hi y'all!

I am starting to organize my wrestling collection and thought I would start a have list, but wasn't quite sure how to approach it. I figured the best way would be to do an ongoing thread and makes posts of the new stuff as I go through it, and at the same time editing the original post.

I decided to include important and interesting notes as they warrant, and also included announcing teams for each match as the WWF had some pretty wacky announcing combinations at the time. One of my personal favorites was a pre-Brother Love gimmick Bruce Pritchard, ring announcer Mike McGuirk and Pete "Duke of Dorechester" Doherty, whom if you've never heard before, basically sounds like Gilbert Gottfried. Well at least they're better than Superstar Billy Graham repeating everything and Bruno Sammartino's one sentence contribution to each match.

The Big Event
-announcers are Gorilla, "The Big Cat" Ernie Ladd and Johnny Valiant (Lord, help us all). From Toronto, and you can tell it's freezing as hell. The stadium is huge and is announced at 70,000+, but the crowd is dead.
-Killer Bees vs. Hoss and Jimmy Jack Funk
-Haku vs. Don Muraco (HORRIBLE match. Long with lots of rest holds. Not to mention a Dusty finish. Don't ever watch this match)
-Ted Arcidi vs. Tony Garea (Arcidi is BUILT!)
-Junkyard Dog vs. Adrian Adonis (bad officiating)
-Iron Mike Sharpe vs. Rebel Dick Slater (the crowd hilariously mocks Sharpe's infamous yelling)
-Super Machines & Captain Lou Albano vs. Big John Studd, King Kong Bundy and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan
-Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat (Snake Pit match, which is apparently no count-out, no DQ)
-Hercules vs. Billy Jack Haynes (only time I've ever seen someone pinned with a backslide, Hercules resembles the Berzerker here, Gorilla is doing solo commentary here as Ladd and Valiant are apparently on a break)
-Fabulous Rougeau Brothers vs. Dream Team (more bad officiating)
-Handsome Harley Race vs. Pedro Morales
-Hulk Hogan vs. "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff (world title match, crowd finally wakes up and is split pretty evenly here)

-Bobby Heenan show complete

Heroes Of Wrestling-recommended only if you are a masochist.

-The announcers were supposed to be Dirty Dutch Mantell and Gordon Solie, but Solie fell ill and died shortly after this, so we get Dutch and some idiot named Randy Rosenbloom instead. I have no idea who he is but he knows absolutely nothing about wrestling. This takes place at a casino out in the middle of nowhere (Bay St. Louis, Mississippi). This was supposed to be a card devoted to legends, but it ended up being the equivalent to a C-show the WWF would have put on around 1987 (the kind where loud boring chants would have erupted throughout). The event is hyped as one where "long-time feuds would be settled" but most of said feuds never happened, and it's difficult to tell/remember who is supposed to be the face and heel in every match. And since many of these matches have non-conclusive endings, it sort of dispels the theory that the feuds would be settled.

-Marty Jannetty and Tommy Rogers vs. Headshrinkers (Samoan Swat Team). Samoans have Sika with them. Marty has lost some weight and looks like a crack addict. Dutch hilariously subtlety makes reference to Marty's drinking and drug problems. Arm drag is called "a slam and takedown reversal" by Rosenbloom, then called properly by Dutch. We get constant shots of the audience, most of whom are ugly, morbidly obese or picking their nose.

-Greg "The Hammer" Valentine vs. George "The Animal" Steele. Sensous Sherri is in Steele's corner. Animal spends the first part of the match with his shirt over his head and Sherri wastes no time in turning on him. Funny moment as Sherri coddles George, then hits him with a chair to the head a few seconds later to give the match to Greg.

-2 Cold Scorpio vs. Julio Fantastico. A good match, at least for this event. Captain Lou Albano joins Dutch and Doofus on commentating and is given Commissioner status, and breaks down in "tears" and calls this the greatest event in his nearly 50 years in the business. Well that's one way of looking at it.

-Bushwhackers vs. Nikolai Volkoff & Iron Sheik. HORRIBLE match is drenched in stalling and everyone working extremely loosely. Volkoff is flabby and wrinkly. Fast count ends it. Butch tries to shove his armpit in a fan's face. Embarrassing to watch.

-announcement of "capacity crowd of 2,000" Hah.

-Tully Blanchard cuts an AWESOME promo that almost redeems this show slightly. Almost.

