I've got access to a huge number of old Facts of Life articles and adverts. '80sSitcoms suggested I share a few in a new thread, and I thought that sounded like a capital idea.

These first two are re-posted from another thread, but I'll add to them.

The first image is a May 1980 promo for episode 1-11, "Running". The second is a 1980 promo for the new series.

NBC has little faith in 'Facts of Life'
By DAN LEWIS

Charlotte Rae, a short, chunky divorced chunky divorced [SIC] comedienne, who plays on NBC's "The Facts of Life," is watching her low-rated show become more popular during the summer rerun season.

"I'm hoping the summer sampling will carry over into the fall," she says. Yet, NBC doesn't share her hopes; they've renewed the show and given it a Friday evening sked that Miss Rae doesn't consider ideal.

"The Facts of Life" deals with mischievous adolescent girls at a private school who need Mrs. Garrett's advice and management. It attracts a teen-age audience.

"But," complains Miss Rae, "by Friday night, most teen-agers are out."

Miss Rae, however, is happy to be back on the air. "They (NBC program executives) told us it was the only place they could fit us in," she says.

This means that NBC is not thrilled with the series, and they are giving it another try in a less desirable position. Meanwhile, changes are about to occur in the series. There were too many girls cluttering the stores last season, according to Miss Rae.

"We're going to reduce the cast from seven girls to four," she reveals. Three of the four will be returning: Lisa Whelchel (Blair), Kim Fields (Tootie) and Mindy Cohn (Natalie). The fourth girl will be a newcomer, described by Miss Rae as a "street kid" who is enrolled at the school.

"Seven girls created traffic problems," explained Miss Rae. "The audience got confused. The three holdovers were the most popular in the testing of audience reaction."

Miss Rae will also have more responsibilities, so as to make her into a take-charge person. Most of the activity will switch from the house to the all-purpose room over the cafeteria and the cafeteria. Another cast addition will be a young male cook.

"We're looking at standup comics for this role," Miss Rae reported, adding that the search has included the comedy showcase nightclubs in New York and Los Angeles. "We would like a Woody Allen type," she adds.

There will not be any classroom scenes in the new season, which has made the role of the headmaster (John Lawler) expendable. But, another character, a caretaker in his 50s, will be Miss Rae's ally. The series has a new executive producer, Jack Elinson, and three new writers, including Linda Marsh, a moderately successful actress.

Miss Rae first developed Mrs. Garrett on NBC's "Diff'rent Strokes." NBC executives decided her character could be spun into its own series. Miss Rae, a native of Milwaukee, Wis, attended Northwestern, where she met two drama school classmates, Cloris Leachman and Paul Lynde.

"Cloris and I went to New York together and lived in the same building," she recalls.

She performed in theater and developed a comedy act for appearances ;it supper clubs (Village Vanguard and The Blue Angel). She also played Mammy Yokum in the original cast of "Li'l Abner" on Broadway. Two-time Tony Award nominee as supporting actress for "Pickwick" and "Morning, Noon and Night," she has appeared in the short-lived TV series, ''Hot L Baltimore."

She also marches for ERA, because "You have to put the body where the mouth is. I don't want to be a 'giberal.'" She's supporting John Anderson for president.

An article from August 1980. Notice how the order of the girls has been irrevocably changed. Lisa, Kim, and Mindy are now introduced first. The Lost Girls appear later in the article. By this time, the producers knew who would stay and who would go (apparently, they did not know who was staying in July 1980, a month earlier, based on newspaper reports which give a very different impression). But by August, it is clear.

Oh wow! I have so many things to say about this, lol.

Charlotte Rae, a short, chunky divorced chunky divorced [SIC] comedienne,

LOL! Poor Charlotte, is this how it really looks in print?? Boy talk about choosing the wrong words to repeat!

"I'm hoping the summer sampling will carry over into the fall," she says. Yet, NBC doesn't share her hopes; they've renewed the show and given it a Friday evening sked that Miss Rae doesn't consider ideal.

It's interesting to see these sorts of comments all throughout the article showing how public NBC was about not having much faith at all in the series. Yikes!

Miss Rae, however, is happy to be back on the air. "They (NBC program executives) told us it was the only place they could fit us in," she says.

Well, that's what they "say".

There were too many girls cluttering the stores last season, according to Miss Rae.

Well "Miss Rae" was wrong! And she was probably told this by all the network people and producers and writers. And they were wrong.

Wow, so the official word was already out well before the season premiere. At least to some fans, who happened to read at least this article, lol.

