FX’s "Fargo" Debuts with 2.65M Total Viewers

There was a lot of snow, a broken nose, some low temperatures and a few dead bodies on the debut of "Fargo" on FX last night. There were also a lot of eyeballs catching the action.

The 10 PM premiere of the limited series based on the Coen brothers’ Oscar-winning 1996 pic was watched by 2.65 million total viewers and 1.02 million among adults 18-49.

The 97-minute debut was down 12% from the 3.04 million who tuned in for the 91-minute premiere of "The Bridge" on July 10 last year in the same time slot. That cross-cultural police drama about a serial killer on the U.S./Mexico border garnered 1.16 million among adults 18-49.

Over its three plays last night, "Fargo" pulled in 4.15 million total viewers with 1.79 million adults 18-49.





Set for a 10-episode run with Noah Hawley as showrunner, "Fargo" sees the arrival of Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton) in Bemidji, MN, play havoc with the residents of the usually quiet small town — especially for low-key insurance salesman Lester Mygaard (Martin Freeman).

Joel and Ethan Coen serve as executive producers, along with Hawley, Warren Littlefield, Adam Bernstein and Geyer Kosninski.



“We are incredibly proud of the towering creative achievement by Noah Hawley and everyone involved with Fargo,” John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions, said today in a statement.

we watched it last night - it was a little gory but overall really entertaining, definitely going to keep watching.

it was reminiscent of the movie, but seemed more dark and mysterious and Billy Bob was just insanely good.

Saw the first episode and I love Billy Bob in this. And you'd never know Martin Freeman is actually British. I enjoyed the original movie and they do have the quirkiness down. Not much happened but I hear it gets better as it goes on.

It wasn't too bad. That one guy at the end went berserk with his wife and it got pretty gruesome.
