What are the odds Nick@Nite will be around 5 ( or even 3 ) years from now?
Reason I ask, on the way to work I heard a news report on the radio that said that many of the cartoons and other so-called children's programs on Nickelodeon have a large number of adult viewers, many times more than Nick@Nite. They even said a huge chunk of the audience fro Noggin is made up of adults. Same thing with The Cartoon Network and Bommerang. I believe it !!!
With that said and if the information is correct I wonder how long will it be before Nick@Nite will vanish forever and Nickelodeon will show its programs 24/7 with the reruns strictly for TV Land? Frankly I am surpirsed Nick hasnt already done so. Besides if ratings are so important to them ( I assume it is ) do they really expect to get them by showing reruns that for the most part can be seen on other channels? Cheers & Cosby are perfect examples. Nothing against them but I believe its a safe bet they air in just about every major city, I myself can pick up Cheers right now on 5 different stations not even counting Nick@nite, as a matter of fact I can pick up all of Nick's current line-up on other stations.
Of course it may not be the same where you are but I cant help but to believe that in this day and age of the WB, UPN, Pax, other local channels a good chunk of viewers can get at least 2 of Nick@nite's shows on some other channel other than Nick@Nite.
In my opinion its not really a question of "if" but "when". After all Nick@Nite has cut back its airtime and of course there is the issue of lack of variety there too. Plus you have other channels out there than can pick up the slack too, like the New TNN, and doesnt the same comapny that owns Nick@Nite own them too?