"Seven girls created traffic problems," explained Miss Rae.

No they didn't! lol

The audience got confused.

No we didn't! lol

Most of the activity will switch from the house to the all-purpose room over the cafeteria and the cafeteria.

You mean the all-purpose room, or "lounge", next to the cafeteria? lol And they have the order reversed. This sentence should read, "Most of the activity will switch from the dormitory to the cafeteria and the adjacent lounge."

Another cast addition will be a young male cook.

Oh come on Dan Lews, what've you been smokin'? ;)

But, another character, a caretaker in his 50s, will be Miss Rae's ally.

Now I'm picturing Eastland cemetery, lol. I know that's "undertaker", but it still conjures up that image, lol.

She also played Mammy Yokum in the original cast of "Li'l Abner" on Broadway. Two-time Tony Award nominee as supporting actress for "Pickwick" and "Morning, Noon and Night,"

Wow, I'd either not known, or had forgotten those credits.

She also portrayed "Molly the Mail Lady" on Sesame Street in its 3rd season, 1971-1972, where she had a crush on Bob---and had black hair! lol

Thanks for starting this RetroGuy, I cannot wait to see what other gems you have!! And you've done this perfect way, whetting our appetites with the couple you've already shared in a previous thread, making our mouths water to see and read the "previously unreleased" material you have! These are fascinating and should all be compiled into an Eastland "Yearbook" for fans to purchase! :D

An article from August 1980.

Yikes, I wonder what 13-year-old Mindy thought of their description of Natalie? Couldn't they have referred to her as the "court jester" or something about her class clown humor, rather than her weight? Sheesh.

And I don't like how they paired up Cindy and Sue Ann. They were both different characters. I wish they had played up Cindy as the sports-loving tomboy, and Sue Ann as the peppy scholarship girl with the down home Kansas City roots.

And poor Nancy..."the all-American 14-year-old", lol.

I did like their description of Molly. :) They really gave her a much larger and more-rounded description than the other Lost Girls.

Notice at the end though they say "warm-hearted laugher" instead of "laughter".

RetroGuy, do you know from whence this article came?

RetroGuy2000

LOL! Poor Charlotte, is this how it really looks in print?? Boy talk about choosing the wrong words to repeat!

Yep, that's exactly how it appears.

It's interesting to see these sorts of comments all throughout the article showing how public NBC was about not having much faith at all in the series. Yikes!

I think this was actually kayfabe. By spreading the word that they had no faith in the series, they'd get the dedicated fans to watch... and get their friends to watch. By mentioning how horrible the new timeslot is, they get the word out about what the new timeslot is. And that time slot paid dividends for them: just after DS, on a night with not much competition.

Well "Miss Rae" was wrong! And she was probably told this by all the network people and producers and writers. And they were wrong.

Yes, and it slowly became "conventional wisdom" about the show. But it's easy to poke holes in many of these theories.

Wow, so the official word was already out well before the season premiere. At least to some fans, who happened to read at least this article, lol.

Yes, the word was out by this point. And they knew who the three kept girls would be.

You mean the all-purpose room, or "lounge", next to the cafeteria? lol And they have the order reversed. This sentence should read, "Most of the activity will switch from the dormitory to the cafeteria and the adjacent lounge."

They were probably still planning the new sets at this time, and didn't know exactly what they would be.

Oh come on Dan Lews, what've you been smokin'? ;)

Nice "Dope" reference. :) I think that character morphed into two characters: Howard the Cook and Roy the Bun Boy.

Wow, I'd either not known, or had forgotten those credits.

She also portrayed "Molly the Mail Lady" on Sesame Street in its 3rd season, 1971-1972, where she had a crush on Bob---and had black hair! lol

Pics or it didn't happen. ;)

I agree. Of course, by this time, they knew they'd be dumping the Lost Girls, so why bother coming up with a long description?

Hmm, perhaps. And besides DS, it was about all the network had! lol

They were probably still planning the new sets at this time, and didn't know exactly what they would be.

Well, you're nice in giving them the benefit of the doubt, but since they said the all-purpose room "above" the cafeteria, I would think they had to have known that the girls would instead be living over the cafeteria, and they just got it mixed up. It makes more sense for the "common areas" to be on the ground floor and any lodgings for the "delinquents" (lol) to be above them. I know this is all easy to say in hindsight, though. Just interesting...

I think that character morphed into two characters: Howard the Cook and Roy the Bun Boy.

Although Roy didn't appear until two seasons later. So the girls had to settle for Howard being "cute".

