The start time of 9:45 PM is due to the new Disney Channel Original
Movie Zapped! with Zendaya airing at 8 PM.
Family Ties Forever! 06-06-2014, 10:23 AM I watched the trailer. The show looks cute. :)

is it a remake of the Scott Baio movie?
bh7812 06-13-2014, 07:44 PM Watched the pilot early this morning on iTunes! Very very impressed with it, it was a very well done pilot! It definitely is a real true sequel to the original series just judging from this first episode. There's some things they may need to tweak, but it's got some serious potential. I will say now I do not like the theme song at all. The lyrics for the song are perfect and fit what the show's about, but the actual music they're with is an awful choice :( that was about my only complaint though. That Farkle character has enormous potential, it's gonna be quite interesting to see what they do with him. Believe it or not, the character of Cory seems like a very good, cool teacher. That part wasn't terrible in any way. Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel haven't aged a day since the finale of the original series..they look and sound the exact same now as they did then. And, good God did they nail that casting for Riley! The voice is literally a cross of both her parents and her personality is a split of both! Holy crap they could NOT have hit the bulls eye any more with that. People will definitely be going :o at that! Maya is a female Shawn, if anything I'd say she may end up being even badder than he was. She even alludes to that in saying she's always pushed it way too far and it'll only get worse. I was concerned that being on Disney Channel they would avoid the life lessons/serious issues but after seeing the pilot I think it'll be okay, looks like Disney's letting them of the show they want without any compromises.
My only real concern is the fact the pilot is available 2 weeks before airing for free on iTunes. I'm afraid anyone who has any interest in seeing it will just watch it that way and not when it airs..the premiere night ratings will be crucial and may make or break the show right outta the gate. Gonna be interesting to see how it does in 2 weeks....
Overall, I'm incredibly impressed, they got everything more or less perfect..I had a LOT of doubts when they announced the series but not anymore after the pilot. They got most of the people involved with the original series, they've caster the characters well, seems to be no compromises made either. Just from that pilot, I'd grade that am A plus. Theme song I'll be very generous and give it a C- the actual lyrics an A. Very much looking forward to watching this first year play out. Season pass is only 20 bucks for SD version so you can bet I'm gonna get that locked in and set up within a few days. This really seems to be the sequel everyone had hoped for..it's in good hands, guys I don't think there's anything to be worried about! Hoping it'll do well enough for renewal, we will see!
tlc38tlc38 06-15-2014, 09:41 AM I plan on watching it on iTunes later this afternoon but I will also watch it when it airs so I can record it to DVD. Disney shows never get proper treatment when it comes to season releases on DVD so I plan on taking care of that problem myself.
UPDATE:. I watched it and I loved it! Totally a"dork"able! I'm really looking forward to the official premiere on Disney channel and more new episodes! Can't wait!
Spark Of Spirit 06-16-2014, 06:59 PM I also saw it. It's a good start for the show, and reminds me a lot of the early episodes of BMW. If the show is allowed to change and grow (and pass four seasons) who knows where it could end up?
All in all, good start.
FuriosityShell 06-17-2014, 03:13 AM I think the show should have six seasons, covering Riley going from a seventh grader to a senior in high school.
Season 1-7th grade (12-13 years old) 2013-14
Season 2-8th grade (13-14 years old) 2014-15
Season 3-9th grade (14-15 years old) 2015-16
Season 4-10th grade (15-16 years old) 2016-17
Season 5-11th grade (16-17 years old) 2017-18
Season 6-12th grade (17-18 years old) 2018-19
Most shows start to decline in quality by the end of their sixth season, so six seasons is a healthy number of seasons for GMW to have. Though knowing Disney Channel, that's very unlikely. Even if they did have six seasons, they'd probably stretch the final season out until 2020, airing one new episode a month like they have a history of doing.

This is what I'm worried about.
It'd be funny if they skip a year (grade) like they did on BMW.
FuriosityShell 06-17-2014, 07:31 PM Yeah, that would be weird though because Rowan Blanchard is the same age as Riley and the reason they did that on BMW was because Ben and Rider were like two years older than Cory and Shawn.
If they hadn't skipped grades, they would be seniors in season 7. That's funny because I could easily believe Ben Savage as an 11 year-old in the first season, but him and Rider being 17-18 in the seventh season is certainly less believable.

Disney show don't have more than 4 seasons.
Spark Of Spirit 06-19-2014, 03:17 PM Disney show don't have more than 4 seasons. The Suite Life had 6 (albeit with a name change) and Phineas & Ferb just passed 4, so who really knows?
It's possible they've planned on making an exception for this one.
Mr. Television 06-19-2014, 05:57 PM I doubt it. Good Luck Charlie was just moving along. It had good ratings. It even had a movie a couple of years ago but it ended once it got to about 100 episodes. I guess it's better than 65 which is what Disney used to cancel shows with.

Technically, The Suite Life series had 3 seasons each, since Disney Channel doesn't count it as one show. Phineas & Ferb are still on their fourth season, they have not been picked up for a fifth yet. Maybe Michael Jacobs will be able to persuade Disney to give Girl Meets World an extra season or two.