-Have I mentioned that the angles used to set up this show range from bad to non-existent? And the announcer doing the interviews backstage is also horrible and making gaffes left and right.

-One Man Gang vs. Abdullah The Butcher. I think this was supposed to be a no-DQ match. Lots of bleeding and foreign objects. Wrestlers beat up the security guards, cameraman and referee afterwards.

-Have I mentioned the horrible, jerky camera work?

-Cowboy Bob Orton vs. Superfly Jimmy Snuka. Dutch finally gets fed up and calls Rosenbloom out for his horrible announcing. Snuka has lots of goofy selling here. Redneck fans chant "Bob is a maggot" (or something that rhymes with that) clap-clap...clap-clap-clap.

Sadly, we don't end there.

-Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart. The main event is supposed to be Yokozuna vs. King Kong Bundy, which becomes important later. Jake cuts a rambling, incoherent interview beforehand where he swears at the cameraman. Jake staggers out to ringside, walks back, removes his shirt, and walks back to the ring. Jake stops to make a female fan feel up his man boobs and slithers into the ring. Dutch refers to Jake as a "former Intercontinental Champion" which isn't accurate. Jake didn't tie up the bag, so Damien (the snake) slithers out and Jake brandishes it as a penis. Then he lays down on the mat and tongues it. Bundy comes down to run interference, but stands outside yelling instead. Jake gives him the finger. Yokozuna comes down and suddenly this is turned into a spontaneous tag match. Yokozuna has an ass way bigger than Rikishi at this point (imagine that) and it was a few months before his death. Jake takes 4 chair shots in an amusing bit, but retaliates by going low on both heels. Crowd chants "Uncle Fester" at Bundy, or the unknown kid at ringside who looks like him. Yokozuna is chewing gum throughout all of this. Anvil starts to work on Jake's leg, but Jake also didn't tie up his boots (can he tie anything properly?) and his boots come off. Jake finally tags Yoko, but Bundy splashes and pins Jake despite neither man being legal in the ring and Bundy not even being sanctioned to wrestle in this match. Worst match ever in the history of wrestling. Yoko beats up the poor manager.

-We also don't get the advertised main event of Bundy vs. Yokozuna and the show is hastily yanked (for obvious reasons).

-Tugboat Thomas vs. Pistol Pez Whatley
-Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase (no DQ, Virgil barred from ringside)

-Earthquake vs. Rugged Ronnie Garvin
-Red Rooster vs. "Model" Rick Martel (pretty good one)

-Tugboat vs. Pistol Pez Whatley
-Ultimate Warrior vs. Mr. Perfect (Perfect ends his near 2 year undefeated streak here)

MSG 9/21/90

-Sgt. Slaughter vs. Nikolain Volkoff
-Tito Santana vs. Barbarian

-Rugged Ronnie Garvin vs. Bob Brady
-Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Ravishing Rick Rude (crowd wakes up for this one, must be one of Rude's last matches in WWF)

Madison Square Garden 7/91
-with original commercials, hosts are Gorilla, Bobby and Lord Alfred (all of whom are in top form tonight).

-Paul Roma vs. The Dragon (superb match with crisp moves and great commentary, ****)
-Superfly Jimmy Snuka vs. Berzerker
-Hart Foundation vs. Nasty Boys (world tag title match, this has to be the last match for the Harts as they both went solo shortly after this)
-Warlord vs. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine (announcers have a hilarious discussion about Nolan Ryan that needs to be heard to be appreciated)
-Earthquake vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts
-Barbarian & Haku vs. Orient Express (Mr. Fuji is subbing for Tanaka here, whom I believe had a relative die. Very entertaining match).
-Ultimate Warrior vs. Undertaker (bodybag match)

-Texas Tornado vs. Big Bully Busick
-British Bulldog vs. IRS (this is a really good IRS match)

-Jim Powers vs. The Genius
-Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake vs. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine
-Hillbilly Jim vs. Andre The Giant (wild ending includes interference from 2 people, a foreign object, the wrong person initially declared winner, Andre shouting something unintelligible, getting a drink thrown at him by a fan, kicking equipment, tripping over said equpiment and choking out a cameraman. Officials have to help the camerman to the back as the faces dance in the ring and ignore him. Wild stuff.)
-everyone hypes the bejeezus out of the No Holds Barred movie
-Superfly Jimmy Snuka vs. Boris Zhukov
-Hart Foundation vs. Powers Of Pain