Pics or it didn't happen. ;)

You want proof? You got proof ;)

A black-haired Charlotte Rae crushing on Bob as Molly the Mail Lady:

http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/charlotte-rae.jpg

She is also included in footage from a couple "street segments" as Molly the Mail Lady on the first of the "Sesame Street Old School" DVD sets.

I agree. Of course, by this time, they knew they'd be dumping the Lost Girls, so why bother coming up with a long description?

Well they sure came up with one for Molly---trying to trick us! lol

Those would be my favorite ones too, the obscure ones, but I want them ALL! :D

Good stuff and great post!! You know I remember watching Biography or something that talked about the Facts of Life. For one, how the show was almost cancelled, shrinking the cast etc.

I will say its probably a blessing in disguise for Molly Ringwald, who went on to have a great career, with all the "teen angst" movies she was in.

Nice!

And now I will respond in kind, with a nice article from the Winnipeg Free Press, from Saturday, August 25, 1979, p 23, written by television critic Randal McIlroy, who gave a pretty glowing review of "Rough Housing", including Lisa's and Julie Anne's scenes in the episode (doesn't at all seem like "critics loathed it or ignored it"):

Lesser-light shines in Strokes spinoff

The producers of Dlff rent Strokes (7 p.m.
Channel 7 — Cables 5 and 8) tried something
really different several weeks ago.
They chose a peripheral player and gave
her an episode for herself.

Charlotte Rae, who plays Mrs. Garrett,
housekeeper for the Drummond family, took
a temporary job as den mother in a finishing
school for girls.

The writers amplified the differences and
similarities between the slightly old-fashioned
Mrs. Garrett and the more urbane
young ladies. The episode was both amusing
and intelligent.

Facts Of Life (7:30 p.m. Cable 8) is the
series born of that single show. NBC has only
prepared four stories, but if the program
impresses within that brief exposure, then it
may be introduced as a weekly series.
This was what we found. In Diff'rent
Strokes, Garrett was hungover and depressed.
She had been to a party with all her
successful friends; none of them were housekeepers.
She staggered to the breakfast table.
Arnold (Gary Coleman), the kiddy whiz,
suggests that she "really tied one on last
night."

For what it's worth, Rae's performance in
this scene ranks as one of the more inspired
moments on TV.

Mrs. Garrett decided to resign so that she
could become a full-time member of the
finishing school. She agreed, however, to
remain with the family until the closing
credits.

After a station break the entire cast moved
into the new show. Precocious Arnold was
instantly mobbed by a gaggle of gigglers.
It was a tight, even compelling story. A
tomboy (Julie Anne Haddock) was rebuked
for her supposed masculine tendencies. Not,
you would agree, a topic likely to show up on
Happy Days.
Haddock was in conflict with Blair (Lisa
Whelchel), the standard class beauty
queen.

This show was absolutely bubbling with
pungent one-liners. There is a wealth of sly
digs to be had at the expense of a flock of
blossoming young women. And even if the
bra jokes tended to fall a little flat (sorry),
well, it was a change from sexual double
entendres.

Rae is a joy, but she'll have her hands full
trying to compete against Dorothy Loudon,
who plays a similar role in Dorothy. The two
shows are so alike that we may soon expect a
host of new sitcoms devoted to adolescent
angst as it is found in finishing schools.
Remember where you read it.

And since we've had a bit of Julie Anne, it's time for some Julie Pie. This image originally appeared in TV Guide, I believe, around summer 1981. The film referenced in the mini-article is a made-for-TV movie better known as The Miracle of Kathy Miller, which aired in October 1981, and which starred Helen Hunt. Helen and Julie had already worked together on FOL, when Helen played one of the marijuana-pushing girls in what I call "Dorm B".

Oo, very cool Winnipeg article! Although it sounds like they kind of combined "The Girls School" with an episode where Mrs. Garrett officially resigns, although I don't remember such an episode (and I have the first two seasons of DS on DVD, mostly to complete "The Mrs. Garrett Collection", haha).

It's nice to read a very promising review of the pilot!

But, "Dorothy"? Bet hardly anyone remembers that from the TV landscape!

And it wouldn't be fair to not include Felice. (See if you can spot the weird part).

Hey, here's one I found promoting the series premiere. And there's a naive back-door pilot Sue Ann Weaver (from "Eastlake", no less) as "Bottom" from "The Crock" 's Shakespearean pilfering, lol. And that looks like Nancy doing some dance stretching or posing. And Kimberly's there, and also some random unidentified girls, lol.

