It's Official: "General Hospital" Nabs Former "Young and the Restless" Star Michelle Stafford

After saying adios to Genoa City last year, "Young and The Restless" vet Michelle Stafford made her return to daytime with a surprise entrance on Thursday’s "General Hospital".

Stafford’s long-rumored addition to the cast was made official when her character Nina, the presumed-dead wife of Michael Easton’s Silas, suddenly appeared at the very end of the episode.



GH headwriter Ron Carlivati told Daytime Confidential that executive producer Frank Valentini snuck Stafford on set to tape the secret scene in the hopes that fans wouldn’t see it coming.

“We’ve been sweating it out ever since that it would stay under wraps!” the scribe said.

Wow... had no idea she was headed to GH. They certainly kept that a secret! She is an amazing actress, so I'm sure she will bring an intense spin on a new character!

Not excited to hear this. While I still love Y&R, there is something missing in Genoa City when Phyllis isn't on the canvas. I hope this GH thing is short-lived, and she heads back home where she belongs.

Michelle is hot and Nick who dated her on the show should've stayed with her. My mom told me Nick and Sharon broke up again.

No. The character Phyllis came back to Y&R, Michelle Stafford did not. Phyllis is now portrayed by Gina Tognoni, and I have to say that she's doing an excellent job.

I agree! I liked her on OLTL but I really like her as Phyllis. I'm sure it's hard to replace such a fan favorite and she is making the character her own!

She definitely is. Phyllis started out with an evil side, but she softened over the years. It's understandable, because someone who is truly evil doesn't typically have much longevity on a show. But it seems that Gina is bringing a bit of it back to the character, which is nice.

Gina Tognoni is the only actress that I can think of capable of taking over the role of Phyllis from Michelle. I've caught a few episodes with Gina, and she is great, as always. I've also caught some of Michelle's performances on GH, and she's incredible in her new role!

I have to say congratulations to Gina on her Daytime Emmy Lead Actress nomination for Y&R! She earned that nomination quite quickly.
