I don't understand why Pittsburgh never has an NBA team in its city and Cleveland always has a NBA team in its city at all?

Pittsburgh is better city than Cleveland and its needs a NBA team desperately, so the team will become Pittsburgh Cavaliers!

As a lifelong resident of the Steel City I'm pretty confident when I state that the NBA will never get much of a following in this town. It's not that we hate basketball, it's the same for any team in any sport who tries to establish themselves here.

Unlike most cities, Pittsburgh has actually seen a drastic drop in population over the last 30 years as more and more people are moving completely out of the region (known as 'Pittsburgh diaspora'). Our long-established pro teams - the Steelers, Penguins, and now even the Pirates - seem to have a nationwide fanbase as a byproduct of literally hundreds of thousands of people who have relocated and took their team with them. It's extremely challenging to cultivate a sustainable fanbase in a city that's lost nearly 40% of it's population while also competing with existing pro football, baseball, and hockey teams. The Pittsburgh Riverhounds, a pro soccer team that's only been here 15 years, just filed for bankruptcy a few weeks ago.

On top of all this, the city has proven itself for decades to be extremely fickle in it's sports fandom. The 2 previous pro basketball teams we had packed up after losing seasons and no one showed up to the games. The Steelers - who've appeared in and won more Superbowls than ANYONE (even as recently as 2010) - saw record low attendance last year due to a simply average season. As much as it pains me to say, this town is the definition of bandwagon fandom. There is no way in hell Pittsburgh will show up to support a new team with no previous ties to the city whom would likely have a crappy season or 2 that's practically guaranteed with relocated/expansion teams.

I don't know about Cleveland, but after tonight I think we can safely say that Pittsburgh is better than Columbus, but only by a small margin. The Blue Jackets gave the Penguins one hell of a scare before the Penguins finally ended the series in 6 games. The difference, as you would expect, was the work of Crosby and Malkin (with a hat trick) who finally came to life after a surprisingly subpar effort in the first 5 games.

The final result was no surprise but the way it happened certainly was. So, for MrCleveland and other CBJ fans who are feeling awful about what happened, (I know. I've been there!) I would like to say that your city may finally have a winner on its hands. In fact, I would go so far as to say that the Blue Jackets right now may be the best pro sports team in all of Ohio, with the Cincinnati Reds being a close second for as long as they have Joey Votto. So if the Cavs want to move, go ahead. Who needs them? But Pittsburgh isn't the right place. How about Philadelphia instead? They can use a real team right now!:lol:

We shouldn't have major league teams, but Pittsburgh may not be where the Cleveland Cants should be...they should be the new Seattle Supersonics...but then again...the Clippers may be the new Seattle Supersonics after all the **** that hit the fan (and Donald Sterling's face...even Al Jolson was respectable to African-Americans despite donning the controversial blackface)!

i'm going to have to disagree with you about the Penguins-Blue Jackets playoff series and what constitutes a "better" team. The Penguins are definitely the more talented team, and granted they won it fair and square, but the Blue Jackets are definitely the harder-working team - and in the playoffs that counts for a lot more than just talent.

I don't think most Blue Jackets fans are feeling awful about what happened; they got their first ever playoff win - and then a second one - against a much more talented team, they exceeded everyone's expectations, and they were in it in every game - even when they were down by 4 goals they kept plugging away and got back to within a goal. All the Blue Jackets fans that i know are pretty darn proud of all that they accomplished and looking forward to next season.

I don't see how the Penguins are going to get past their next playoff series if they keep playing just barely good enough to win each game and only try when they absolutely have to. I like the Pens, but they just aren't acting like a team that wants it this year.

True...but as a Clevelander...I think all our teams should go! It's been 50 years since we won a championship and we have the biggest default in wins...Detroit has even beat us with that...we have The Cleveland Cants, The Cleveland Clowns, and The Cleveland Idiots! How about the state of Missouri? The last basketball team to be in that state were the Kansas City Kings!

I see a basketball team in Kansas City rather than St. Louis though since they have the Blues in hockey and they're okay, the Rams in St. Louis who's the weakest of the three, and the Cardinals which recently won a World Series.