But Mrs. Garrett is in charge of "dozens" of teenage girls"? Who wrote this ad, Warren Littlefield? ;)

I also like the "a surprise hiding behind every door" gimmick---like Eastland is a private "Laugh-In" school.

Bwahaha! Great find! Love Sue Ann in the "Bottom' suit!

Did you know the school Eastland was based on was Westlake? So that's probably why the name was suddenly changed to Eastland... Eastlake was probably considered too thinly-veiled.

But Mrs. Garrett is in charge of "dozens" of teenage girls"? Who wrote this ad, Warren Littlefield? ;)

Bwahahaha!

But, I've got to say, in the DS episode, it does seem like dozens in the room, even if only 7-8 are actually living in that dorm. It's never explained how it went from a zoo full of girls to just seven in the dorm. Would only seven girls per dorm really even be profitable? And what happened to Jenny? And was Cindy a transfer from another dorm?

Well, I think that nice image you just posted proves they thought Felice was pretty, too. That's quite an interesting image, with all of the glamor girls in the shot.

Here's an article, written by Steve K Walz, which focuses on Felice's looks and high IQ (reportedly 162). It appeared in the Mount Carmel, Illinois, Daily Republican Register on Friday, March 28, 1980, six months after the broadcast of "IQ".

Oh I'm sure they did, it's just interesting that one article does specifically cite the hriing of the three blondes to be "the pretty girls", which Lisa dismisses ("We were all pretty", is her response).

With Nancy being such a dancer, it's a real shame they didn't write any storis about that, like they did Kimberly Drummond; the closest they came was the backdoor pilot with Nancy doing a little choreography for "The Crock" 's play.

How cool, a journal/blog article from a guy who was on the scene when The Facts of Life Goes to Paris was being filmed! :)

http://larryfarlow.com/2014/01/

January 11, 2014

The Facts of Life in Paris

In the summer of 1982 I spent about a month in Europe with some friends. We started out in England and after a few days there crossed the channel to France and made our way to Paris. We did all the normal tourist things, the Eiffel Tower, Napoleon’s tomb at the Invalids, the Louvre, etc. On the day we visited Notre Dame, the crowd outside was unusually large. As we got closer, it became clear why. The cast of the popular American sitcom “The Facts of Life” was outside the church. They were filming what would become the made-for-TV movie “The Facts of Life Goes to Paris” which aired in September, 1982 as the opener for season four of the show.

Since many of the tourists were Americans, people were crowding around wanting to meet the stars, take their pictures, get autographs, etc. The cast was so gracious in accommodating the fans. I don’t recall seeing any security, at least no one ever tried to stop people from approaching the cast, and the stars comfortably mingled with the crowd spending several minutes posing for pictures.

Though I don’t have anything to compare it to (my brush with celebrities has been scarce since then), I somehow doubt it would work the same way today. My guess is the cast would be separated from the crowds by barricades and any attempt to get close to the stars would be “discouraged” by big guys wearing sunglasses and ear pieces.

At any rate, as a reminder of a simpler time, here are some of the pictures I took that day:

Yeah, but it was the only copy of that article I saw, so still thought I'd share it (maybe it can be read with a magnifying glass, lol).

Better than nothing, I guess!

That's strange, they show up on my end...meanwhile, whatever you shared in post #32 isn't showing up on my end, just your text.

I't just a link to a YouTube video, which appears to work fine, now that I edited it. :)

The Paris pics are brilliant. Thanks so much for sharing them. I might write a nice thanks to the guy who originally shared them on his blog, as well.

I know, I love those...and I agree, nice feedback for him is a good idea. And you believe how casual things were, just the girls (and Charlotte lol) in the streets of Paris unguarded, fans and tourists casually mixing in with them and mingling among them and getting autographs and pictures with them with no obstacles whatsoever? Wow...and this was just as "recent" as 1982. Boy how things changed in even just a decade's time.

That is amazing.

By the way, I fixed those two photos of Charlotte on the previous page, thanks. :)

One of the things I find interesting about these particular promo photos is Mrs. G's glaring absence in them. Wasn't Charlotte Rae the star of the show? And yet, it is almost as if they took a second series of photos without her, in case she wouldn't be back next season. I suppose it's possible she could have gone back to DS.

Or, fanwanking and optimistic here, perhaps these were "partner" photos which appeared beside solo photos of Charlotte next to them? Such as in a press kit or ad or something. That's how I'd like to think of it anyway, lol.

