did anyone else here think it seemed short?

It is only the first half.
It will be back as planned in August so there will be two halves and two cliffhangers.

I loved this season, it came into it's own, the younger actors are really good. (I love Emma Bell and I love both who play her parents, Judith Light is really evil in the role.

And I am a major Dallas fan from episode one back in the 70s.

I also loved this season for all the reasons you mentioned. Maybe they're doing this because the original series went downhill it's last couple seasons.

Whatever I think it's great when shows don't run for a full season and they turn out so good as a result.