Sam Houston Coliseum 8/28/87
-Paul Boesch retirement card. Announcers are Bruce Prtichard, Mike McGuirk and the Duke of Dorchester

-Tony Atlas & Junkyard Dog vs. Sika and Kamala
-Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase
-Demolition vs. Tito Santana & Mils Mascaras

Sam Houston Coliseum (Houston, TX) 12/10/87-quite an impressive card. Announcers are that great combination of Bruce Pritchard, Mike McGuirk and Pete "Duke of Dorchester" Doherty (I should point out that it really is Doherty and he did go outside of Boston -- it is not Bruce Pritchard pulling double duty with a Gilbert Gottfried impression)
-Sam Houston vs. Dusty Wolfe (hey Sam Houston has the Coliseum named after him. Well, something like that)
-Junkyard Dog vs. Hercules
-Brady Boone & Billy Jack Haynes vs. Demolition
-"Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff vs. Ravishing Rick Rude

-Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat vs. Outlaw Ron Bass
-Greg "The Hammer" Valentine vs. Kenny Johnson
-Hulk Hogan vs. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase (world title match)

I-C title tournament from 1990
First round matches:
Tito Santana vs. Akeem
Mr. Perfect vs. Superfly Jimmy Snuka
Dino Bravo vs. Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake
Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. Rick "The Model" Martel

King Of The Ring 1993-Yeah. So this is basically Vince's apology to Bret for not having faith he could run the promotion and putting the title back on Hogan, who decided to take a 3 month break immediately upon his return. Pretty amusing as the bookers make Bret out to be a god and completely and utterly bury Hogan.

First Round:
-Bret "The Hitman" Hart vs. Razor Ramon
-Mr. Perfect vs. Mr. Hughes
-Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan
-Tatanka vs. The Narcissist Lex Luger (both guys undefeated at this point)

I won't give away too much about the tournament, for those who haven't seen it, but there's a doozy of a semi-final match in here.

-Hulk Hogan vs. Yokozuna (world title match)
-Steiner Brothers & Smoking Gunns vs. Money, Inc. & Headshrinkers (pretty short one as Rick Steiner and Samu never tag in)
-Shawn Michaels vs. Crush (I-C title match, pretty good one)

King Of The Ring 1994

-So this is the infamous Art Donovan PPV. If you've never heard of it, he is laughably awful at commentating.

First Round:
-Razor Ramon vs. Bam Bam Bigelow
-Mabel vs. IRS
-Owen Hart vs. Tatanka
-Jeff Jarrett vs 1-2-3 Kid

As with 93, I won't give away too much, but there's an exceptional semi-final match, and Owen comes out looking like the best worker in the business (like he did in WM 10). IRS is more annoying than usual, if such a thing is possible.

-Hey there's Joey Marella, a few weeks before his sad death.
-commercial for the failed "New Generation" campaign. Jeez Vince, try not to insult the legendary and then recently-deceased Andre The Giant.
-Bret "Hit Man" Hart vs. Diesel (world title match, Diesel is I-C champ at this point, but just the world title is on the line)
-Jerry "The King" Lawler cuts a funny promo where he calls out Art Donovan for his bad announcing.
-Headshrinkers vs. Yokozuna and Crush (world tag title match, each team has 2 managers)
-Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler (this is one of Roddy's approximately 50 million "coming out of retirement" matches)

King Of The Ring 1995

-This is a pretty infamous bad PPV. What should have happened was Shawn winning, giving KOTR its 3rd deserving winner in a row. Well, the bookers were apparently using some hardcore drugs as the night is filled with bad booking decisions.

Qualifying match (minutes before the PPV actually airs)
-Savio Vega vs IRS

First Round:
-Savio Vega vs. Yokozuna
-Spark Plugg Holly vs. The Roadie
-Shawn Michael vs. Kama
-Undertaker vs. Mabel

-Bret "Hit Man" Hart vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler ("Kiss My Foot" match. Well, it was entertaining, I'll give it that)
-Diesel and Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Sid and Tatanka
-pretty much one of the few enjoyable points about this PPV is watching the notorious Philly fans absolutely pelt the heels with garbage at various points.

Heenan's reaction is great as he nearly pops a vein over the whole thing.
-Outback Jack vs. The Raider (announcers: Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan)

-Royal Rumble 1992 ending with redubbed commentary from Gorilla and Bobby. They did this to try and make it seem like the crowd booed Sid when he tossed Hulk, though you can clearly see the audience cheering like nuts. Notable as the first serious backlash against Hogan from the fans as they were just tired of his act at this point, and his heyday was coming to an end.

I, too. am a big wrestling fan. I like your list so far!! Keep them coming!! Let me ask one thing. The PrimeTime Wrestling episodes that you mentioned. Are they from your own collection which you taped when it happened or did you tape off of WWE Classics on Demand?

Ok. There is a minor difference from when aired originally and what aired on WWE Classics on Demand. For one, they dub over entrance music and second, they dont do the rundown of live events.

Prime Time Wrestling - 12/21/92
-hosts are Vince McMahon, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, Jerry "The King" Lawler, Hillbilly Jim and Sgt. Slaughter. There are too many matches this episode (read: squashes) that I'll forgo listing the announcers for this one.

-Christmas sermon from Slick

Wiseguy, is the debut episode of PrimeTime off of WWE Classics on Demand? I ask because I know that they ran the debut episode one time on Classics on Demand. Its also a very rare episode that doesnt seem to be on the internet at all. And if it is its WWE Classics version, not the original version.

it's from wwe 24/7, whatever that is.

Thankfully, they replaced Jack Reynolds before too long. Man, did he SUCK. Talk about bringing nothing to the table. Gorilla was so much better.

This wraps up my Prime Time Wrestling collection, next I'll be heading on to Saturday Night's Main Events. And then from there (as Vince would say), I'll be doing house shows, etc.

Prime Time Wrestling 9/22/86
-sort of a bizarre episode this week as several of the matches are well over a year old at this point.
-Kamala vs. Pat Patterson
-Mean Gene Okerlund joins the studio
-Moondog Rex vs. Terry Gibbs
-funny interview with George "The Animal" Steele
-Penny Mitchell & Peggy Paterson (?) vs. Velvet McIntyre and Desiree Peterson (pretty sure Gorilla botched the names here) (women's tag title match -- yes those titles actually existed for awhile)
-British Bulldogs vs. Jack Foley and Les Thornton
-clip of Tuesday Night Titans with Nikolai Volkoff bringing a black bear cub on the set
-Moondog Spot vs. Jose Luis Riveria (JIP)
-Dream Team vs. Killer Bees (tag title match)

Prime Time Wrestling 8/25/86
-Leaping Lanny Poffo vs. Mr. X
-Tito Santana vs. "Cowboy" Bob Orton
-Dick "The Rebel" Slater vs. Pete "Duke of Dorchester" Doherty (amusing commentary on this one)
-clip of Tuesday Night Titans where Mr. Fuji brings out Little Tokyo
-Paul Roma and S.D. Jones vs 2 jobbers
-Hart Foundation vs Nikolai Volkoff and The Iron Sheik (heel vs. heel match, which was practically unheard of in this time period. Crowd decides to cheer on the Harts)

Prime Time Wrestling 11/8/88
-Most of the matches here are from Paris, France. (I'm guessing because the country was preoccupied with George Bush being elected President on this night, extended episode)
-"The Rock" Don Muraco vs Greg "The Hammer" Valentine
-Andre The Giant vs Junkyard Dog (roughly 10 minutes of stalling here as Andre protests JYD's chain and heads to the back for what seems like forever)
-Rockin' Robin vs. Sensational Sherri (women's title match)
-Leaping Lanny Poffo vs. Barry Horowitz
-King Haku vs. Hulk Hogan (from Saturday Night's Main Event)
-Demolition vs. Bulldogs (tag title match)
-Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. Ravishing Rick Rude (from SNME)
-"Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Akeem (world title match)

I remember the Paris show. Gorilla and Bobby said they were in "Paris" even though they werent. I believe that Rockin Robin beat Sherri for the Womens title.

Yeah, it sounded like their commentary was dubbed in. They did an EXCELLENT job of faking though, with Bobby constantly saying he was going to leave the broadcast area and Gorilla threatening him that he had 5 people watching him. And yes, Robin did beat Sherri for the title to basically tank the division. I would have went with Velvet McIntyre instead, she was infinitely much more talented.

today kicks off Saturday Night's Main Event entries

Saturday Night's Main Event #1, 5/11/85
This must be an original broadcast and check out THIS music! Theme song for the show is "Obsession" by Animotion. Mother's Day episode. This would occasionally replace Saturday Night Live during its off-weeks, and continue that way for years.

-Piper's Pit with "Cowboy" Bob Orton and "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff
-Hulk Hogan (entrance music: "Eye Of The Tiger" by Survivor) vs. "Cowboy" Bob Orton (world title match)
-world premiere of Cyndi Lauper's music video for "The Goonies R Good Enough", which would go on to hit the top 10. Video features many wrestling superstars and cast members of the Goonies.
-Wendi Richter (entrance music: "She Bop" by Cyndi Lauper) vs. The Fabulous Moolah (ladies world title match, Moolah gets Lauper banned from ringside)
-Junkyard Dog (entrance music: "Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen) vs. Pete "Duke of Dochester" Doherty. (JYD accompanies his mother down to ringside)
-and we head backstage where we see JYD, Hogan and Lauper with their moms. (You may recognize Lauper's mom from several of her music videos)

Saturday Night's Main Event 5/3/86

-Hulk Hogan and The Junkyard Dog vs. Terry and Hoss Funk

-"Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff vs. "Adorable" Adrian Adonis
-Ricky Steamboat vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts (somewhat infamous outing as Steamboat gets DDT'd right on the concrete floor!)
-British Bulldogs vs. Nikolai Volkoff & The Iron Sheik (world tag title match, 2/3 falls, Dynamite Kid is legit injured here, so Davey Boy practically wrestles all 3 falls by himself!)

wiseguy182
05-10-2014, 11:58 AM
I gotta say, it's neat watching these with wrestlers coming down to the ring to some of the big hits of the day.

Saturday Night's Main Event 10/14/86

-Junkyard Dog vs. "The King" Harley Race
-Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. Adorable Adrian Adonis

wiseguy182
05-12-2014, 02:00 AM
continuing on with the Saturday Night's Main Events. Vince's commentary is hysterical, as we're to the point where he gets really cynical and hyper and fawning over Elizabeth.

Saturday Night's Main Event 3/14/87
-"Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. George "The Animal" Steele (I-C title is on the line and so is Liz.)
-20 man battle royal. I won't repeat all the participants, just so say it contains Hulk and Andre and Leaping Lanny Poffo, who does a positively HORRIFIC and gory blade job that results in him being carried out of the ring area on a stretcher. I mean, his face was just COVERED in blood and there were pools of it on the mats and stuff. Wild.
-Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. King Kong Bundy
-Hart Foundation vs. Danny Spiver & Tito Santana (world tag title match)
-Iron Sheik vs. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat (Macho joins in on commentary)
-a tribute to Rowdy Roddy Piper as he retires for the first time (he would retire about 250 times after this)

Saturday Night's Main Event 5/2/87
-Kamala vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts
-"Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. George "The Animal" Steele (I almost typed I-C title match out of habit, lumberjack match, final match in this LONG feud.)
-Hart Foundation vs. British Bulldogs (world tag title match, 2/3 falls)
-Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat vs. Hercules (I-C title match)
-Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff vs. Can-Am Connection

wiseguy182
05-19-2014, 07:58 AM

-music video for Koko B. Ware's "Piledriver"
-outro music: "Stand By Your Man" by Tammy Wynette

Saturday Night's Main Event 11/26/87
this is 2 days after the first ever Survivor Series
-George "The Animal" Steele vs. Dangerous Danny Davis (George actually executes a technical wrestling maneuver: a double leg trip. Way to go George!"
-"Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Bret "Hit Man" Hart (**** match)
-Hulk Hogan vs. King Kong Bundy (world title match)
-Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Hercules

Wiseguy, love your avatar. Jameson, from the Bobby Heenan Show. Bobby had a great line at the Royal Rumble 1992 when Jameson came out with The Bushwhackers. Bobby goes "here comes Larry, Darryl and Darryl."

Btw, if you have in your collection, watch SNME when Uncle Elmer got married. Jessie Ventura is hilarious during the ceremony itself and I think he was legit laughing and to a certain extent so was Vince.

Yeah, Bobby, Jameson and the 92 Rumble are all a barrel of laughs.

I just recently re-watched the Elmer wedding and that too was a barrel of laughs. And I do think Jesse was legit laughing. I think my favorite part was when Elmer flubbed his lines and they got pelted with trash.

Saturday Night's Main Event 1/2/88
-Strike Force vs. Bolsheviks (world tag title match, 2/3 falls)
-Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. Sika
-Hulk Hogan vs. King Kong Bundy (world title match)
-Greg "The Hammer" Valentine vs. Koko B. Ware

The Main Event (2/5/88)
-this is a pretty famous episode that did HUGE ratings. That's all I'll say about it.
-"Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Honky Tonk Man (I-C) title match
-Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant (world title match)
-There was supposed to be a 2/3 falls tag title match between the Harts and Strike Force, which I'm sure must have been a **** match, so of course we only see like 5 seconds of it.

