Yeah, I came here to say the same thing, and to add, there was a very similar case on UM--the car was discovered underwater at some point after the show's original run, many years after the accident.

Also, I don't know what resources law enforcement has in their area, but one would think that, as in this case, if it was known where the people started from and where they were headed, that any bodies of water in the intervening area should have been checked. ohno:
