View Full Version : THIS is to help end Disney Sequels
moofomoo 03-06-2002, 04:31 PM My site here (http://www.angelfire.com/weird2/villainslair/stopsequels.html) is all about STOPPING those ridiculous Disney sequels from coming. It lists links to other places to visit and my petition which is born from anger about something that really TURNS my stomach so much I had to try and do my part.
They were going to make a SNOW WHITE 2!!!!! The link is on my page, please visit. That's just what BOTHERED me...so I started my own petition.
THIS is the petition of mine (http://www.petitiononline.com/no2d2/petition.html) where I wrote the initial letter and YES I will be sending it to Michael Eisner with a link to the page when enough people sign. PLEASE HELP!!!!!
I know you guys are against sequels as much as I am...we had a whole discussion about this in another thread. Please let your voice be heard.
**Gracie, the serious moo**
Max Whittaker 03-06-2002, 08:26 PM Absolutely, I will sign! SNOW WHITE 2!? Now that's just wrong! Are you sure about this?

here is the link (http://www.animationhistory.com/disneyanimation/ComingUp/SnowWhiteSequel/index.html) that proves not only was Disney going to do Snow White 2, but a PETITION stopped production!
Oh, and ummm, just wondering. 3 of you voted no (so far). So, uh, where were you people when we were all voicing our opposition to Disney and the sequels?
And even moreso, where are you now? I don't mind you saying you won't sign it...that of course is your opinion...but I wonder WHY you won't.
Furthermore, did you even read the petition? I don't know if you disagree because of how it's worded or if it's just because you LIKE movies like Lion King 2 and Peter Pan 2, but disagreeing would be nice with a reason behind it.
....just my words on the subject
**moo**
moofomoo 03-06-2002, 09:27 PM You know only the first part was for you, right? LOL...didn't want you to think I was talking to you...of course I know you signed! I guess I just needed an excuse to talk there...

Of course ;)
Chelsea 03-07-2002, 01:24 AM Snow White 2? What the Heck?
I voted to end them. And you can count on my sig.
Ditto. You know, some of their sequels are good, (ie Little Mermaid 2) but now they're doing it to EVERYTHING! How many have they done? Let's count:
Little Mermaid 2
Aladdin 2 & 3
Rescuers Down Under
Beauty and the Beast (prequels, whatever)
Cinderella 2
Peter Pan 2
Lady & the Tramp 2
Hunchback of Notre Dame 2
That's all I can think of right now, but I think they're enough to turn anyone's stomach.
BTW, good work Gracie! I just signed, and I whole-heartedly wish you luck with this. I'll see if I can help get you some signatures too, I know there's many, many people who feel the same way.
Kay Scarpetta 03-07-2002, 06:18 PM I'll sign :)
Princess~Hayley 03-07-2002, 07:41 PM I will sign. i don't like Disney sequals because itis just not right to make them. they are boring and they have no meaning to them.
ClassicComedyFan2 03-07-2002, 11:25 PM I know this may sound goofy, but sequels are fine. If Disney wants to make sequels, they certainly can. Besides, a Disney movie is better than an R-rated trashcomedy anyday of the week, sequel or original. Any news on a sequel to Emperor's New Groove? now that would be cool. :)

Oh, I'm not arguing Disney making movies...just sequels. If you read the petition, you'll understand where my standpoint is on the whole matter.
I doubt there will be a sequel to TENG really, they're too busy with sequels like Snow White 2 and Sleeping Beauty 2 (not in the works, but hey...doesn't "The NyQuil Overdose" sound like a good title? Someone call Disney. )
Disney used to be classic. Now they're changing to bring out sequels when we all know very well they could use other fairy tales and such.
I do thank you for your honest opinion that you think sequels are just fine though. It's nice to hear why people disagree. (Did you read the petition, by any chance?)
**moo, still curious**

 :rotflmao:  :happyface
moofomoo 03-08-2002, 02:47 PM I'm rather surprised someone who's a fan of classics sees nothing wrong with sequels.
Or did you like spinoffs too?
**moo, honestly curious**
ClassicComedyFan2 03-08-2002, 06:31 PM Thanks for respecting my differing opinion.
I do like classics the best, but I am also a fan of spinoffs and sequels (Star Trek: The Next Generation is one of my favorite series, Star Trek movies after I are good, Toy Story 2 beat one, etc.) I do realize that a remake and sequel most of the time lacks the "magic" or the "spark" of the original (especially if its a remake of a classic show with new actors in old roles, which are still alright, but not as great) but its fun to see what your old favorite characters are up to.
Just my opinion though.
PS I must say this: How can you MAKE a sequel to Snow White? Perhaps she's thrown into the future and lands on the Starship Enterprise...who's just encountered an anomaly in space where a run-down spaceship has the Beverly Hillbillies on board. Then, on a planet McHale's Navy...but I'm getting away from myself, aren't I? :) :)

 Now that could work!
I agree spinoffs and sequels are usually cool. I want to see a sequel to Heavyweights
(so long as they have most of the same cast, of course). And I loved Toy Story 2 and the Little Mermaid 2. However, the way I see it, you just can't make a sequel to a 30 or 50 year old film with the same people in it.
In the beginning, before they started dishing out all these sequels at one time I was content. I didn't mind Lady & the Tramp 2. But there is such a thing as taking a thing too far.
It just doesn't seem right. My opinion :)
MJFfan 03-08-2002, 08:47 PM Do I have to put my email?
-*Forever*- 03-08-2002, 08:52 PM Sequels... I wish TJ would put a gagging smilie on here.... the only sequels which were actually any good were the 2 Aladdin ones and Toy Story 2 (any movie w/ Annie Potts voice in it is ok :))
But SNOW WHITE and CINDERELLA 2?! WTF is their problems????
MJFfan 03-08-2002, 08:54 PM I think with stories like Walt Disney's you shouldn't make sequals because it's never as good. Nothing can equal the orginal, and with sequals to "fairy tales" it makes it like you can never have a happy ending.
Bootsy Whoosh 03-09-2002, 03:06 AM I do have to say that The Rescuers Down Under was better than the Rescuers, IMO. I really did not like the Rescuers much.
And I know this is gonna piss Gracie off, lol, but I actually didn't mind Lady and The Tramp 2 much. It wasn't near as good as the original, but it wasn't awful.
But the sequels are getting out of hand, and now it really does seem like they are doing it just to make money. See when they made Rescuers Down Under, that was a theatrical release, not a direct-to-video release, which I think made it a little better than the average Disney sequel (I haven't seen Neverland though), and made it seem like less of an attempt at simple money-grubbing.

MJFFan, I wouldn't worry about putting your e-mail address down. I've signed petitions there before and I haven't gotten junk mail because of it. Besides, you could probably make up a fake one if you really wanted, as long as it ends with a real domain name, like hotmail, juno, yahoo, etc.
MJFfan 03-09-2002, 11:54 AM I've sent a link to your petition to some people!!
Ewan's My Man 03-09-2002, 02:53 PM O god...Disney Sequels. They are NOT as good as the originals and kinda stupid. I mean...I ADMIT that I do wanna see Return to Neverland...hehehe...but all the sequels just aren't as good. I will sign!!
lnpkrules09 03-09-2002, 10:18 PM I definetely will sign. All these sequels are so annoying! Theres are classics!!!

:livid: Yeah I'm mad ;) Don't worry Bootsy, I don't mind if you liked one of those accursed sequels. Or two...or three...just I'd think you lost your mind if you liked Snow White 2 or Cinderella 2...or ALL OF THEM! lol
I liked Rescuers Down Under actually. I saw it in the theaters and it was indeed comparable to the first, if not better! Ummm, and if you're smart, you won't see Return to Neverland. All the big screen did for that movie was make it harder for you to turn your eyes from. *sighs*
Thank you for signing guys...and for passing it on. I was able to turn my head but when they started making sequels to Cinderella and Snow White, it was too much. I'll stop before I start re-repeating myself LOL
**Gracie moo, thanking you all for everything**