MrCleveland just because the Cleveland teams have sucked for so long, that doesn't mean they should leave Cleveland. There's some cities that will always have bad teams and that's just the way it is. I don't think Cleveland Cavs need to leave Cleveland. Sal, what makes you think Pittsburgh is a better city than Cleveland? I've never been to Pittsburgh but i doubt it's better than Cleveland. Cleveland has a lot of nice neighborhoods like Shaker, Bedford, Garfield, Maple, Warrensville. The neighborhood my grandparents lived in in Cleveland was nice even though it's a black neighborhood but there was mostly older people that live in their neighborhood and most of those old people have died including my grandparents. The reason why i left Cleveland is because of the jobs, winter and there's not that many malls, restaurants, movie theatres in the black neighborhoods. The reason those things aren't in the black neighborhoods is because ignorant blacks don't know how to act and they refuse to act right. A example of what i'm talking about is Randall Park mall that was in Warrensville which has been closed for several years. If there were more whites than blacks that lived in Warrensville, Randall Park mall would still be open. I also noticed that the last time i visited Cleveland which was a few years ago when i came there for my uncle's funeral, a lot of stores at Southgate shopping center in Maple have closed.


When i was living there, there was a lot of stores in Southgate that were open and Randall Park mall was also open when i lived there. Former NBA star Magic Johnson used to have a movie theatre inside Randall Park mall and it closed. I used to go to his theatre a lot because i love movies and i like how he had black movie posters on the wall like Action Jackson, New Jack City, Boyz N The Hood, A Rage In Harlem. He also had a collage of famous black celebrities on the wall. I live in Maryland and Magic has a movie theatre here in Largo, Maryland. I haven't been there because it's kinda far from where i live and it's in a black neighborhood. I used to go to a movie theatre in the black neighborhood in the area i live in but i stopped going because like i said before, blacks don't know how to act. They always gotta be talking during the movie and when i would stand in line to pay for a movie ticket, i get some blacks that would cut in front of me. I'm so sick of ignorant blacks and i'm sorry i got off topic.

...ever think of moving back to Cleveland? Because there's a century house in Garfield that got turned-over to the bank and I'd like to get the stuff that was in there because that was my grandfather's...unless I can find a way to buy it back from the bank.

Turney Road...he lived in a 1853 farm house. Someone bought it last Christmas, we tried to get our stuff out by Ephiphany but the weather got cold, and now It's owned by the bank. Everything is STILL there, but there's NO 'no trespassing' signs, no 'for sale' signs, nor boards! I'm tempted to tell the city to save this century house!

I'm glad they stayed in Cleveland because they had a good team when they had Mark Price, Brad Daugherty, Larry Nance, Ron Harper(they were stupid for trading him to the Clippers for Danny Ferry and Reggie Williams LOL), John(Hot Rod)Williams. You remember Kevin Johnson used to play for Cleveland? He went to Phoenix for Larry Nance and Mike Sanders. Kevin is now the mayor of Sacramento, California and I think he also has a job position with the NBA players union association.

The bandwagon part is extremely true and kind of sad. I live near Pittsburgh and have been a fan of the Pirates for years (well in reality I'm a Yankees fan, but I love the Pirates too).

Anyway, I have been to my fair share of Pirates games over the years and support them no matter what their record, and as we know, its been horrible for years. All of a sudden they have a winning record last season and droves of fans show up out of the blue.

Fast forward to this year. I went to a game earlier this season and PNC Park was nearly empty! With a slow start to their season, I feel as if fans don't care to watch them once again. I'm definitely coming there to visit next summer because i haven't been there in awhile. Last time i came to Cleveland was when my uncle died in 2012. I might've still been in Cleveland if i was able to find a good job, it didn't snow so much and if there was some malls, movie theatres and restaurants where i used to live. I stayed on Glendale road which is close to Harvard road and Lee road. That area is also close to Shaker and Warrensville. I really liked the area i stayed in with my grandparents. RIP to my mom's parents. I really loved them and i miss them. When i lived with my parents and brother there, we stayed in Garfield on Martin Luther King boulevard which was close to East 131 street and Miles road. MrCleveland, are you familiar with those areas? Garfield area we stayed in was nice.

No...when I hung around Garfield was by Turneytown...my brother played in the Garfield Heights Little League teams. It's where the new High School is now...they demolished the older one.

That...and my grandfather's. If the house isn't sold when my grandma dies or I get my big break...I might buy it back!
