Can anybody tell me why Shelley Long left the show?

i can tell you that,i read this that shelley long wanted to focus on her film career,i guess she felt like she didn,t have enough time when she was on the show cheers and that she got alot of good film offers,but i also saw in an interview where she had said that she wanted to spend more time with her family as well,and i guess she felt like 5 years was long enough to play diane,i was really upset about her leaving i must admit since diane is one of my favorite characters and the best episodes i belive were in the shelley long/diane era,but i think that the main reason was because she wanted to work on her film career and also to spend more time with her daughter and husband,allthough shelley long did make some good films after cheers,i must admit she made several bad career choices after she left cheers,but she had some really good ones out i think before and during cheers though,but i do realize that she had to leave and i,m glad that she managed to make 5 really good years on her time on the show,but the 5 years with shelley on the show are the far supieror years on the show,but she did a good job with them,but yeah the reason why she left again was to focuas more on her film career and to spend more time with her family as well so i hope that this helps,thanks lol

I've heard she didn't really get along with the cast and that she wanted to work on a movie career. She wasn't always interested in tv she really liked movies.

yea i have an old tv from when she left and it says " i just feel that ive taken the character diane as far she could go.. the alter, there would be nothing left for her after that"