Saturday Night's Main Event 3/7/88
-Greg "The Hammer" Valentine vs. Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake
-Hulk Hogan vs. "The King" Harley Race (Race takes some innovative and career-ending bumps here)
-"Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase (this would end up being the Main Event and WrestleMania IV a few weeks later)
-Killer Bees vs. Islanders (rumor has it this was 2/3 falls, but only the last fall is shown)
-One Man Gang vs. Ken Patera

Saturday Night's Main Event 4/30/88
-Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Hercules
-Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake vs. Dangerous Danny Davis
-"Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. One Man Gang (world title match, much better than their WM IV encounter)
-British Bulldogs vs. Demolition
-"The Rock" Don Muraco vs. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase
-Koko B. Ware vs. Ravishing Rick Rude

Really wish there was some way to see the complete Harts/Strike Force and Islanders/Bees matches.

wiseguy182
05-31-2014, 12:46 PM

-Hulk Hogan vs. King Haku
-Ken Patera vs. Dino Bravo
-Jim Powers vs. Big Boss Man

Saturday Night's Main Event 11/26/88
-Ultimate Warrior vs. Super Ninja (I-C title match)
-Hercules vs. Virgil

-Hulk Hogan vs. Big Boss Man (world title in a cage, legendary **** match)
-Demolition vs. Brain Busters (world tag title match)
-Superfly Jimmy Snuka vs. Boris Zhukov

The Main Event-2/3/89 was great. I loved the heel turn of the Macho Man. How about when he told Hogan "you got lustful eyes towards Elizabeth" and "I'm not number 3 in the Mega Powers, I'm number 1." Good stuff there.

Yeah.

Regarding The Main Event #1, I heard there actually were some world title defenses by Ted Dibiase against Bam Bam Bigelow in the weeks following that. I'd love to see one of those and wonder if any of them are available.

You know, I'd check youtube because when it comes that part of history, it gets a little murky. I believe Dibiase defended the title and was announced as the new WWF champion at a show in the Boston Garden.

I'm still alive! Polishing off the Saturday Night's Main Events, after this I'll move onto house shows. I wonder if there's a way to view all the dark matches from these SNME's.

Saturday Night's Main Event 7/29/89
-this is billed as a "bonus summertime episode"
-Hulk Hogan vs. Honky Tonk Man (world tile match)
-Superfly Jimmy Snuka vs. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine (Rugged Ronnie Garvin is the referee here)
-Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage
-Demoliton vs. Brain Busters (world tag title match, 2/3 falls, notable as the only title change on SNME in this era)

Saturday Night's Main Event 10/89
-with original commercials from San Diego
-Superfly Jimmy Snuka vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage
-Hulk Hogan vs. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase (world title match)
-Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. Haku
-"Model" Rick Martel vs. Tito Santana
-Fabulous Rougeau Brothers vs. Bushwhackers

-Saturday Night's Main Event 11/6/89
-with original commercials from San Diego
-Ultimate Warrior vs. Andre The Giant (I-C title match)
-Hulk Hogan vs. The Genius (HOGAN JOBS!, good match)
-Big Boss Man vs. Dusty Rhodes
-Red Rooster vs. Mr. Perfect
-Rockers vs. Brain Busters (2/3 falls. Huh. This must be the tail-end of the Busters run in the WWF and I thought Tully was already fired by this point).

Saturday Night's Main Event 1/27/90
-"Macho King" Randy Savage vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan (crown match)
-Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior vs. Mr. Perfect and The Genius
-Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine
-Dusty Rhodes vs. Ravishing Rick Rude
-Rugged Ronnie Garvin vs. Dino Bravo

The Main Event 2/23/90 [/U]
-Hulk Hogan vs. "Macho King" Randy Savage (world title match, James Buster Douglas is a guest referee here, this was supposed to be Mike Tyson as guest ref until his shocking loss to Douglas a few weeks before this. The WWF had booked "the world boxing champ" and replaced Tyson with Douglas)
-Ultimate Warrior vs. Dino Bravo (I-C title match)