But yup, that's definitely an interesting observation.

Facts of Life made a lot of money for a lot people. Norman Lear had already earned 30 million from the series by the time season 9 had started. It was the most profitable syndication deal at the time it was established, and was finalized years before enough episodes had even been created. (Syndication shows need to hit the 100 ep mark to be considered). There was faith this show would consistently deliver a younger (and most coveted) demographic.

Blair, Tootie, Natalie, and---Molly?? Wow, what a find!

I wonder how Molly got a shout-out over Sue Ann?? Maybe Ms. Ringwald had a great agent!

How odd! But what a fun fantastic quirky find!

It definitely isn't what you'd expect, based on actually seeing the episodes they're promoting. It'd be like seeing a Season Four episode with Casey Kasem announcing, "With Blair, Tootie, Jo and Princess Alexandra, she'd better watch out!"

Hahaha! Did you put her in there just to get my Eastland goat?

Yeah, Sue Ann had a MUCH bigger role than Molly in "The Facts of Love"; so it's crazy they didn't highlight her instead!

Yep. But it does lend some credence to what Molly has said about them retaining her. Why spend the time to promote a character you're not interested in keeping on?

Those bumpers are brief, but fun!

I think only Kim and Mindy actually hosted the cartoons, but Lisa, Nancy, Kim and Mindy all did those "One to Grow On" Saturday morning spots. Kim and Nancy for sure did many of them.

While searching for the Nick at Nite promo where they mention the Lost Girls, I instead came across this article (http://articles.courant.com/2000-09-01/features/0009011301_1_facts-show-kids) from the Hartford Courant, from September 1, 2000. See if you can spot the mistakes!

A `Facts Of Life' Revival

'80s Series Gets Spot On Nick At Nite

September 01, 2000|By DAVID DALEY; Courant Staff Writer

It was years before the Brat Pack became the icons of '80s teenagers, and long before John Cusack made the girls blush in ``Say Anything'' and ``The Sure Thing'' and Molly Ringwald became the decade's most desirable prom date.

Ringwald and Cusack's every-teen appeal came from the way their characters took the good, took the bad, took them both -- and there they had ``The Facts of Life.'' Indeed, the NBC sitcom should probably receive more credit as the ``very special'' real-life precursor to the Reagan-era coming-of-age classics by John Hughes, Cameron Crowe and Rob Reiner.

http://articles.courant.com/images/pixel.gif
http://articles.courant.com/images/pixel.gif
Maybe now that will happen, as Nick at Nite revives the long-running '80s retro-culture favorite with a ``Facts of Life'' marathon all next week, before the show joins the prime-time nostalgia fest at 8:30 Monday through Thursday.

The ``Facts'' girls -- Lisa Whelchel, Nancy McKeon, Kim Fields and Mindy Cohn -- were spun-off from ``Diff'rent Strokes'' in 1979, and the show ran nine seasons, following Blair, Jo, Tootie and Mindy not just through the high school traumas at elite Eastland Academy but through college and their first halting step into the professional world. And along the way, the show gave early starts to George Clooney, Helen Hunt, David Spade, Juliette Lewis and Ringwald, a cast member during the first year.

Calling from her home in California this week, Whelchel speculated that the show's honest approach to adolescent angst is why she still gets random hugs from fans now, 12 years after the show went off the air.

``I've come to understand,'' Whelchel said, with a laugh. ``It's kind of like meeting up with a kid you grew up with. There's so much to talk about. People want to catch up. I think that's probably because, to some degree, everybody bonded with at least one girl.
``As a whole, the show dealt with feelings everybody was going through and dealing with in their own lives. That's what makes it so much fun to have a marathon. This is like catching up with old friends.''

These days, Whelchel, 37, is married and the mother of three. She rarely acts, choosing instead to home-school her children, setting up her own Eastland Academy for them. And one thing she doesn't do is let them watch much TV.

``We had our strengths and weaknesses as characters, but it wasn't a show that people felt bad about their kids watching,'' she said. ``One of the things that's so sad about shows that have young people now is you don't want your kids to watch it, because you don't want your kids to act like that. They're disrespectful of their parents. They have loose morals. I don't want to generalize, but that really is the case.''

And while Whelchel opted out of the Hollywood game, most of her fellow ``Facts'' classmates have had that decision made for them. McKeon has been limited to mostly TV movies about Mafia princesses and female volunteer firefighters. Cohn's most prominent role has been as a voice on the cartoon ``Chimp Channel.'' Fields, however, starred on the long-running sitcom ``Living Single.''

