The Ultimate Warrior has died ... this according to the WWE.

Warrior -- real name James Hellwig -- was a WWE legend ... and was one of the most iconic wrestlers of all time.

So far, the cause of Warrior's death is unclear. He was 54 years old.

Warrior was just inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame the night before Wrestlemania XXX this weekend ... and last night, eh made his first appearance on "Monday Night Raw" in years.

Triple H just tweeted, "Saddened to announce the passing of the Ultimate Warrior. Icon and friend. My sympathy to his wife Dana and his daughters."

Stephanie McMahon also tweeted, "#RIPUltimateWarrior Your strength of character is to be admired. There will never be anyone like you. Your spirit lives on in your family."

WWE posted a message on the official website saying, "WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior. "

"Warrior began his WWE career in 1987 and quickly went on to become one of the biggest stars in WWE history. Warrior became WWE Champion at WrestleMania VI, defeating Hulk Hogan in an epic encounter. We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans."

"WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior’s family, friends and fans. Warrior was 54 and is survived by his wife Dana and his two daughters."

RIP to his family and friends. He was at the Hall of Fame on Saturday, Sunday for WrestleMania and he did an interview on Raw on Monday. I was shocked to hear this. He was one of the best characters of all time. He will be missed.

I was shocked by this news as well. One minute, you get yourself inducted into a hall of Fame, the next minute, you make a public appearance, and then the minute after that, you're gone as a living person.

It is said that The Ultimate Warrior collapsed at Gainy Suites Hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Some reported that Warrior may have looked physically weak during WrestleMania weekend. I thought that Warrior may have had either an aortic dissection or heart attack/failure, and excessive steroid use may be to blame. I hear that an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

This feels like when John Ritter or Eddie Guerrero or Tim Russert died.

I heard that Hulk Hogan made peace with Ultimate Warrior after many lawsuits almost 3 years ago...

Prayers for the James Hellwig Family.

It is also noted that The Warrior had signed a new multi-year deal with the WWE to be an ambassador for the company. Well now, because of The warrior's death, such a deal is null and void.

The only good thing to come out of this was the fact that Warrior made peace with a lot of rivals and buried a lot of hatchets before he passed away.