Saturday Night's Main Event 4/2/90
-Hulk Hogan vs. Mr. Perfect
-Hillbilly Jim vs. Earthquake
-Rockers vs. Hart Foundation (**** match. It was heading towards ***** until a bad finish)
-Ultimate Warrior vs. Haku (world title match)
-Big Boss Man vs. Akeem (Akeem gives Boss Man some early versions of the stinkface)

Saturday Night's Main Event 7/28/90
-Wild Kingdom theme with funny bits from Lord Alfred Hayes and Mean Gene Okerlund. This is also Jesse "The Body" Ventura's last SNME, sadly.
-Ultimate Warrior vs. Ravishing Rick Rude (world title match)
-Rockers vs. Demolition (world tag title match)
-Tito Santana vs. Mr. Perfect (I-C title match, **** match)
-Texas Tornado vs. Playboy Buddy Rose

Saturday Night's Main Event 10/23/90
-Vince and Roddy on commentary
-Ultimate Warrior and Legion Of Doom vs. Demolition (all 3 members)
-Dusty Rhodes vs. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase

Main Event 1/25/91
-Hulk Hogan and Tugboat vs. Earthquake and Dino Bravo
-Sgt. Slaughter vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan (world title match)
-Legion Of Doom vs. Orient Express

Saturday Night's Main Event 4/27/91
-Vince and Macho on commentary here. This would be the last NBC episode, for quite a while anyways.
-Ultimate Warrior vs. Sgt. Slaughter
-Bushwhackers vs. Nasty Boys
-20 man battle royal
-"Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase vs. Bret "Hit Man" Hart
-Tito Santana vs. Mountie (rematch from their abbreviated WMVII encounter)

Saturday Night's Main Event 2/8/92
-debut on FOX, this was short-lived
-Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. Mountie (I-C title match, rematch from their disjointed RR92 encounter)
-Hulk Hogan & Sid Justice vs. Ric Flair and The Undertaker
-"Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts

Saturday Night's Main Event 11/8/92
-last FOX episode. Hosted by Al Bundy (too bad this didn't last, he was the PERFECT host for this)
-Ultimate Warrior & "Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Money, Inc. (world tag title match, Warrior bolts the company right afterwards)
-British Bulldog vs. Shawn Michaels (I-C title match, title change!, this was the beginning of Shawn's rise to stardom)
-Bret "Hit Man" Hart vs. Papa Shango (world title match)

Starting off the house shows:

Nassau Coliseum (Long Island, New York, NY 6/10/89
-announcers are Tony Schiavone and Lord Alfred Hayes

Sam Houston Coliseum (Houston, TX) 12/10/87
-quite an impressive card.
-Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake vs. One Man Gang (crowd absolutely PELTS the ring and its occupants with trash during the match, and Gang uses some of it to attack Beefcake with. Good stuff)
-Strike Force vs. Hart Foundation (world tag title match)
-Ultimate Warrior vs. Iron Mike Sharpe
-Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat vs. Outlaw Ron Bass
-Greg "The Hammer" Valentine vs. Kenny Johnson
-Hulk Hogan vs. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase (world title match)

Good stuff, Wiseguy!! The Rockers/Hart Foundation match on SNME has to be a reshoot because there was a match where the Rockers win the tag titles but it never aired. You could tell by the early 90s, SNME started to lose its luster and cache.

Not quite. The Rockers/Harts match on SNME occurred right after the Demos picked up the title for the third time on 4/1/90. Harts wouldn't regain it until SummerSlam 90 in late August. The Harts/Rockers title switch occurred some time after that.

I have no idea if they really intended to put the titles on the Rockers or if it was just an accident due to the rope breaking. (I just found out it was a 2/3 falls match). Vince said he couldn't air a match that bad on television (although it later turned up on a Shawn Michael dvd, which I haven't seen yet. Will definitely have to check it out.) The Rockers defended the title against Power & Glory a few days later. I've heard various stories throughout the years: One theory says that they were going to fire Jim Neidhart, thus taking the titles off the Harts, but Neidhart and management came to an agreement and they decided to not air the title change and give the titles back to the Harts. Scott Keith claims plans were for Harts to drop the titles to the Rockers, who would have in turn dropped them to Power & Glory. I really don't think I believe that though, especially since a lot of what Scott Keith says is bs.

But you are right, SNME's heyday was 85-90. I don't think it was the same without Jesse.

Here is today's entry:

Wiseguy, what are Brian Williams and Jane-Velez Mitchell doing there? Are/were they wrestling fans?

