first original scripted series, "Cedar Cove".



Based on the bestselling series of books of the same name by Janette Oke, "When Calls the Heart" tells the story of a young woman who begins a new chapter in her life in a 19th century coal mining town. It is averaging a 1.5 household rating.

"When Calls the Heart" is executive produced by Brad Krevoy, Brian Bird and Michael Landon, Jr.

Hallmark Channel has picked up a third season of original scripted series "When Calls the Heart" for premiere in February. The network ordered 10 hours of Season 3, with a 2-hour sneak peek of episodes 1 and 2 premiering during the 2015 holiday season.

Based on the bestselling series of books of the same name by Janette Oke, "When Calls the Heart" tells the story of a young woman who begins a new chapter in her life in an early 20th century coal mining town.

Stars Lori Loughlin, Erin Krakow, Daniel Lissing and Kristina Wagner are set to return for Season 3.

On the heels of record-breaking ratings for its Season 3 finale, Hallmark Channel has ordered a fourth season of frontier drama series "When Calls the Heart".

Production on the new season is scheduled to begin in Vancouver this summer for a 2017 premiere.



The Season 3 finale episode pulled a 2.6 HH rating and 3 million total viewers in Live+3, making it highest-rated episode in the series’ history, according to Hallmark Channel and Nielsen stats. Overall, the third season averaged a 2.3 HH rating and 2.6 million total viewers in Live+3.

Additionally, this season outperformed the season two L+3 delivery average by 23% among HHs, 46% among W25-54 and 30% among total viewers.

Hallmark Channel has picked up a fifth season of "When Calls the Heart", its original scripted drama starring Erin Krakow as a young woman who begins a new chapter in her life in an early-20th century coal mining town.

Also starring Lori Loughlin, Daniel Lissing, Jack Wagner, Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith, the series wrapped its fourth season with year-over-year double-digit ratings gains in households and key demos, the Crown Media-owned cable net said.



“Viewers have fallen in love with When Calls the Heart and have embraced the themes of faith, family and community,” said Michelle Vicary, EVP Programming and Network Publicity at Crown Media Family Networks.

“The talented writing staff and our amazing cast have created our best season yet, and the record ratings reflect this.”

"When Calls the Heart" fans can breathe a sigh of relief! Erin Krakow, the lead of the popular Hallmark Channel show announced today that it has been renewed for season 7 in the wake of former cast member Lori Loughlin’s college admissions scandal.

Krakow took to Instagram to announce the news saying enthusiastically “I am thrilled to announce When Calls the Heart Season 7, coming next year! We can’t wait to get back to Hope Valley!”




After Loughlin’s academic mishaps, "When Calls the Heart" took a hiatus at the beginning of March, leaving their fans questioning the show’s fate. It was recently announced that the show will be returning with a special two-night event on May 5 and 6.

Afterward, the show will resume airing at its regular 8 pm time slot on Sundays. Now, it will return next year for another season.

Hallmark Channel has renewed "When Calls the Heart" for a tenth season and is bringing on a new showrunner to help oversee the fan favorite: Lindsay Sturman (Supergirl), a television veteran with writing and producing credits spanning over 15 years in the industry, will take over the top job.