They have, however, faced the facts of life after ``Facts'' with more dignity and fewer tabloid headlines than the stars of the show they were spun off from, ``Diff'rent Strokes.'' Whelchel, a born-again Christian since she was 10, credits her faith in the Lord for helping her prioritize.

http://articles.courant.com/images/pixel.gif
``Child stars look for answers in the things available to them: drugs, alcohol, fame. They have all that readily available,'' she said. ``But it's not the answer they're looking for, and when they grow up and don't have the fame, think, `Oh, goodness. I had it all. That didn't do it. Maybe there is no hope.'

``I was fortunate. I became a Christian. I found the answers everybody's looking for to fill their empty spaces inside. It saved me from going down those other paths, towards those temporary fixes.''

Whelchel plans to share her parenting advice in a book out later this year, called ``Creative Connection.''

But with the kids getting older, she is thinking about getting back into acting, and a ``Facts of Life'' reunion movie may well be in her future. After all, with '70s TV now almost exhausted of potential movie spin-offs, it seems inevitable that ``Facts,'' ``Three's Company'' and ``It's Your Move'' will get big-screen translations soon.

``They're talking about a reunion show. I hope the network goes for it,'' she said. ``I imagine that Blair would probably still be running Eastland. Jo is traipsing across Brazil or something saving the rainforest. Tootie is probably a big movie star. And Natalie is a romance columnist. I can't wait to see what they come up with.''

I have posted this before, but this is a longer version, with a few more details.

It's an AP article from September 5th, 1980, well before the November 1980 table reading of "The New Girl, part 1". The date is significant, because it reveals when the announcement of the trimmed cast was revealed to the public. It also doesn't say anything about Molly being kept on, and is very clear that only three original girls were being kept on.

Good find!

And look Retro, they made sure to include for you there would be NO classroom scenes that season! lol...but saying that makes the headmaster role expendable makes no sense; the headmaster is the headmaster---he can go anywhere on campus!

Also, they were looking for a young Woody Allen-type comic for a young male cook? Wow!

Also interesting they said the "all-purpose room" (a.k.a. "lounge") would be "over the cafeteria", and Howard was, according to this, a "caretaker"! Was the cafeteria in an old dilapidated haunted Victorian mansion on misty moors?

I'm sorry, but any audience who got "confused" wasn't investing much in watching this show.

Well, not this audience's reaction! [pointing to self] If they had polled me, the three holdovers would have been Cindy, Tootie, and Molly! (my favorites in childhood upon first viewing the show)

Well, not this audience's reaction! [pointing to self] If they had polled me, the three holdovers would have been Cindy, Tootie, and Molly! (my favorites in childhood upon first viewing the show)

It's funny. I think I'd categorize those three as the spunkiest.

How funny they cased L.A. and NY for a role that never developed! (or, at least, never made it to the final scripts)

Isn't it how they found Geri Jewel? I know it was supposed to be a male cook, but I have heard the producers discovered Geri doing stand-up in a comedy club, which fits what they were saying about searching NY and LA clubs for comedians.

Maybe the mean spiritedness is why it didn’t last too long. Like I mentioned, I watched their ODAAT take, where they had Julie always drunk and then fired from the episode (referencing real life Mackenzie Phillips), and Barbara became sex crazed and put Schneider’s hands on her butt. And while I can see some people not liking things like that, I can appreciate that in parody you twist and exaggerate things. So it doesn’t bother me.

Is this around the time Molly's acting career took off? Maybe thats why Kim tried to emulate her more

No, no sign of cinnamon buns. ;)

What a misleading promo. To me this seems like they were hinting at Blair being the one dying in the episode ohno:

Season 1 instrumental theme tune used in the promo

 Good call, Lorsie! You're all about catching all the season 1-ness in everything!

Really though, this is a season 4 episode---how crazy they used music inspired from the theme 3 years ago! :cuckoo

They definitely hinted Blair was dying. No-one would tune in if they realized it was a teacher we'd never heard of before.

Season 1 instrumental theme tune used in the promo

Yeah, they did that for years. Most of the Eastland promos use the S1 theme music. It's quite odd, but that's what happened.

Thanks. Gotta love a little nod to season 1.

They seem to use it in the promos a lot. Here's one for Shoplifting with the tune and one for Magnificent Obsession with the same tune. I get random promos for The Facts of Life popping up in my recommended videos. I have a lot in my history viewing on YouTube

I wish this was a scene from the actual episode and not just a promo shot. I forgot about this promo.