Btw, 2/20/89 was the day of the Flair-Steamboat match in Chicago, one of the best matches ever.

No, it's just a short little news clip of them when they were hosting the local news. It's just weird to see given how famous they are now.

I have seen the Flair-Steamboat trilogy. My favorite was the last one, but I think the 2/3 falls one is vastly overrated. (dodges tomatoes)

might as well stick with tournament action, while I'm at it. Btw, does anyone have discs of the qualifying matches for the first 3 King of The Ring's? That would be interesting to see.

King Of The Ring 1993
-Yeah.

-pretty much one of the few enjoyable points about this PPV is watching the notorious Philly fans absolutely pelt the heels with garbage at various points.

and speaking of bad PPV's, we have this

Heroes Of Wrestling
-recommended only if you are a masochist.

I also found another house show:

MSG 12/89
-Tito Santana vs. Bob Bradley
-midget match: Chris Yube and Little Coco vs. Little Tokyo & Cowboy Cottrell. (Probably one of the last midget matches in the WWF)
-Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake vs. "The Model" Rick Martel
-Tugboat Thomas vs. Pistol Pez Whatley
-Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase (no DQ, Virgil barred from ringside)
-Koko B. Ware vs. Iron Mike Sharpe (announcers tell a hilariously true story about Sharpe taking so long in the showers that he got locked in the building overnight -- Sharpe has a severe case of OCD)
-Demolition vs. Colossal Connection
-Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. Ravishing Rick Rude (steel cage match, Rude spends almost the entire match with his pants partially down)

Mabel won KOTR because they were pushing him to fight Diesel at Summerslam. I was bummed HBK didnt win it. Yes, I remember Art Donovan's lousy announcing. I bet you Vince would have taken jail over listening to his announcing.

Btw, dont forget during the finals of the KOTR in 1995, the fans were chanting ECW very loudly.

It's too bad Gorilla Monsoon's final PPV as lead play-by-play announcer had to include Art "How-Much-Does-This-Guy-Weigh" Donovan.

one more tournament, along with some miscellaneous cards. Btw, does anyone get a laugh at how they always referred to Jack Tunney as "The distinguished Jack Tunney" or "The esteemed President of the World Wrestling Federation"? LOL, what was so esteemed about him?

Wrestling Classic

-commentators are Gorilla and Jesse. A lot of really neat stuff sprinkled throughout this show.

First Round:

Adrian Adonis vs. Corporal Kirschner
Dynamite Kid vs. Nikolai Volkoff
Ricky Steamboat vs. Davey Boy Smith
"Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Ivan Putski
Junkyard Dog vs. Iron Sheik
Terry Funk vs. Moondog Spot
Don Muraco vs. Tito Santana
"Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff vs. Cowboy Bob Orton

Also, a world title match between Piper and Hogan and a Rolls Royce is given away.

Wrestlefest 88
-This is the short form version, but I think I have the 2 matches they cut out, so I'll see if I can include those. Another huge arena with a big crowd. From Wisconsin, your commentators are Sean Mooney, Lord Alfred Hayes and Superstar Billy Graham
-Killer Bees vs. Fabulous Rougeau Brothers
-Bret "The Hit Man" Hart vs. Bad News Brown
-Honky Tonk Man vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan (I-C title match)
-Powers of Pain vs. Bolsheviks
-Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart vs. Leaping Lanny Poffo
-Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. Ravishing Rick Rude
-Ultimate Warrior vs. Bobby "The Brain" Heenan (Weasel suit match. This is the same match, move for move, as the MSG one on one of the dvd sets. Superstar calls Sean Mooney "Sean Penn", props to the guy in the audience holding up a "WWF is the only true sport" sign)
-British Bulldogs vs. Demolition (world tag title match)
-Ken Patera vs. Dino Bravo
-Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant (steel cage match. Andre tries to climb the cage (?!) and does his contractually obligated caught up in the ropes bit the opposite way!)

This Tuesday In Texas
-Bret "The Hit Man" Hart vs. Skinner (I-C title match, funny moment as Skinner goes to the corner and tries to use his can of spit juice, the ref confiscates it, so he goes to the other corner and grabs his claw and uses that. Brilliant!)
-Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage (intense match with lengthy, heat-building post-match antics.)
-British Bulldog vs. Warlord (I swear these two wrestled each other every day in 1991. Good match, though)
-El Matador and Virgil vs. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase and Repo Man
-Hulk Hogan vs. Undertaker (world title match)
