I see that my last thread on this page has thirty-nine views and zero replies. Just for fun, I am going to commemorate this event by writing about a book that was published in 1939. The book that I am thinking of is "Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel". Is anyone here familiar with this story. I remember it being very popular when I was a little boy. For those of you who do not know, Mike Mulligan named his steam shovel Mary Ann. Mike believed that he and Mary Ann could dig as much in a day as a hundred men could in a week! Although this had never been put to the test. I happened to be thinking about this story a few weeks ago and decided to look it up on You Tube. There was an upload of a man reading the story and showing the viewer the pictures. Boy did this bring back memories! In any event, the narrator said that the copyright date was 1939. I will bet that if Paul or Jamie had read this book to Mabel, she would have really appreciated it!
