Which host and sidekick combo would you consider to have had the best chemistry in Late Night? For my money, it's gotta be Letterman and Shaffer. Specifically in the "Late Night" incarnation of their show. Their was something really funny and interesting about the tall, snarky Letterman interacting with a very fidgety and nervous Shaffer.

Johnny Carson/Ed McMahon, nobody else even comes close.

Conan and Andy rocked especially when Andy slams Conan. Johnny would never let Ed outtop him the way Andy does with Conan. Conan and Andy are a great comedy team together. One could not survive without the other.
